Former UFC fighter Mark Hunt has proposed a potential fight with UFC’s top figures to potentially drop his lawsuit against them.

Hunt has been in a legal battle with the UFC for years. He first took them to court over his 2017 bout against Brock Lesnar. He alleged that the promotion knew Lesnar was taking performance-enhancing substances but allowed him to fight Hunt anyway.

While most of his lawsuit was thrown out by a U.S. District Court in Nevada, a recent ruling in the court of appeals brought his allegation of fraud and battery back to life.

Hunt recently issued a statement online saying he is willing to drop his lawsuit if he loses a fight to Dana White, Frank, and Lorenzo Fertitta. On the flip side, he wants a win for him to mean UFC would pay talent they have “ripped off.”

“Mark the super Samoan vs Dana the parasite White Lorenzo Fertita and Frank Fertita,” Hunt began in an Instagram post. “5 rounds mma these losers @danawhite frank Fertita Lorenzo Fertita has sucked the life out of so many fighters him and his scum friends -u win I drop the law suit-I win u pay every fighter u have ripped off since @ufc started now who would pay to see that.”

The United States District Court in Nevada recently ordered Hunt to pay nearly $400,000 to cover UFC’s legal fees. The ruling for Hunt to pay legal fees was made months back and was uncovered recently by Combat Sports Law.

The order for Hunt to pay the fees was made due to a part of Hunt’s contract with the UFC, which allows them to be awarded money for “its attorney’s fees and costs” if they are the “prevailing party” in a lawsuit. UFC was able to dismiss numerous motions in the case.

“Because I find that UFC is entitled to attorneys’ fees and costs under the parties’ agreement, its request is reasonable, and its motion is ripe, I grant UFC’s motion in its entirety,” said the Nevada court in a document dated March 25th, 2021.

Mark Hunt‘s feud with the UFC is not ending anytime soon — especially with its most recent development.

Hunt currently has an ongoing legal dispute against the UFC after accusing the Las Vegas-based promotion of knowingly hiding the results of Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test prior to their UFC 200 fight in the summer of 2016.

While most of the charges were dismissed in 2019, an appeal earlier this year saw lawsuit revived. Hunt sent a message to White at the time.

“U fkers said to me many many moons ago if I was a gambling man and I will ask u here the same question because u ain’t eva going to get rid of me I’m a motherfken gangsta and I got that rusty fork waiting for all of your bch a eyeballs.

“@danawhite u better kill me bra u ain’t going anywhere G u and your little puy freinds u bches have stolen from so many of us fighters and our families finally justice is about to start for u punk motherfkers enjoy it bch. And all of those who scoffed and laughed at me and said all sorts of sh** u can all kiss my black a** u filthy coward f**ks.”

Mark Hunt Offers To Fight White

With recent reports claiming Hunt had to pay over $380,000 in legal costs, it doesn’t look like the “Super Samoan” plans on doing that.

Instead, he called out White and the Fertitta brothers and offered to fight them under MMA rules.

If Hunt were to lose, he claims he would drop his lawsuit entirely. However, if Hunt won? The UFC would need to get its checkbook out.

“Mark the super Samoan vs Dana the parasite white Lorenzo Fertita and frank fertita

“5 rounds mma these losers @danawhite frank Fertita Lorenzo Fertita has sucked the life out of so many fighters him and his scum friends -u win I drop the law suit-I win u pay every fighter u have ripped off since @ufc started now who would pay to see that”

Of course, this will never happen in reality as Hunt’s fight will mainly be in the courtroom. It is a funny visual nonetheless though.

Mark Hunt and UFC president Dana White have had their differences, and the feud will continue after the heavyweight’s lawsuit has been revived in the courtroom.

The “Super Samoan” has been fighting inside the court and outside the Octagon for years now. In 2019, the court dismissed Hunt’s claims against the UFC. The former UFC heavyweight alleges that the company, and Dana White had knowledge of Brock Lesnar’s use of performance-enhancing drugs.

The two met each other in a highly publicized heavyweight bout back in 2016 at UFC 200 where Hunt lost by unanimous decision. Later, a No Contest result was rendered after Lesnar tested positive for illegal substances. Mark Hunt claims that the UFC and Dana White knew about the PEDs, and has since pursued litigation on the basis of fraud and battery.

Recently, the UFC and Endeavor have both been under fire for their support of the way the UFC pays fighters. After antagonizing the UFC boss, Mark Hunt is insistent that justice is finally on its way.

“U fkers said to me many many moons ago if I was a gambling man and I will ask u here the same question because u ain’t eva going to get rid of me I’m a motherfken gangsta and I got that rusty fork waiting for all of your bch a eyeballs.” Mark Hunt posted.

“@danawhite u better kill me bra u ain’t going anywhere G u and your little puy freinds u bches have stolen from so many of us fighters and our families finally justice is about to start for u punk motherfkers enjoy it bch. Hunt stated. And all of those who scoffed and laughed at me and said all sorts of sh** u can all kiss my black a** u filthy coward f**ks.”

Following lulls in litigation, a frustrated Mark Hunt voices to the UFC president that he’s not going anywhere, anytime soon. The 47-year-old last stepped into the Octagon against Justin Willis in 2018 and lost by unanimous decision.

