UFC star Jorge Masvidal has further addressed his newfound rivalry with rising welterweight Michel Pereira, claiming he’d be down to talk to the Brazilian “in the street.”

The back and forth between ranked contenders Masvidal and Pereira began in the immediate aftermath of the latter’s co-main event victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Vegas 55. Following the result, Pereira accused Masvidal of messaging his wife.

Not one to be accused of homewrecking, “Gamebred” was quick to collect the receipts, showing that Pereira’s wife actually messaged him on Instagram.

While the Brazilian’s partner, Gina Amir Atelier, attempted to clear the air in a statement, Pereira recently turned the attention back to a desired fight with Masvidal during an interview with the Olhar da Luta YouTube channel.

“He’s on a three-fight skid and doesn’t want to fight me? What is he, scared? Or maybe it’s about money. All those guys think about is money,” claimed Pereira.

While Masvidal would dispute the first query, it seems that Pereira was right about one thing: he doesn’t offer the lucrative matchup Masvidal is after.

Masvidal Tells Pereira: “You’re Literally Nobody”

During his Wednesday appearance on The MMA Hour, Masvidal addressed his latest UFC feud, questioning whether Pereira’s wife’s messages were a deliberate ploy to lay the foundation for a future matchup.

While the storyline has certainly been created, the Miami native said that the #14-ranked contender is missing a number of elements required to be an appropriate opponent, namely drawing power and a high placement on the welterweight ladder.

“How do you put your wife out there like that? And then you see what happened,” said Masvidal. “I don’t know if he told her, ‘Hey, hit this guy up ’cause this is how I’m gonna make this big narrative and we’re gonna get into a fight.’

“If he wants to scrap, when I see his b*tch-ass I’ll scrap him, but as far as like, getting money, or him being a ranked guy, or somebody that I care to fight, nah, he doesn’t fit any of those categories,” added Masvidal. “He has to make up this fictitious story about me wanting his chick. I don’t even remember what she looks like.”

With that in mind, Masvidal has no desire to share the Octagon with Pereira but is happy to sort things on the streets. Given his ongoing legal case following a meeting on the Miami streets with Colby Covington earlier this year, perhaps that wouldn’t be the best idea…

“I wish them nothing but happiness in their, whatever they call it together. But as far as me and this f*cker goes, if he sees me in the street, then we can talk about it,” said Masvidal. “But in the cage? Bro, you’re literally nobody.

“You’ve got time to put in, wins to do. Maybe you should try out for Olympic diving or something, because that’s the type of sh*t you’re doing. You’re not really fighting, you’re making a circus show out of it. This guy doesn’t entertain me in any way,” concluded Masvidal.

While Pereira’s unique and eccentric fighting style has undoubtedly entertained some, Masvidal is clearly not onboard with it. However, the Brazilian has notably toned down the acrobatics in recent times as he’s edged closer to the top of the division.

Should he collect a few more triumphs and ascend towards the #8-ranked Masvidal, perhaps the ‘BMF’ titleholder will be more open to throwing down with “Demolidor” inside the cage.

Pereira Returns Fire At “King Of Excuses” Masvidal After Wife Drama

UFC welterweight Michael Pereira has attempted to divert his newfound rivalry with Jorge Masvidal away from the controversy with his wife and back to a potential fight inside the Octagon.

Did anyone having ‘Pereira calls out Masvidal for sliding into his wife’s DMs’ on their UFC Vegas 55 bingo card?

Of all the stories to come out of May’s final event, this blossoming feud was perhaps the most unexpected. After the Brazilian expressed his desire to punish the Miami native for an apparent approach to his wife, Gina Amir Atelier, Masvidal responded by turning the tables and accusing Pereira’s partner of messaging him.

While nothing has been heard from Pereira until now, his wife did attempt to clear her name, posting a lengthy text on Instagram in which she insisted that the message in question came from someone else who had access to the “business account.”

Now, Pereira has broken his somewhat silence, but he’s focused more on Masvidal’s exploits inside the cage than his activities on social media.

During an interview with the Olhar da Luta YouTube channel, “Demolidor” addressed Masvidal’s recent callout of MMA megastar Conor McGregor, suggesting that the ‘BMF’ titleholder continues to target top fighters despite his losing streak.

As well as branding Masvidal the “king of excuses’ for avoiding him, Pereira claimed that the former two-time title challenger is either afraid of sharing the Octagon with him, or simply pursuing the biggest paycheck possible.

