The UFC 235 prelims last weekend (Sat. March 2, 2019) did very well ratings-wise.

According to MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer, the prelims averaged a 1.0 rating based on overnight ratings in the metered market. That’s the same number as the UFC 234 prelims last month, which resulted in a 1,339,000 viewership number. With that, the UFC 235 prelims have tied several other shows for the second-best pay-per-view (PPV) overnight prelim ratings since 2013.

They only trail the UFC 205 prelims, which was the UFC’s first show from Madison Square Garden, and was headlined by Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez. The UFC 235 prelims were headlined by Jeremy Stephens vs. Zabit Magomedsharipov. Johnny Walker also had a 36-second knockout win over Misha Cirkunov. Not to mention Diego Sanchez opening the prelims with a second-round thrashing of Mickey Gall.

Audience numbers will be available on Tuesday. The report also suggests that UFC 235 did relatively normal as opposed to big PPV numbers based on Google searches for the event. The PPV was the number one searched item in the country Saturday with more than a million searches. Usually, shows like that will do between 250,000 to 400,000 buys.

Diego Sanchez claims that Mickey Gall bit him during their UFC 235 bout and he has the proof to back it up.

Sanchez is something of an ageless wonder in the UFC. He was the original The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner and has the fifth-most Octagon time in company history. The “Nightmare” was exactly that for Gall, who was thoroughly outclassed in every facet during their fight. So much so, in fact, that Sanchez now claims that Gall resorted to some dastardly tactics. (courtesy of Instagram):

”Mickey Gall is still a little bitch he bit me and eye gouged me!” Sanchez wrote. “I’m from the streets of ‘burque your lucky that ref pulled me off! OG’s don’t tell the ref they suck it up and street fight! But I had to let Instagram know.”

Sanchez wasn’t done just yet as he also shared a video showing off the alleged bite mark. (via Twitter)

While Gall hasn’t responded to Sanchez’ allegations, he did issue a post-fight statement just one hour prior to Sanchez’ initial post.

”I gassed hard in there,” Gall wrote. “Had an adrenaline dump. I passed out during the weight cut and my body shut down in the first round. I’m sorry to my friends family and fans. Send love to Diego Sanchez, he’s a true legend. This was a nightmare come true for me. I promise I’ll be back soon and better.”

For his incredible performance, Sanchez took home an extra $50,000 while Gall has now lost two of his last three fights.

Check out the “Nightmare” talking to ESPN post-fight. It’s nice to have the good old Diego Sanchez back. Yes!

The UFC has announced that Sanchez will be taking on young contender Gall at the March PPV.

Sanchez, 36, has lost two of his last three fights inside the Octagon. He most recently took a unanimous decision win home over promotional newcomer Craig White at UFC 228.

Gall is a decade younger than Sanchez and hopes his youth will give him an advantage heading into this fight. Since entering the UFC, Gall has gone an impressive 4-1. He only has one professional fight outside of the Octagon.

Well, Gall has finally responded Perry through a recent rant on Instagram where he laid down the challenge. The prospect even has a potential event in mind for this fight.

”F**k Mike Perry,” Gall said (H/T to MMaMania). “I heard him call me out on Ariel [Helwani]’s show. Says he wants to fight. Aight, motherf**ker, careful what you wish for. Let’s fight. Let’s fight January 19th in Brooklyn on that first ESPN UFC card.”

The Date

”They actually offered that fight to your boy Diego,” Gall continued. “He said no because he doesn’t want to fight until March. Well, in the spirit of Thanksgiving I’m going to smoke two turkeys. I’ll beat up Mike Perry on January 19th in Brooklyn on ESPN and then I’ll go and beat up Diego in March. Gobble gobble, bitches.”

Perry then responded by stating on Twitter that he’s already planning to return to grappling which is when he will know how his arm has recovered since losing to Donald Cerrone.
