UFC 217 is just one day away, and the promotion has already held weigh-ins for the fighters who will step inside the world-famous octagon to compete in New York at Madison Square Garden. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6:30 p.m. ET.

No one missed weight when they took the scales on Friday (November 3rd, 2017) morning. A few hours later, the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) held the ceremonial weigh-ins for the live crowd and world to see the fighters staredown one more time before fight night.

For months now, the promotion has hyped the main event which will see former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre return to action after being out of the fight game for nearly four years to take on the current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.

The lead up to this fight has been tension with both fighters exchanging words not just on social media but in person while promoting what could be the biggest fight that the promotion has put on thus far this year.

At the ceremonial weigh-ins, Bisping was trash talking the former champion just like had been leading up to the fight. After months of this, all “GSP” could do at this point was laugh and so he did. You can check out the staredown here:

Cody Garbrandt vs. T.J. Dillashaw for the UFC bantamweight title is expected to serve as the co-main event. Rounding out this stacked five bout main card is Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Rose Namajunas in a strawweight title bout, Stephen Thompson vs. Jorge Masvidal in a welterweight bout, and Johny Hendricks vs. Paulo Borrachinha in a middleweight bout.

It seems everyone within the MMA (mixed-martial-arts) community has an opinion on the upcoming middleweight title fight between champion Michael Bisping and former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Bisping has yet to face a No. 1 contender since winning the UFC middleweight championship 15 months ago from Luke Rockhold at UFC 199. Thus, many people believe that interim titleholder Robert Whittaker is the true champion.

Top tier middleweight fighter Derek Brunson is not completely against that idea. If you recall, Brunson was someone who came closer to beating Whittaker in the Octagon than anyone when they fought in Melbourne last November. Whittaker was able to score a first-round TKO victory over Bunson.

Brunson recently did an interview where he stated that Bisping vs. GSP is kind of ridiculous.

“Why not?” Brunson told MMA Fighting. “I have nothing against Bisping and I have nothing against how he does his business. It is kind of ridiculous, he’s holding up the division. I know he’s waiting for big fights, he’s about be done with his career, so I kind of give it to him in this aspect. At the same time, we’re trying to get this division going, the champ being active and everybody moving up.”

Bisping was able to capture the title following a first-round upset against Rockhold. Bisping, who took the fight on short notice, went onto defended it in a rematch with Dan Henderson last October. There’s a possibility “The Count” retires after his upcoming bout with the former champion.

Brunson went 1-1 since losing to Whittaker by dropping a close decision against former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva and coming back with a first-round knockout over Daniel Kelly. Now, he is scheduled to take on Lyoto Machida in the main event of UFC Sao Paulo in Brazil this coming Saturday. Brunson believes Bisping would come out on top.

“Man, that’s such a tough one,” he said of who wins at Madison Square Garden. “I might go with Bisping. I might go with Bisping in a point-fighting situation. But I can see GSP holding him down, ground and pound. But I might take Bisping.”

With former welterweight champion and longtime PPV draw Georges Saint Pierre returning next month at UFC 217, the idea of a possible matchup between GSP and lightweight champ Conor McGregor has inevitably popped up.

UFC President Dana White seemed relatively enthusiastic when asked about the idea by Damon Martin of MMA Weekly this week:

“GSP would need to defend his title first at 185 [pounds] and Conor has some business to handle himself. It would be a year and a half down the road before we would even talk about that.

“Everybody’s intriguing for Conor McGregor. I mean, if you look at Conor McGregor at 145, 155 and 170 [pounds], everything is intriguing.”

White did acknowledge GSP’s upcoming middleweight title fight against champ Michael Bisping coming up on November 4, but was honest in his opinion that the matchup would most likely be a massive draw.

St. Pierre, however, didn’t say no to the idea but remains laser-like focused on Bisping as he prepares to be the first UFC fighter to hold the welterweight and middleweight belts.

“He’s an amazing fighter, it would be an amazing honor, but I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. If the fans want it and he wants it maybe it will happen but right now, I’m focused on Bisping,” GSP said earlier this month.

