Mickey Gall Calls Out Diego Sanchez For December Bout

Mickey Gall continues to call out well-known mixed martial arts (MMA) figureheads.

Mickey Gall doesn’t plan on stopping his callout habit anytime soon.

Gall recently took to Instagram to callout longtime UFC veteran, and The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 (TUF 1) winner, Diego Sanchez. The jiu-jitsu specialist wants to fight Sanchez at UFC 231 on pay-per-view (PPV) on December 8th from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In the callout, Gall labelled himself “The Nightmare’s Nightmare”:

Gall comes off a bounce-back win following the first defeat of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. He defeated George Sullivan last month in Nebraska via first-round submission. Gall now holds a 5-1 record in his career. He’s eying a man who has 33 more career fights than him.

Sanchez has been competing in MMA since 2002. Although his record in the promotion has been a spotty one, Sanchez never fails to put on an entertaining fight. In his last outing, Sanchez emerged victorious over Craig White at UFC 228 via unanimous decision.

He has yet to respond to Gall’s callout for December, but if he does accept the 26-year-old’s challenge, it will certainly be an interesting match-up.

Mickey Gall loves his call outs.

Mickey Gall got the job done this past weekend (Sat. August 25, 2018).

The jiu-jitsu specialist submitted George Sullivan in just 69 seconds. Gall walked to the Octagon expecting a war. He really wanted to show off his striking abilities in the bout. Instead, he took what was given to him (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I’m happy with it,” Gall said. “That’s in my blood. That Gracie jiu-jitsu, that’s second nature. I wanted to do some more, I came in to “Hey Mickey” and then “War.”

“I wanted to go to war, I wanted to bash it, I didn’t really get to throw a punch on the feet. It just came to me. I was looking for it, but I just took what I got, and that’s what came to me.”

After his victory, Gall issued out another one of his famous call outs. This time, however, he named three men. Randy Brown, Sage Northcutt and Diego Sanchez.

Brown was the first fighter to defeat Gall in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Because he’s asking to avenge a loss, he wants to give a fighter he beat the same opportunity. Hence the call out of Sage Northcutt.

And finally, if neither of those options are available, Gall would like to fight a legend. Diego Sanchez was the name that came to mind:

“I give some options,” Gall said. “I want to fight before Christmas, I said Dan Hardy one time, and Dan Hardy apparently doesn’t fight (anymore), so I’m not pinholing myself.

“I’m going to give you guys some names. I give you three options. I either want to run it back with the guy I fought in the Garden last time.

“In the honor of that I’ll offer to run it back with – this is for the Cornhusk(er) State – Sage Corncutt. Or I want a legend, I want Diego Sanchez.”

Ultimately, Gall wants to be more active. He hasn’t fought as often as he’d like to lately, and wants that to change:

“In the past, I haven’t been as active as I’d like to be,” Gall said. “But I’ve been gearing up for now, and I’m going to be a hell of activity.”

Mickey Gall taps out his most recent opponent while competing at the UFC Lincoln event inside of the Octagon where he showed off an impressive win.

Rebound

Gall made his name known once he beat former WWE Champion CM Punk at UFC 203 by first-round submission. He continued to shine following up with a win over Sage Northcutt by rear-naked choke in December of 2016.

However, all that momentum came to a halt once he suffered a decision loss to Randy Brown at UFC 217. Since then, he took time off to build his skills as a well-rounded fighter.

Mickey Gall Taps

As seen in the opening bout on the preliminary card of this event on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska on FOX Sports 2, Gall was able to score an early takedown in seconds.

He would set up the finish by using a slick transition to take Sullivan’s back. This would lead to the 26-year-old to lock in a rear-naked choke which forced his opponent to tap out.

After the fight, he made it clear who he wants to fight next. He called out Sage Northcutt and Diego Sanchez for a welterweight bout at the upcoming UFC 230 pay-per-view event.

The UFC 230 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York City. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

Mickey Gall Reacts To UFC Lincoln Main Card Snub

Mickey Gall didn’t make the cut for the main card at UFC Lincoln.

Mickey Gall is a little irked about being left out of the main card of this weekend’s (Sat. August 25, 2018) UFC Lincoln event.

Gall earned his claim to fame in September of 2016. He welcomed former WWE star CM Punk into the UFC with a first-round submission victory. Gall went on to defeat the likes of fellow UFC President ‘Dana White’s Looking For A Fight’ alumni Sage Northcutt.

He now comes off the first defeat of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Gall was defeated by another ‘Looking For A Fight’ alumni, Randy Brown, via unanimous decision in November. Now he hopes to bounce back with a victory over longtime MMA veteran George Sullivan.

Despite Gall being one of the more recognized names on UFC Lincoln, he was placed as the opening fight on the FOX Sports 2 prelims.

Gall spoke to MMA Junkie on the matter and admitted that UFC Lincoln is a pretty stacked card. He suggested his experience level could be the reasoning behind his placement:

“I’ve been asked that question a lot,” Gall said. “It is a pretty stacked main card. Maybe my experience (is why)? Let’s attribute it to that. I know I’m one of the bigger names, but it’s all good.”

Gall admitted that being snubbed from the main card bothers him a bit, but the plan remains the same – go in and beat up George Sullivan:

“It does (bother me),” Gall said. “I want people to see all the work I’ve put in, I want to be on TV. I want to be seen as much as possible.

“It does matter. But what am I going to do? I’m going to go in there and beat this dude up anyway.”

In order to gain the attention of UFC officials, Gall knows he needs to make a statement in Nebraska. He plans on doing exactly that against Sullivan. Gall described his intentions of painting “beautiful, violent art” inside the Octagon this weekend:

“I want to put a highlight on him,” Gall said. “I want to do something. This is my art. I want to paint something beautiful, I want to paint some beautiful, violent art. Something that will last. I want to crush him. I want to put a violent masterpiece on.”
