“Don’t leave it to the judges,” is an endlessly repeated refrain inside the world of MMA. Those six words have been uttered by everyone from the freshest MMA fan to the UFC’s president Dana White.

Often fans that have watched the fight from the comfort of their own homes have slapped their heads in wonder when the judges scorecards were read at the conclusion of a fight.

To paraphrase Bob Dylan, the times may be a-changin’ in MMA, more specifically with the UFC. UFC 131 will be the first UFC event that will allow the judges video monitors. Later this week, the Nevada State Athletic Commission will discuss allowing video monitors at UFC 130.

The judges are currently at a disadvantage to those viewing the fights at home. The judges, get one angle and can often miss the subtle (or not so subtle) nuances the at home viewer can easily see.

If judges are allowed monitors at every MMA event, the following controversial decisions  may have turned out different.

Rampage Is ‘Not Excited’ About Hamill Match-Up

(You’re joking, right? He used a fake penis for his urine test? Doesn’t that make him gay?)

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was on MMAFighting’s The MMA Hour yesterday and he expressed his distaste with being paired up with a replacement Matt Hamill at UFC 130 when  his original opponent Thiago Silva was forced off the card after being suspended for falsifying a urine test to hide steroid use.

“Thiago Silva is the type of guy I would love to fight because he has great stand up and he comes to fight most of the time, so I was looking forward to fighting a guy like that,” Jackson explained. “Matt Hamill wasn’t on my radar at all. I wasn’t excited at all. But then again, not a whole lot gets me excited.”

Hammil has been quoted as saying he plans on breaking the former UFC light heavyweight champion’s will, and in the video above, besides eating Greek twice a week, he says that he plans to do so on the feet.

Jackson scoffed at the notion.

“He’s just got to jive himself up so he actually thinks he can stay with me. If you’ve seen my fights over history, I don’t think my will gets broken too often for anybody to even say that. Matt Hamill is a great wrestler and stuff like that, but I’ve got more experience than him and I’ve fought a lot tougher people than he’s fought,” he pointed out. “He’s got a while to go before he can say he can break anybody’s will.”

He went on to tell host Ariel Helwani that he will be the one deciding the outcome of the bout and that he will do so in emphatic fashion.

“I just know that I plan to go out there and be very aggressive and very exciting,” he said. “That’s all I know.”

Jackson’s comments about not being excited for the fight stand in contrast to the comments of Hamill, who said he plans to break Jackson’s will. But Jackson says that the difference between their public comments is simple: Hamill needs to convince himself that he can beat Jackson, while Jackson already knows that he can beat Hamill.

There is sure to be plenty of criticism about the upcoming UFC 130 fight card.

With the lightweight title rubber match between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard scrapped due to injuries, the card doesn’t really have that standout fight worthy of headlining a UFC pay-per-view.

With that said, this is still an incredible card full of exciting style match-ups.

Critics may down the card for not boasting a significant main event, but these are usually the kind of cards that end up being the most exciting. It’s extremely rare that stacked cards like UFC 129 lives up to the monumental hype that it did.

We are less than two weeks away from UFC 130, which takes place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here are five key questions heading into the event.

UFC News: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Says He Won’t Fight Past 35 Years Old

After recent reports suggested that Quinton Jackson was fighting on borrowed time, as he planned to pursue an acting career and depart mixed martial arts altogether, the Memphis,Tennessee native downplayed the rumours quickly.

While speaking to ESPN.co.uk, Jackson said he was misquoted by the media and insisted he is training hard for his upcoming bout with Matt Hamill at UFC 130.

“Matt Hamill’s a tough guy with good wrestling, and he moves forward. So hopefully it’ll be an exciting fight,” Jackson said.

Jackson and Hamill were originally featured in the co-main event but after both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard became injured, the two light-heavyweights quickly found themselves promoted to main event status.

Never one to shy away from a camera or a microphone, Jackson’s colorful personality has contributed to his success in and outside of the UFC. Last year, Jackson was cast alongside actor Bradley Cooper in the remake of The A-Team.

And while he has shown a desire to continue his acting career, Jackson’s first priority is to fight but he does not intend to be doing it for much longer.

Jackson, who turns 33 this year, admits he is not the same fighter he used to be.

“There are young guys coming in and doing good. I’ve been fighting for a long time and it’s no secret that I don’t fight the same way I used to,” he said.

“Going through each camp I go through all these pains and think, ‘Man I don’t want to do this anymore’. But after the fight I say, ‘OK, I’ll give it one more’. So who knows? But at 35 I’m done.”

UFC 130: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Vows To "Whoop Matt Hamill’s Ass"

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson returns to the Octagon on May 28 where he meets Matt “The Hammer” Hamill in a light heavyweight slugfest.  The fight now takes on even more meaning.

A few short days ago, Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard each suffered an injury in training and were forced off the card.  The Jackson vs. Hamill matchup now has become the main event for UFC 130.

In a recent interview with ESPN.com, Rampage assured his fans that he will “whoop Matt Hamill’s ass” when they meet in the Octagon.

Rampage is coming off a lackluster fight in which he won a decision over Lyoto Machida. The last three fights he has participated in have gone to the judge’s scorecards for a decision. The fact of the matter is that Matt Hamill is not nearly as big of a name as Lyoto Machida or Rashad Evans, however Jackson said that he will take this fight seriously.

“If Matt Hamill thinks I’ll take him lightly, he’s mistaken this time,” Jackson said. “My coach won’t let me take my opponents lightly. I like to finish people. I want a devastating finish.”

He went on to say, “I’m a fighter in the true sense of the words Ultimate Fighter. I have the fighter’s spirit, and I’m not afraid to do anything. I’m not afraid to fight anybody.”

It is clear that if the fight remains standing, Jackson will be at a great advantage, but wrestling has been used to wear Rampage down before. He will have a constantly open to watch for a take down attempt so he can sprawl and get back to his boxing. Jackson remains confident that he will win the fight regardless of the course the fight takes.

“I’m gonna try to do to Matt Hamill what I try to do to all my opponents: Whoop his ass,” Jackson said. “There’s not one doubt in my mind that I can whoop Matt Hamill.”
