Former heavyweight contender Mark Hunt believes it’s a matter of time before middleweight king Israel Adesanya begins speaking out about being underpaid by the UFC.

Hunt is currently suing the UFC who he accused of conspiring with Brock Lesnar to conceal his return to MMA and skip over the mandatory United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing period. Lesnar went on to defeat Mark Hunt by unanimous decision but later tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Prior to his troubles with the UFC, Hunt actually recommended they sign Israel Adesanya who has since gone on the become one of the biggest stars in MMA.

“I know Izzy, and I know all the CKB boys,” Hunt told Submission Radio. “And like I said, he’s doing good things in the sport and I think he’s great. And I always knew he’s gonna get there, cause I did talk to Dana about him a long, long time ago before he actually got signed.”

“I told Dana, I said, there’s this guy, he’s a great fighter, he’s amazing, I’ve seen him do kickboxing. I mean, even before they were trying to get him. And I knew he was world class already because I’ve seen him. A friend of mine took me to see him do a kickboxing fight in New Zealand. And like I said, I did message Dana a long time ago about Izzy and how talented this kid was. His mind for fighting is amazing. He’s done boxing, kickboxing, and I knew he was the new era in fighting. And I messaged Dana, and he wouldn’t have a bar of it. And look, three or four, five years later down the track, Izzy’s headlining, he’s the new guy.”

The UFC have had a tough 2020 in terms of fighter relations, with long-time 205lb champion Jon Jones and fan favourite Jorge Masvidal publicly complaining about their pay. Hunt suspects it won’t be long until Adesanya joins them by speaking out in an effort to get his fair share.

“It will only take time until he realizes that money and the revenue share should be talked about,” Hunt said. And that’s coming. So, what do you think they’re gonna do? They’re gonna do the same thing they did with Jones. ‘How do we keep this guy quiet? How do we shut him up? We need him to lose. How do they do these things?’ They’re not dumb. These people making these kinds of money can see all this and realize what’s happening. So, why would anyone want to change what’s happening already, when they can be paid fruitfully off all the blood and sweat of these fighters? So, it’s just a matter of time before Izzy starts speaking up about pay and all of that. Otherwise, they’re going to have to look after him properly.”

“Making these title things. I just don’t feel like he’s making the type of money he should be making. You know, five million dollars is a lot of money, but he’s up in the bracket of 20-30 million dollars cause of all the people watching him.”

Do you think Mark Hunt is right? Will Israel Adesanya soon start to complain about his pay?

Hunt To Return To Boxing?

Mark Hunt is reportedly returning to combat sports.

Hunt hasn’t competed since suffering defeat in the last fight of his UFC deal following his unanimous decision defeat to Justin Willis back in December 2018.

However, “the Super Samoan” could be back in October this year as he will be facing ex-rugby player turned boxer Paul Gallen in a boxing match. Gallen confirmed the matchup to 2GB Radio and stated it would take place on either October 30 or 31.

MMA Fighting would confirm the pending matchup and although no location is confirmed, The Daily Telegraph report that the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand could host the event. That was where UFC Auckland — headlined by Dan Hooker and Paul Felder in February — notably took place.

Hunt, 46, has competed in boxing before but last did so back in 2000. The former UFC heavyweight contender holds a 0-1-1 record.

Gallen, on the other hand, holds a 9-0-1 record in boxing since beginning his professional career in 2014. His most recent outing was a majority decision draw against fellow Aussie Barry Hall in November.

Do you believe this boxing match will happen? And will you be watching it, if so?

Heavyweight knockout artist Mark Hunt has revealed he is planning to fight in boxing and MMA before calling it a career. The 46-year-old hasn’t fought since 2018 and is currently riding a three-fight losing streak. Hunt is also entrenched in a bitter legal battle with his former employers UFC which has eaten into the last few years of his career in fighting.

Speaking exclusively to LowKickMMA, Hunt revealed he is hoping to get back to fighting later this year in both boxing and MMA before hanging them up, he said.

“Yeah, we are looking at September – we’ll see what happens I’ve got a couple of things in the pipeline. I’m looking forward to ending my career. Like I’ve said I’ve been pretty bitter, not bitter but sour with the ending of my career with UFC and how things have turned out.”

