Vitor Belfort is already looking massive after retiring:

Legendary knockout artist Vitor Belfort may have retired after losing to Lyoto Machida at May 12’s UFC 224, but ‘The Phenom’ is already looking insanely jacked in his post-retirement days.

Belfort recently took to social media to post a photo of himself from the neck up on Instagram, and let’s just say it hearkened back to his controversial testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT) days.

Check it out:

Belfort infamously racked up three jaw-dropping knockout wins over Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold, and Dan Henderson, all by way of head kick, during an unprecedented run from 2013-2014 which earned him a title shot at then-champion Chris Weidman.

It also made him by far the most controversial fighter in the UFC due to his use of TRT, which was legal at the time but frowned upon. A failed out-of-competition drug test in early 2014 lead to the banning of its use in mixed martial arts competition, and may have laid the foundation for the UFC’s stringent USADA testing every fighter must subject to now.

Belfort is sure to draw a decent amount of heat for the above photo.

Could a move to Rizin or even Bellator be in the cards for “The Phenom?”

Mousasi: Lyoto Machida Was ‘100 Percent On Steroids’

Is Lyoto Machida’s UFC legacy tarnished?

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will soon debut with Bellator MMA.

Last week, the UFC veteran signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator after they made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Machida will likely compete in the middleweight division, which is currently fronted by champion Gegard Mousasi.

Mousasi recently offered his thoughts on Bellator picking up Machida. He believes The Dragon ultimately left the promotion due to the extensive drug testing protocol put in place by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) (via Bloody Elbow):

“He’s older, and there was drug testing in the UFC,” Mousasi said. “But if I fight him, he would need a lot of drug testing, too.”

In November 2016, “The Dragon” fell victim to USADA after disclosing his use of 7-keto-DHEA, which USADA classifies as an anabolic agent, and was given an 18-month suspension.

Mousasi just needs to take on look at the Brazilian’s physique the first time they fought in February 2014 to conclude that he was in fact taking performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs):

“Look at his physique, I think that says enough,” Mousasi said. “He’s a skilled guy, no doubt about it, but when you get older, everything goes a little bit downward. Fighters, they cannot fight until 47 years old as they did before. If they’re clean, it’s difficult, especially against high-class fighters.”

“They can beat a little bit lower guys, but against top competition, it’s difficult when you’re 41 or whatever and still be able to physically – skillwise, maybe, but on the highest level, small things make a big difference.”

Should Mousasi and Machida find themselves rematching at some point down the road in Bellator, after Machida won their initial meeting back via decision, the Bellator middleweight champ will request extensive drug testing – but is willing to do it again:

“I think he’s in a different stage now, and if he wins his (debut) fight, and he’s the contender, we’re 100% gonna (fight again).”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida has finally parted ways with the UFC after over 10 years of hard-working service.

In a surprise move, “The Dragon” announced he had signed with rival promotion Bellator on Friday to the confusion of MMA fans. Machida is coming off of a career-reviving knockout over fellow Brazilian MMA legend Vitor Belfort at UFC 224, and seemed poised to re-sign with the UFC after fighting out his most recent contract.

Machida took to social media after the news broke to provide fight fans with some explanation for the move:

“Hello everyone, I’m here to announce a great change in my career. My contract with UFC has finished, and I’m going to a new house: Bellator, which is a great MMA event that has been growing a lot here in the United States. I’m very grateful for everything that happened with me in the UFC.

“I’m very happy with everything I lived. I believe that everything in our lives is made of periods. All that comes is great and all that goes is also great. We have to be open to new changes, new challenges. This is how I think. My best regards to all of you, and I wish you keep on supporting me, because everytime I fight and everytime I practice, I do my best for all of you.”

“The Dragon” captured UFC gold after knocking out former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans back at UFC 98 and eventually moved down to middleweight where he fell short in his pursuit of the title.

Now at 40 years old, Machida joins a promotion where he holds a knockout victory over their light heavyweight champion and a dominant decision victory over the middleweight champ.
