Mackenzie Dern is one of the most feared Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners in the world right now, and she showcased just why that is when she defeated Montana Stewart in their Legacy FC 61 bout in Dallas last night (October 15, 2016).

In the first round of the contest the bout found its way to the ground, somewhere Dern is comfortable to say the very least, and the BJJ world champion showcased her amazing ability when she locked in both an omoplata and a rear-naked choke simultaneously.

This is the first time in Dern’s short mixed martial arts career (2-0) that we’ve seen her utilize her tremendous ground ability, as her first victory came by way of unanimous decision. Following the fight Dern stated she wants to fight again on December 2nd in hopes of quickly landing a contract to fight in the UFC.

If Dern can continue dominating female MMA the way she has been doing so far in her young tenure in the sport, it may only be a matter of time before we see the MMA Lab product competing in the Octagon.

BJJ Star Mackenzie Dern Confirmed To Make MMA Debut For Legacy FC On 7/22

The MMA debut of one of the best female grapplers in the world is now official.

On Thursday, Legacy FC officials announced the MMA debut of Mackenzie Dern, a black belt in jiu-jitsu under her father, Wellington “Megaton” Dias, as she will make her transition from the grappling world to the fighting world at the promotion’s event scheduled for July 22nd.

“I hope I can represent jiu-jitsu well and put on a good performance,” said Dern of her upcoming MMA debut. “Of course, I will try to be aggressive, but it’s my first fight, so I will still feel everything, see what I have to improve.”

Legacy FC officials have yet to announce an opponent for Dern’s debut.