“I’m just going to do a couple of boxing fights then look at doing some MMA to finish my career off (and) make some money. I’ve still got some lawsuits to pay for but, yeah, end my career happy. On a note where it’s under my terms, not some slave-driving company forcing you to fight.”

Despite having had a lengthy spell on the sidelines Hunt insists he’s still all in on fighting and he still believes he is capable of beating the worlds best fighters.

“I’m still in the battle. I’m still fighting as always, never give up as always, and especially when you get into this sort of business you’re all in or all out. You can’t sit halfway on the high way because you’ll get run over”

“The way I feel at the moment I still feel like I can beat some of the best fighters in the word. I still feel like I’m one of the best fighters in the world.”

Do you think Mark Hunt is still capable of beating the worlds best fighters?

Former UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt has blamed “d*ckhead” Dana White for bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo retiring post-fight at UFC 249 on May 9. ‘Triple C’ made the announcement after making a successful first title defence against 135lb great Dominick Cruz.

Speaking exclusively to LowKickMMA Hunt wanted to make it very clear he doesn’t support the UFC and urges the fans to do the same as the promotion continues to rip off fighters.

“I don’t support the UFC in any way,” Hunt said. “I say to the fans do not support them because they are not supporting the fighters. They’re are not looking after the fighters because they are not even employees, they are sub-contractors.”

“Who gives a sh*t about Fight Island? Fucking Dana (White) is just a d*ckhead trying to rip everyone off. He’s not trying too he is still ripping everyone off!”

Hunt also took time to react to the seemingly premature retirement of former dual weight UFC champion Cejudo, who many believe is walking away from the sport as he’s not earning enough money.

“That’s exactly what I’m talking about and I know this stuff because I was in it,” Hunt said. “I never got the title but if I did I would’ve been exactly like Henry Cejudo and the rest of them – speaking my mind and telling I want more. When you’re a top end prize-fighter or world champion you don’t need to ask more. If that was a boxing champion do you think they would be asking for more? No! Like I said, they’re not sharing the entire revenue, they (fighters) are only getting a small percentage and that’s totally wrong.”

“These fighters should be getting paid accordingly and they’re not and you can see that by guys like a world champion, Triple C, Henry Cejudo saying ‘I need more money’. Why is that Henry? Is there something wrong? ‘Yeah, because I’m not getting my worth. I’m not getting what I’m supposed to be getting.’”

Do you agree with Mark Hunt? Is Dana White trying to rip off fighters and causing guys like Henry Cejudo to retire early?

Veteran heavyweight fighter Mark Hunt says he has appealed his previously thrown out lawsuit against the UFC.

In a LowKick MMA exclusive interview, Hunt shared the state of his lawsuits against the UFC. Regarding the first case being dismissed the former UFC Heavyweight believes something must have gone on behind the scenes.

“The first one we got hometowned, it was thrown out cause in Las Vegas those pricks f****ng pay them all off or some shit you know. But the same thing with Ken Shamrock he had an open and shut case and his case got thrown out so they got hometowned which means I don’t know what happened, they just got cheated so you know. And I had to go to an appeal, I’ve gone to an appeal now.”

Continuing further Hunt shared what had unfolded during this process.

“I went to settlement hearing and the only thing they told me was get the f**k out of here we’re gonna drop the lawsuit or we’re gonna come after you for the, whatever it is they’re gonna owe $1,000,000 or something US. So it was like, you just told me to get the f**k out of here and oh yeah, that’s fine just launch the appeal let’s do it so you know, round two not too far away to hear what they’ve got to say about this and I think this is going to go to a trial maybe you know, that’s what I’d like to go to a trial, and that’s probably like next week or something we hear about that. So you know hopefully this goes to trial and I’d like to see what else there f*****s are hiding in their cupboards. All these skeletons that have made all their money and cash from ripping everyone off”.

Hunt also shared information about a second lawsuit he is a part of against the UFC.

“That’s just one of my lawsuits, I’m with the antitrust lawsuit which is the other one so that’s probably going to be another year or so but um, we’re fighting to bring the Ali act in”.

The Ali Act was a U.S. federal law brought in to halt all forms of abuse such as exploitation, rigged bouts and unfair mismatches against boxers by promoters.

Currently, no such act stands in place in MMA, which is something the lawsuit aims to change.