The UFC has been publicly criticized for its pay structure. When the company became the target of a class-action lawsuit, they were forced to reveal its revenue-sharing aggregates. Following the reveal, many were in shock to see that the UFC is only paying roughly 16%-18% of revenue to its fighters. In comparison, major sporting leagues like the NFL and NBA are shelling out nearly 50% in revenue to their respective athletes.

The UFC isn’t done with Mark Hunt just yet.

It was recently reported that Hunt scored a big court win as the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit revived his lawsuit against the UFC for fraud and battery.

In 2019, the United States District Court for the District of Nevada dismissed the majority of Hunt’s claims which included that the fact that the UFC and Dana White knew Brock Lesnar had taken performance-enhancing drugs leading up to their UFC 200 fight.

To make matters worse — or more annoying — for the UFC, Hunt sent a message to White soon after.

“U fkers said to me many many moons ago if I was a gambling man and I will ask u here the same question because u ain’t eva going to get rid of me I’m a motherfken gangsta and I got that rusty fork waiting for all of your bch a eyeballs.

And all of those who scoffed and laughed at me and said all sorts of sh** u can all kiss my black a** u filthy coward f**ks.”

It’s certainly an interesting development as White and the UFC continue to receive criticism about fighter pay on almost a weekly basis now. We will definitely stay tuned for any updates.

Hunt lost a unanimous decision to Lesnar when they fought in a heavyweight contest back in the summer of 2016 at UFC 200.

Former UFC interim heavyweight title challenger, Mark ‘Super Samoan’ Hunt recently made his return to the squared circle for his third professional outing, in a Bankwest Stadium defeat to former Australian Rugby League player, Mark Gallen — after a scuffle at the weigh-ins earlier this week

Hunt, who dropped to 0-2-1 as a professional boxer, had failed to make the walk to the ring since the year 2000, where he battled to a draw with Joe Askew.

The renowned heavyweight knockout artist suffered his third consecutive loss in combat sports, failing to mount a comeback against the rallying Gallen, on his way to a (58-58 x2, and 58-55) unanimous decision loss over five-rounds.

The 46-year-old South Auckland native got off to a promising start in the outing, with Gallen admitted he was rocked in the second-round via a damaging shot from the Kiwi, who eventually seemed quite fatigued midway through the contest.

Involved in quite the public dispute with the UFC following his eventual ‘No Contest’ with former division kingpin, Brock Lesnar back at UFC 200 in July 2016, Hunt had suffered three consecutive defeats to Curtis Blaydes, Aleksei Oleinik, and Justin Willis prior to his release from the UFC back in 2018 having fought the final bout on his Octagon deal.

With a 13-14-1-(1) résumé as a professional mixed martial artist, kickboxing standout Hunt famously scored notable career victories over the likes of Dab Bobish, Wanderlei Silva, Mirko Cro Cop, Ben Rothwell, Cheick Kongo, Stefan Struve, Roy Nelson, Antonio Silva, Frank Mir, and Derrick Lewis.

During his nine-year stint in K-1 — Hunt managed to claim the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix, defeating the likes of Jerome Le Banner, and Stefan Leko, before a final triumph over Francisco Filho.

While Hunt slumped to a defeat, opponent, Gallen claimed he’d smash former UFC middleweight titleholder, Robert ‘The Reaper’ Whittaker as well.

UFC and Pride veteran Mark Hunt can’t wait until his next fight. Literally.

The fan-favourite Hunt made his name in MMA after transitioning from kickboxing. During an eight-fight run in Pride and an 18-fight run in the UFC, he fought some of the biggest names in the heavyweight division, including Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop, Fabricio Werdum and Brock Lesnar. He became known for his exciting stand-up style, particularly his now infamous walk-off knockouts. Ultimately, a three-fight losing streak – combined with a number of contractual and legal disputes – signaled the end of his time in the UFC.

The Super Somoan is scheduled to make his return to combat sports in a boxing match on December 16 in Australia. This will be Hunt’s third time getting into the boxing ring and the first time in 20 years. He dropped his debut in 1999 to Josh Wyborn and fought Joe Askew to a draw in 2000. He faces former rugby star Paul Gallen, who owns a 9-0-1 record against mostly unproven talent.

Things got heated between the two at the weigh-ins, as Gallen started trash talking during their face-off. Things quickly escalated and the men had to be separated before Hunt broke free and threw a left hook at his opponent.

Hunt spoke about his return to boxing last month in an interview with Submission Radio. He said that his return to the squared circle is a result of his desire to continue competing and a fair offer made by the promoter (H/T BJPenn).

“I’m a fighter at heart,” Hunt said. “I wanted to finish my career happy instead of being so bitter at fighting and fighting in general. Especially how they run things. I mean, yeah it was a good offer [to fight Paul Gallen]. Things have worked out well, we made a good deal. And it will be one of the biggest events in fighting on this card here in my home town, which I think is awesome. So, what better way than to finish it off with a couple of boxing fights and then move on, I think. I want to have six more fights, to be honest, and finish my career happy.”

This will be Hunt’s first competition since being released by the UFC in December 2018. It will be interesting to see how he fairs in the boxing ring and what kind of opponents he is squared off against. If he does decide to return to MMA at some point, he’s sure to have more than a few suitors bidding for his services.

How do you think Mark Hunt will do in boxing? Do you think we’ll ever see him compete in MMA again?
