Popular welterweight Mike Perry has revealed UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones introduced him to his current girlfriend Latory Gonzalez who will be the only person in his corner when he fights Mickey Gall on Saturday night (27 June).

Speaking to CBS Sports Perry reminisced about the night he met his current girlfriend, explaining how Jones was integral to the two getting together, he said.

“So I walked in and Jon Jones saw me and he smiled. He looked to his right and he saw Latory and he grabbed her hand and he grabbed my hand,” Perry said. “He might have grabbed mine first; it makes me feel better [if I say] he grabbed mine first. He grabbed my hand and brought our hands together and I picked her up and gave her a hug and said, ‘Let’s get out of here.’”

Many fans and pundits are worried by Perry’s plan to operate with no corner at UFC on ESPN 12 but the man himself is confident.

“Peace and quiet to hear [Gall’s] corner. I don’t ever hear nothing of value, bro,” Perry said. “I have been in positions in fights. When ‘Cowboy’ [Donald Cerrone] was going for the armbar, I didn’t hear anyone yelling for me to watch for that armbar. Maybe I’m not listening or something but I just feel like, ‘OK, if I ain’t going to listen anyways, why the f— should they be here and get any of the credit? What the f— did they do for me to get a front row seat to one of the best f—ing shows on planet Earth?’

“This is a ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry fight, bro, and there’s one person in this world who deserves the opportunity for that front row seat and that’s the most beautiful thing that I ever saw,” Perry added. “It’s my girl, Latory Gonzalez.

“[Gonzalez] is new motivation, the best motivation and the motivation I’ve been looking for my whole life,” Perry concluded. “What does a guy fight for? Deep down, the animalistic features we have say that ‘if I could beat that guy and bite his neck before he bites mine, I get to take the pretty girl home.’

As Mike Perry’s next fight approaches, it appears he remains serious about having his girlfriend as his sole corner.

Perry meets Mickey Gall in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 4 taking place this Saturday at the Apex facility. “Platinum” made headlines when he revealed last month that he was ditching his coaches and would solely have his girlfriend in his corner.

At the time, he stated how he felt he never really got advice from them. And with just days to go for his fight with Gall, Perry still plans on going ahead with no qualified coaches.

“Yes sir, just one,” Perry said to Ariel Helwani when asked if he was just going to have his girlfriend has his corner before answering why. “‘Cause she’s perfect.”

Perry: Girlfriend Will Have Best Seat In The House

Unsurprisingly, Perry’s girlfriend has no real mixed martial arts experience.

But that doesn’t matter for Perry who feels he doesn’t need advice — especially as he has already mapped out how his fight with Gall would go.

“No,” Perry added when asked if she had combat experience. “She’s just a tough peanut butter cup chocolate chip cookie and she has experience in boxing and wrestling. Believe it or not, she wrestled in high school.”

“She’s gonna do the number one thing that I could ask of a coach — just sit there and enjoy the show because you’ve got the best seat in the house. I don’t need your advice anyways. I’ve done the work. It’s done. I’ve seen the fight in my head a thousand times. I’m gonna bust this dude in the face and I’m gonna bust his chops, bro. That’s it.”

Hopefully, Perry ends up winning what he sees as an easy matchup, otherwise he will just end up looking silly.

Mike Perry Willing To Go To Jail If He Could Beat Brakes Off Darren Till

Perry Till

Mike Perry and Darren Till’s beef is only intensifying.

The pair have been going back-and-forth in recent weeks with Till even going as far as making a MikePerryIsABum.com website.

That didn’t go down well with “Platinum” who predicts he would beat Till even with a size disadvantage if he moved up to middleweight to face the Liverpool native.

“He wants me to go up. He thinks if I go up to 185, he’ll have an easy day, but I’ll be too fast for his fat ass,” Perry told UFC veteran Mike Swick in a recent interview (via Bloody Elbow). “I’ll piece his ass up just like I did when we sparred. I hit him with six, seven, eight, punch combinations once I got inside of that reach.”

Perry: Till Wouldn’t Say Things To My Face

Perry, meanwhile, has blocked Till on social media and doesn’t care to give him too much attention until they can actually fight.

In fact, the reason he did it was in Till’s best interests as he started to raise his voice more and deliver a classic rant.

“I don’t even want to give that dude the time of day until we can make it happen. Everybody is like ‘oh why did you block him?’ or I’m ‘scared’ of him. No, the thing is, I’m scared of myself!” Perry said. “You want to play with me over the internet because you would never say these things to my face! Nobody would! Nobody could! Because I would f—king do something about it. I don’t care who you are! I don’t give a f—k! Nobody gonna play with me in my life like that.

“Social media is not real time! You want to f—king play, and I’m not going to forget about it. If I could see this motherf—ker in the street, I would do it for free! If we are ever in the same place, at the same time, I will go to f—king jail for beating the brakes off of him, if he wants to be a little p-ssy boy and press charges on me.”

Hopefully, we do get to see a Till vs. Perry fight inside the Octagon at some point in the future.

Darren Till

Top Middleweight contender and Liverpool native Darren Till has been having lots of fun with welterweight Mike Perry, recently elaborating on his Mike Perry website that Till created.

Till spoke with Michael Bisping on his “Believe You Me” podcast saying, “This is fighting mate, and I don’t think there is a line,” Till explained “I think kids, yeah, that’s a line you don’t cross. OK. I think I’ve seen one fighter cross that line – I think it was Colby [Covington], I think he crossed the line – but same again, for me, it doesn’t cross the line for me.”

Its not the first time a fighter has said Covington has crossed trash talk line in the past. Till continued to poke fun at Perry, creating a website making fun of the welterweight. He recently had trashed Perry and his Girlfriend a few weeks ago. He went on to explain the idea of the website was to create a little beef to keep fans interested during the lockdowns for the Pandemic.

“We were chatting, me and Mike, and I don’t know if he’s being serious,” Till said. “We were chatting in the DMs and it was good fun, let’s have a bit of beef. I don’t if I took it too far, because I said I was going to ‘raw dog’ his girl, but he took it serious, and he blocked me. I was like, ‘What the f*ck?’ He blocked me on Facebook. Mike really blocked me. So I made another account.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Since this, many close to Till have told him to stop slandering Perry due to the risk of a fight breaking out next time they cross paths. “A lot of people said, ‘Knock it in the head, Darren. He’s unstable.’ So I did, but then I created this website, and it’s f*cking hilarious. … If he sees me, he might want to have a fight. You know where I come from. You know I’m about that life.”

Is Darren Till crossing the line with Mike Perry? Will these two ever square off in the Octagon?
