Douglas Lima MFC champFriday night at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario the Maximum Fighting Championship will hold their first event in that Province with it’s MFC 29: Conquer show. Fans can tune in on HDNet tomorrow night and watch MFC welterweight champ Douglas “The Phenom” Lima (17-4) defend his title for the first time when he meets veteran and former UFC fighter Terry Martin (20-8).

Lima, who trains out of the American Top Team gym in Atlanta, Georgia has been busy preparing himself over the last two months to meet a fighter who has fought at 205 lbs, 185 lbs, and 170 lbs over his career. “The Phenom” has trained all aspects of his fight game for his upcoming match with Martin, but still feels he’s got a long way to go to be a complete fighter.

The Brazilian born fighter spoke to MMADieHards.com recently about the upcoming fight.

“People want what I have right now because I’m the champion, so I train extra hard and look at the fight as if I’m fighting for the belt. I don’t look at it as I’m the champion and I have to do this. I just want to go in there and fight my fight, and forget about the belt or championship or whatever and just do what I do in training…”

“I’d like to think I’m complete, but there’s a lot of work to do. I’ve been training since I was three years old, I got a brown belt in jiu-jitsu, I’ve been doing Muay Thai for the last eight years, but I still want to get better in every area. I want to improve my stand-up, my jiu-jitsu and my wrestling especially.

“I’m young though, I’m a kid to this sport. That’s how I look at it. I’m still learning and getting better and I expect to be better when I come to every fight. I am training to be a perfect fighter.”

Douglas brother Dhiego Lima is also fighting on Fridays show and meets Josh Taveirne on the unaired prelim card of the event.