“I saw a video of him today, saying he wants to fight Conor McGregor,” Pereira said. “All that guy does is lose and he wants to face top guys. I don’t get it. I’ll get him, though. Don’t worry, I’ll get him soon. I have the longest win streak in the division after Kamaru Usman.

“I want to see what his excuse is going to be. Those guys always have an excuse. Masvidal is the king of excuses. He’s on a three-fight skid and doesn’t want to fight me? What is he, scared? Or maybe it’s about money. All those guys think about is money.” (h/t Bloody Elbow)

Pereira’s initial callout came after he emerged on the right side of a split decision verdict against Santiago Ponzinibbio. With the victory, which marked his fifth straight inside the Octagon, the Brazilian secured his ascent into the welterweight rankings.

Should he improve his current #14 position next time out, he’ll likely close the gap between himself and the #8-ranked Masvidal.

UFC welterweight Michel Pereira has doubled down on his trash talk against Jorge Masvidal.

Following a close-fought contest with Santiago Ponzinibbio that saw Pereira come out on top by a split decision, the 28-year-old fired shots at ‘Gamebred’ at UFC Vegas 55’s post-fight scrum.

In a recent interview with Olhar da Luta, Michel Pereira talked about Jorge Masvidal’s career skid since his outing against Nate Diaz in November 2019. ‘Gamebred’ went on to drop three in a row including two to the champion Kamaru Usman, and his latest loss to Colby Covington.

“I saw a video of him today, saying he wants to fight Conor McGregor,” Pereira said. “All that guy does is lose and he wants to face top guys. I don’t get it. I’ll get him, though. Don’t worry, I’ll get him soon. I have the longest win streak in the division after Kamaru Usman.”

Pereira slammed the Cuban-American for avoiding fights that he deemed to be on Masvidal’s level given the recent losing streak he’s been on.

“I want to see what his excuse is going to be. Those guys always have an excuse. Masvidal is the king of excuses. He’s on a three-fight skid and doesn’t want to fight me? What is he, scared? Or maybe it’s about money. All those guys think about is money.”

Masvidal calls out Conor McGregor

While Masvidal has continued to trade verbal jabs with Conor McGregor over the years, nothing solid had ever come out of the talks online. Earlier this week, ‘Gamebred’ went in on ‘The Notorious’ claiming that he takes steroids, is avoiding him, and more in a fresh callout to add to the list.

Speaking to ESPN Deportes, Masvidal shared his thoughts on how he sees a potential matchup against the Irish superstar going down.

“He is false,” Masvidal began. “He knows that I am a man who hits hard and that I come to kill. I do not come to hug in the cage. I am going to give everything inside me to kill him. I have a little size but he is still a little boy.”

UFC welterweight contender Michel Pereira nearly found himself in a physical altercation with heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Pereira is fresh off his win over Santiago Ponzinibbio in the UFC Vegas 55 co-headliner. He earned the victory via a split decision and has now won five in a row over the likes of Niko Price and Andre Fialho.

During a recent interview with Canal Encarada, Pereira detailed what happened after his win over Ponzinibbio that led to a furious Ngannou.

“We celebrated my victory at the hotel, had fun,” Pereira said. “And we are such guys – we move only with music, we constantly light up, even when we cut weight. I always rock, and my guys are the same.

“Constantly moving noisily, having parties. Guerra was drinking there non-stop, everyone was joking, bantering. And our room was next door to Ngannou. And since the room was small, and there were a lot of people, someone suggested, ‘Let’s sit in the hallway?’ And we sat down in the corridor, and immediately came out to us – who would you think? Ngannou. The guys look at each other like that, ‘Wow, Ngannou is coming.’

“He comes up and says, ‘Hey, do you think it’s real to fall asleep when there’s such a noise? How do I sleep, huh?’ Honestly, at that moment I felt uncomfortable,” Pereira continued. “I was after a hard fight, my nose was broken, my legs were beaten off.

“If Ngannou started a fight, what would I do to him? The team is already all drunk, they wouldn’t have helped me in any way.” (h/t talkSPORT)

Pereira went on to clarify that Ngannou’s reasoning for the altercation wasn’t the problem, it was his tone.