Meanwhile, McGregor has been MIA since his 10th round TKO loss in boxing to Floyd Mayweather in August. No word yet on when he will return and who he will return against.

Would you like to see a fight between GSP and McGregor? How would that fight play out?

We knew the trash talk between current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre would pick up on Friday as the two took part in a press conference to hype their upcoming title bout at the next UFC PPV (pay-per-view) event, UFC 217.

We just didn’t think that it would get out of hand after the presser was over. The trash talk between these two talented fighters spilled out into the backstage area after the press conference in Toronto.

The confrontation was caught on video thanks to TMZ. Don’t worry, we have a video of it. It went down when Bisping approached GSP after the event and told him not to put his hands on him.

If you recall, during the staredown on the stage for the media, St-Pierre slapped away Bisping, who was pointing a finger in St-Pierre’s face.

“If you put your hands on a man, that means you got a f*cking problem,” Bisping said inside the Hockey Hall of Fame. “Keep your f*cking hands to yourself, pal. I will knock you f*cking out right now.”

GSP shot back that Bisping touched him first and make no mistake about it, GSP is not afraid of Bisping, so he says.

“I’m not afraid of you, I don’t give a damn,” GSP said. “I will break you, man. I will break you. … Touch me again, I’m gonna break you.”

Since the fight was announced for the second time, the UFC champion has been trying to get under GSP’s skin, and after doing various media events to promote this fight, it seems that he has succeeded in his quest. During the verbal altercation, Bisping faked a jab to St-Pierre’s face.

“You little f*cking nerd,” Bisping said. “Look at you, look at the state of you. You don’t do f*ck all, man. You won’t do a f*cking thing. I’ll break your f*cking jaw. Don’t try and act tough, because I doesn’t suit you. You look stupid.”

UFC 217 is set to take place on Saturday, November 4th in New York at Madison Square Garden. Cody Garbrandt vs. T.J. Dillashaw for the UFC bantamweight title is expected to serve as the co-main event.

Michael Bisping Promises To Retire ‘Slow & Fat’ GSP Once & For All

Middleweight champion Michael Bisping has not held back in the seemingly never ending lead-up to his title defense against former welterweight kingpin Georges Saint Pierre.

Bisping began his verbal onslaught against GSP ever since their fight was first announced, and continued his campaign after their fight was rescheduled for UFC 217.

While GSP is going up a weight class to challenge Bisping, “The Count” insists he will send the French Canadian back into retirement.

Bisping discussed his thoughts on GSP last week at a UFC 217 press conference (MMAFighting.com):

“He still looks like a lizard. I said that at the last press conference, and he still looks like one now. He looks like a blown-up version of himself, trying to get bigger. He’s the biggest Georges St-Pierre that we’ve ever seen, but he’s still the smallest guy that I’m ever going to fight. I was 15-0 at light heavyweight, I’m the world champion at middleweight. He’s a blown-up welterweight. I mean, he’s bringing in all these trainers. He’s got Freddie Roach down there. Freddie Roach is a great boxing coach, but he doesn’t know f*ck-all about MMA. He couldn’t even spell UFC, let alone MMA.”

“This p*ssy only wants to fight me. He doesn’t want to fight anybody else, because he thinks he can take me down and control me on the floor.”

GSP hasn’t fought since a narrow decision victory over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 back in 2013. He retired after that fight and in turn vacated the welterweight title.

Now four years later, GSP returns as a middleweight, in an effort to take the belt that Bisping won after knocking out Luke Rockhold last year.

Bisping went off on GSP’s coach, famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach, who has worked with the former champ for years:

“He’s training with Freddie Roach. I hope to God, Freddie, you’re trying to turn him into a boxer. I hope he comes out and tries to stand with me, but we all know that’s not going to happen. He’s going to jab, try to take me down. Why? Because we trained together a long time ago and he outwrestled me back then, but that was 12 years ago. But that’s what he thinks is going to happen, so I knew this fight would come off because he hasn’t got the balls to fight anyone who he doesn’t think he can beat, like Anderson Silva, like many other people.”

Will GSP’s return at middleweight prove to be victorious? Or will Bisping defend his belt for the second time?
