Nate Diaz was involved in a comical street fight incident along with Marvin Vettori, according to comedian Shane Gillis.
Coming off a loss to the reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards in his last outing at UFC 263 in Jun. 2021, Diaz is slated to take on the rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev in the headlining bout of UFC 279 on Sep. 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ahead of the highly-awaited matchup, a hilarious story about the fan-favorite Diaz was revealed by Gillis.
Shane Gillis shares a comical Nate Diaz street fight story
Gillis, who had just recorded his appearance on the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Joe Rogan, linked up with Diaz after the show. He recounted the scenes that transpired after hanging out with Diaz.
“We walked outside and he front kicked a stranger,” Gillis said. “He got into a fight with a stranger immediately. Everybody that comes up, he’s like, ‘let’s get a picture, yeah, f**k you,’ and all that. Then, one dude walked up that was jacked and Nate Diaz, just immediately was like, ‘yo, you want to run up on us?’ As soon as Nate called him out, obviously, the dude was like, ‘what’s up?’ Nate was immediately like, ‘what’s up?’ Then his boys jumped in and pulled him apart. While they are pulling him apart, he threw a front kick. He connected on this dude’s hip. He just flew everywhere.”
Gillis reported that Marvin Vettori was involved as well
Former middleweight title challenger Marvin Vettori is scheduled to take on the former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of UFC Paris this Saturday at Accor Arena, in the promotion’s debut in France.
Gillis reported that Vettori was with them as well, and cautioned the rest of the crew.
“Marvin Vettori was with us also, who’s a middleweight beast. He was with us like, ‘don’t f**k with me.’”

UFC middleweight contenders Robert Whittaker and Marvin Vettori will square off in the co-main of UFC Paris on Saturday.
Both fighters will step into the Octagon in fairly similar situations. ‘The Reaper’ and ‘The Italian Dream’ have more than proven themselves in a competitive 185-pound division, but both could find it difficult to land a title opportunity with a win in ‘The City of Light.’ Whittaker and Vettori have both faced, and lost to UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya on two separate occasions. A trilogy bout would be a tough sell, assuming ‘The Last Stylebender’ gets past his next challenger, Alex Pereira at UFC 281 in November.
The two went face-to-face during the UFC Paris weigh-ins. Things got a little chippy when the always professional Robert Whittaker offered his hand to Vettori. ‘The Italian Dream’ acted as though he was going to accept the show of sportsmanship, but instead, pulled his hand away and proceeded to get in Whittaker’s face, trash-talking the former middleweight world champion.
It was nothing new for the No. 2 ranked middleweight who has embraced flamboyance and attitude as he made his way near the top of the division rankings.
Robert Whittaker Believes Marvin Vettori is Underestimating His Skills
No. 1 ranked contender Robert Whittaker expects Marvin Vettori to come out pushing the pace and turning their UFC Paris showdown into a brawl. Even so, ‘The Reaper’ believes he will hold the advantage over the Italian-born striker.
“He wants to turn it into a dog fight,” Whittaker told reporters at Thursday’s UFC Paris media day. “He wants to turn it into a barroom brawl – that’s his fight style: get up close, push up against the fence, box you up, take you down, wear you out. That’s what he does.
“I’m very different. I’m in, out, I hit hard, I hit fast. I’m technically better than him, I believe. I think I’m going to hit him too much. I think I’m going to be too much for him. I think he’s underestimating how good I am, how fast I am, how hard I hit, and I think that’ll come out on Saturday.”

Marvin Vettori made some comments recently on his middleweight contemporary Darren Till. While ‘The Italian Dream’ is preparing for his UFC Paris showdown against Robert Whittaker this weekend, he made some scorching remarks on his formerly booked opponent during the pre-fight press conference.
Vettori and ‘The Gorilla’ were booked to meet in April of 2021, however, the English-born Till was forced to withdraw from this fight due to a collarbone injury. Over a year later, Vettori says he has been calling out anyone in the middleweight division for a fight, except Till. The 28-year-old Vettori had this to say about the Englishman:
“I don’t think I ever even called out Darren Till. Like he’s actually completely irrelevant at this point. I think in the division he’s literally zero. Delusional also … He’s done. To be honest, I don’t think he’s ever going to come back.”

Darren Till responds to Marvin Vettori
The British fighter Till heard the words from Vettori and did not take too kindly to them. In response to his former booked opponent, the 29-year-old spoke with Brett Okamoto of ESPN and said:
“Marvin, listen, you big stupid b*stard: I wish you all the best this week in your fight. I hope you do really well because you’re a great fighter. But let’s get one thing straight, brother: Right – I’m 29. When I’m healthy, it’s just fight, fight, fight. That’s all I’ll be doing. There’s nothing I think about more than just fighting, so what are you talking about, mate? Stop trying to put me down, you big stupid orc b*stard, because we’re going to meet one day and I’m going to drive my fist through your face.” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Junkie]
Darren Till is currently training alongside UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev to help get him prepared for his UFC 279 fight against Nate Diaz. As for in Octagon action, ‘The Gorilla’ has not returned to the UFC since his last two consecutive losses, the most recent being in late 2021.
Meanwhile ‘The Italian Dream’ Marvin Vettori will be fighting to get back into the title picture as he faces former UFC Middleweight World Champion ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night this weekend.