“Honestly, Ngannou made me angry,” Pereira admitted. “Why couldn’t he address us politely? He was lucky that I was all beaten up and couldn’t do anything, especially for a guy of this size. I don’t even want to think about it. I know he’s a modest, nice guy, but why couldn’t he tell us politely, ‘Hey, guys, could you …’ I didn’t like the way he spoke to us. You need to be polite to people.”

“If he had addressed us politely, we would have retained respect for him forever. And so – we just fell silent. ‘What the f—k?! Do you think you can fall asleep with such noise?’ Bro, we were just drinking … You have to be polite to people. I could have answered him too, ‘Bro, go f—k. Who are you anyway?’”

Ngannou isn’t the only UFC fighter who Pereira has had quarrels with in recent days. He was in the middle of a controversy with welterweight Jorge Masvidal regarding a message that Masvidal sent to his wife on Instagram.

Ngannou is recovering from leg surgery but still remains arguably one of the most intimidating athletes on the planet. Pereira nearly found himself in a predicament, but it sounds like cooler heads prevailed.

UFC welterweight Michel Pereira has fired shots at Francis Ngannou after their recent altercation at a hotel.

Pereira took on Santiago Ponzinibbio this past weekend at UFC Vegas 55. Serving as the co-main event on the night, their three-round bout was a close-fought affair that ultimately saw Pereira come out on top by a split decision.

Following his win over Ponzinibbio, the 28-year-old was in high spirits and wanted to celebrate after extending his win streak to five. He took to the fighter hotel to drink and cheer up with his mates post-fight but found himself in trouble with the reigning UFC heavyweight champion.

Michel Pereira talks run-in with Francis Ngannou

In an interview with Canal Encarada (via Ngannou_MMA), Michel Pereira talked about how he and his mates were in a cheerful mood. The group took to the hotel corridor to continue their celebrations but were inadvertently affecting their fellow behemoth.

“We celebrated my victory at the hotel, had fun,” Pereira said. “And we are such guys – we move only with music, we constantly light up, even when we cut weight. I always rock, and my guys are the same. Constantly moving noisily, having parties. Guerra was drinking there non-stop, everyone was joking, bantering. And our room was next door to Ngannou.

I was after a hard fight, my nose was broken, my legs were beaten off. If Ngannou started a fight, what would I do to him? The team is already all drunk, they wouldn’t have helped me in any way.”

‘Demolidor’ confessed to his lack of desire for picking a fight with the man who has been recorded to have the strongest punch. Getting hit by Ngannou is equivalent to being struck by a Ford Escort at full speed. Although Michel Pereira obliged to his requests, he was not happy with how ‘The Predator’ conducted his behavior.

“Honestly, Ngannou made me angry,” Pereira added. The wife of UFC welterweight Michel Pereira has spoken out following the controversy surrounding a recent Instagram message to Jorge Masvidal.

Pereira defeated Santiago Ponzinibbio this past weekend at UFC Vegas 55, earning a split-decision victory. The fight also earned ‘Fight of the Night’ honors with both fighters taking home an extra $50k each.

But Pereira’s post-fight presser quickly took the attention away from the performance itself, as he called out Masvidal for a fight after “Gamebred” allegedly DMed his wife.

Pereira’s wife, Gina Amir Atelier, responded to a post on Masvidal’s story with a message of support. Masvidal responded with a prayer emoji, which appeared to draw the attention of Pereira.

Masvidal has since denied any malicious intent during the brief back-and-forth with Atelier and shared a screenshot of the DM exchange.

In a recent Instagram post, Pereira’s wife downplayed that she meant anything unusual with her publicized direct message to Masvidal.

“Society is always looking for excitement and unfortunately drama sells,” Atelier posted regarding the Pereira/Masvidal controversy. “Twisting the narrative to create a story that is false. I have never, and would never do anything to disrespect my marriage or my husband. This account as you can see, is a business account and way more than 1 person has access to it. This is not even the way I would speak. Not to mention it is from years ago and before I even knew Michel. Michel and I would appreciate respect as we are starting a family together. There is lots of hatred in this world we do not need to add to it. Peace and love to all of you.”

Pereira and Masvidal could potentially be on a collision course following their recent performances in the Octagon. Masvidal is on a three-fight losing skid, including most recently falling short against Colby Covington at UFC 272. Meanwhile, Pereira is expected to enter the rankings this week after his fifth straight victory.

If Pereira and Masvidal end up squaring off in the Octagon, the controversy surrounding Pereira’s wife could potentially come back into the conversation once again.
