Mickey Gall continues to talk trash towards his second UFC opponent, CM Punk. Gall beat Mike Jackson in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 82 and earned his shot against Punk. Gall, who is now 2-0 in his MMA career, will fight Punk in either June or July.

Gall recently spoke with FOX Sports.com about the upcoming fight and said that he plans on beating CM Punk so that he might be done with MMA and go back into pro wrestling.

“I remember hearing it was like an eight-fight deal or something,” Gall said about Punk’s UFC contract. “I definitely think after he fights me, it’s going to sour him to the experience. I definitely think he’ll probably take more appreciation of (professional) wrestling. Honestly, the truth is I really respect him for coming in there and accepting this against me. I think it’s not going to fare very well for him. He might be done. I’m sure there’s more money to be made off him so I wouldn’t be surprised. It would be his call, and that could be caused by what I’m going to do to him.

Gall expects to ruin the MMA experience for the MMA rookie.

“I have respect for him, but I might ruin MMA for him. I’m going to be violent and do something devastating to him.”

“No matter what he does between now and then, it’s not going to make a difference,” Gall said. “What I’m doing, it’s hard-wired in me. I’ve been doing it since I was 16, that’s how I grew up. There’s nothing he could do between now and then that’s going to change what’s going to happen.”

Punk did an interview at UFC Fight Night 83 and said that he would like to fight at UFC 200 in July. However, CM Punk just underwent surgery, and he’s expected to be out for a few week’s. At this time, there is no date set for the fight.

Since the very day that former WWE champion Phil “CM Punk” Brooks announced that he would be coming to the Octagon in late 2014, MMA fans everywhere have been questioning his actual ability to win a real fight, and if he ever actually would indeed step into the cage and fight.

That feeling was only amplified by the fact that his debut was delayed by a shoulder injury, but Punk apparently recovered well enough to find out that he would be facing 2-0 fighter Mickey Gall, a 23-year-old grappling champion who had just picked up only his second MMA win with a first round submission of 0-0 fighter Mike Jackson at February 6’s UFC Fight Night 82 from Las Vegas.

Many felt that Punk didn’t look all that enthused or intimidating when ‘facing off’ with Gall inside the Octagon, and again that feeling was heightened by Brooks’ revelation that he would undergo minor surgery on an ailing back from his pro-wrestling days a short time after his fight with Gall was made official. It was curious timing to put it nicely, and all of these developments have many fans rightfully wondering if the 37-year-old Punk will fight for the UFC.

They probably should be, but there’s a much bigger situation at work here. That’s the view that the UFC should end fans’ speculation for them and simply call an end to this absolute farce that has become nothing more than a circus for the UFC. Let’s examine just why it’s time for the UFC to end the CM Punk experiment now.

Perhaps after the news of CM Punk’s surgery, his debut opponent Mickey Gall is getting a little impatient. Dude ends up snoring like a pig…

Mickey Gall recently punched his ticket to  big money fight this year, defeating Mike Jackson for the chance to fight pro wrestling crossover CM Punk. Real name Phillip Brooks, Punk will be debuting in the welterweight division, and Gall was excited to say the least after stopping Jackson by submission at UFC Fight Night 82 in just 45 seconds.

Referee Yves Lavigne called the fight off after Jackson tapped due to a rear naked choke, and the sweepstakes for CM Punk’s first opponent were over. Then came the news of Punk going for surgery on his back, meaning his long awaited (?) debut was once again delayed.

Suck to be Mickey, but the opportunity does not escape him, it will simply take a little longer to transpire. So what’s Gall doing to keep himself active in the meantime? Well, he’s been putting radio show hosts to sleep. Check out the video of Mickey Gall making this radio personality snore like a walrus on camera:

Talk about brutal, that guy was lucky he didn’t snap his neck! Of course reporters and fans alike have always been obsessed with getting beat up by their favorite fighters, as displayed by this dude that begs Nick Diaz to blast him with one of his punches:

It’s certainly a growing fascination, getting beat up by your favorite fighters, and it’s not limited to the two videos you’ve just seen. Remember when a group of boy band-esque yuppies showed up at Miesha Tate’s gym to throw down with her?

