The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be making its return to London on March 18. The UFC previously announced six bouts for the card including Brad Pickett’s retirement fight against Henry Briones. This morning, they announced three more bouts.
First, the official Twitter page of UFC Europe announced a lightweight tilt between Joseph Duffy and Reza Madadi. Then the account revealed light heavyweights Jimi Manuwa and Corey Anderson will also be on the card. The third new bout is a women’s bantamweight contest between Lina Lansberg and Veronica Macedo.
Manuwa will be returning to the place he calls home after his second round knockout over Ovince Saint Preux back in October. The win got him back on track after suffering the second loss of his career to Anthony Johnson. Anderson also got back in the win column in his last fight. After losing a controversial split decision to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Anderson dominated Sean O’Connell in a second round TKO finish.
Duffy’s first loss since Oct. 2011 came at the hands of Dustin Poirier at UFC 195. “Irish Joe” returned to the Octagon six months later to take on Mitch Clarke. Duffy submitted Clarke in 25 seconds. Madadi’s last bout was eight months ago. He TKO’d Yan Cabral and sent him packing from the UFC.
Lansberg had a rough go in her UFC debut. She was welcomed to the world leader in mixed martial arts (MMA) by Cris Cyborg. “Elbow Princess” was demolished. She’ll look to earn her first UFC win against Macedo. This will be Macedo’s second UFC bout as well. She was TKO’d by Ashlee Evans-Smith in her debut.
This UFC Fight Night event will take place inside the O2 Arena. UFC Fight Club members will get access to pre-sale tickets on Jan. 25. Those who are signed up with the UFC’s newsletter will gain access to tickets the following day. The general public will be able to purchase tickets on Jan. 27. “You can feel confident that the substance they are inquiring about is not for performance enhancing use, and is needed for my specific treatments,” Justino said.
“She [sic] pissed hot for an anti-androgen. I used to rub that s**t in my head to prevent hair loss. It is also used by females who take steroids as a masking agent, to diminish the affect. Some people take it as a masking agent. It has many different uses”.
When asked what Cyborg’s defense was, Rogan was not impressed:
“She took something out of competition, that she was told by her Dr that it would be OK, although it is on the USADA banned list”

The skill difference certainly showed on fight night, as Justino dominated Lansberg for the entire first round before she finished the Swedish product in the second round.
Shortly after the loss ‘The Elbow Queen’ took to her Instagram page to pay her respects to ‘Cyborg’, and stated that before her career is over she wants to fight the Brazilian beast one more time:
Finally back home and settled with more experience and some perspective on things.@criscyborg is just a phenomenal fighter with insane power in her hands! Not in any of my 85 Thaiboxing fights and 8 MMA fights have I felt those kind of punches. My nose got cracked in three places right after the first couple of punches. First time for everything I guess… Before I accepted this fight I knew about her weight, skill level and ability to finish opponents within the first round.
Thats exactly why I took the fight. To step up to the ultimate challenge, to put myself out there far away from comfort… I thought I would be able to show more. My camp was not perfect but good, our game plan was great but Cyborg shut me down in every way. I have got some healing up to do but can’t wait to get back in the gym and get ready for my next fight! I am looking to rack up some wins in 135 and I wish to fight Cyborg again before my career is over.

It will be interesting to follow Lansberg’s career going forward after having had the experience of being inside the Octagon with ‘Cyborg’ so early in her MMA career, and if she can once again earn a shot at trying to best Justino again.
Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino’s second Octagon appearance has come and gone this past Saturday (September 24, 2016), once again ending with her opponent succumbing to her superior power and striking ability in the early rounds of the contest. Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino’s second Octagon appearance has come and gone this past Saturday (September 24, 2016), once again ending with her opponent succumbing to her superior power and striking ability in the early rounds of the contest.
The big news leading up to fight night last week, however, was if the Brazilian powerhouse would be able to make weight during her strenuous cut to 140-pounds for the catchweight contest.
A one pound allowance was to be granted to ‘Cyborg’ for the 140-pound contest, and come weigh-in morning it seemed as though all was well when Justino took the scale, before a picture of her weight hit the internet that is:
It appears as though Justino should have handed over a bit of her fight purse over to opponent Lina Lansberg, but ‘Cyborg’s’ nutritionist George Lockhart told The MMA Hour today, courtesy of MMA Mania, (September 26, 2016) that the Brazilian Athletic Commission allowed her to come in overweight:
“From my understanding with the commission, that was allowed. God’s honest truth, man, I’m going to get you down like any UFC fighter I work with knows, they are going to be 146 on the dot, 156 on the dot and I am not going to make you cut anymore weight that is absolutely necessary.
That’s exactly what we needed so that’s exactly what we got her down to. That was up to the commission, I believe. I think you get a variable in there and a lot of people don’t know this, when you step on the scales a digital scale, especially in the US, it only goes by .5. So if you are 171.2, it rounds down to 171. If you are 171.3 then it rounds up. A lot of people don’t know that.”
Lockhart also stated that his client walked into the cage at 170-pounds on fight night, meaning that in only 24-hours Justino was able to put on 30-pounds before stepping inside the cage with Lansberg.
‘Cyborg’s’ UFC future is still unknown, however, it is believed she will continue to fight at 140-pounds for ‘super-fights’. If that is the case it would definitely be beneficial to both Justino and the fans if she received a hefty step up in competition.