This is perhaps the most satisfying example of fans vs. a fighter you’ll ever see. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to stay tuned to LowKick for more MMA and UFC news and coverage.

CM Punk, who was set to make his UFC debut against Mickey Gall in either June or July, revealed on Wednesday that he will have to undergo back surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck.

According to Punk, he has had a bad back for sometime, but figured it was due to his wrestling career. However, it got worse and worse as he trained.

“My back has always bugged me,” Punk said to MMA Fighting.com. “Figured it was just wrestling s***. Turns out it was. It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.

According to Punk, his doctors told him before last Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 82 event that he would have to undergo surgery. Which is weird for him not to tell UFC officials about it right then and there. Punk would go onto say after the event in an interview he would be ready to go by June or July. UFC President Dana White even did an interview at the event saying that he would talk with Punk in which event he would like to fight at. Punk said to MMA Fighting that he wanted to keep the news quiet.

Punk believes that this is just a bump in the road for him.

“This is just a bump in the road. I’m positive about this.”

Punk said in the interview that his post-surgery recovery is expected to be four-to-six weeks and plans to fight in 2016.

We finally know who CM Punk will fight in his UFC debut. Now, that question won’t be asked again, but now fans can speculate on how Punk will do in his UFC debut when he fights the impressive Mickey Gall.

Gall beat Mike Jackson in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 82 and earned his shot against Punk. Gall, who is now 2-0 in his MMA career, will fight Punk in either June or July.

Gall spoke with reporters following his fight and explained that his short chat inside the octagon with Punk was like a soccer-mom small talk.

“It was like small talk – soccer-mom small talk,” Gall said. “It was nothing.”

Gall believes that he’ll beat up a superstar, and he’ll finish Punk in the first round.

“I respect that dude,” Gall said. “He made himself a superstar. But it’s a big fight for me. I get to beat up a superstar. That’s what I’m going to do.

” … I’m going to beat up CM Punk in the first round. It’s the same original prediction. I don’t think I’ll beat him quicker than this one (against Jackson), but it’ll be in the first round.”

Punk did an interview at the event and said that he would like to fight at UFC 200 in July. UFC President Dana White said after the fight that the promotion would announce a date for the fight soon. Either way, the fight will be happening in the new few months.

Takeaways From The Debut Of Future CM Punk Opponent Mickey Gall

While the whole thing felt a bit very set up (though obviously not to the point of being a work), CM Punk’s first UFC fight has finally been announced. Mickey Gall, who was a 1-0 rookie hired by the UFC off calling out Punk on the promotion’s “Dana White: Looking For a Fight” YouTube reality show, quickly won his debut over 0-0 Mike Jackson in 45 seconds. Gall was a heavy favorite.

The fight itself was very simple: Gall knocked Jackson (a former pro boxer who also works as a MMA writer and photographer) with his first combination, a 1-2, and followed up with a rear naked choke to get the submission. UFC matchmaker Joe Silva introduced Gall to Punk in the cage after the match and posed them for photos In a post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani, Punk said he doesn’t know when the fight will be, but he wants it to be at UFC 200 in June, which is slated to be the biggest card in UFC history. UFC President Dana White has stated in the past that he sees Punk’s debut as likely for the previous month’s UFC 199 card.

With the fight going 45 seconds, there’s not much more to learn about Gall. He looks like he has some pop in his hands which was somewhat surprising given that he’s a grappler first and foremost. His finishing instincts were excellent, realizing that it made more sense to go for the choke instead of throwing more punches on the ground. A lot of more experienced fighters don’t even do that, so that’s a plus in his favor. He looked about as good as could b expected and it sets him up well as a threat against Punk. As for Jackson, there’s not really anything else for him in the UFC unless Punk loses to Gall, wants to keep fighting, and needs an opponent.

Punk sounded much more nervous than usual when he was interviewed after the fight, but not necessarily in a bad way. He freely admitted that he was excited, as his long-awaited fight is finally a reality, though it’s still not slated for a specific card. It’s not a secret that a the MMA world is skeptical of how good he can get at his age without a combat or even high level athletic background, but he’s been training full time. That’s his big advantage, his financial security allowing him to not have to hold down a full time job between training sessions like a fellow greenhorn would have to.

Will it be enough? We’ll know this Summer.
