Tyson, a native of Brooklyn, New York, is recognised as one of the most formidable strikes in professional boxing history, as well as one of the most feared heavyweight champions in the sport’s history.

Last competing professionally back in June 2005, Tyson, who has since turned his hand to a successful podcast, sent fans of him into worry last month after pictures emerged showing the New Yorker wheelchair-bound at a Florida airport.

Detailing the reasoning for his health issues, Tyson cited his issues with the nerve condition, sciatica, revealing that when the condition flairs up, he can be left unable to verbally communicate.

“When it flairs up, I can’t talk,” Mike Tyson told of his issues with sciatica during an interview with Newsmax. “Thank God it’s the only health problem I have.”

“I’m splendid now,” Mike Tyson explained., “Everybody in my house is truly blessed and we’re all very grateful for what we have.” (Transcribed by BloodyElbow)

Making a return to the squared circle back in 2020, Tyson featured in an exhibition matchup against former cruiserweight champion, Roy Jones Jr. – with the duo battling over the distance in a bout which was not scored as part of a Triller Fight Club card.

Tyson has been linked with subsequent fights against both former champion, Evander Holyfield, as well as a bout against the controversial undefeated puncher, Jake Paul – who himself is expected to fight former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva in October.

Former boxing champion Tyson is widely regarded as one of the best athletes of all time. During his prime, Tyson had an intimidating aura about him and went on a dominant run, finishing numerous of his opponents within the first two rounds.

The Hall of Famer recently took issue with the release of Mike, a Hulu documentary on Tyson, for not giving him his piece. While support for Tyson poured in from the MMA community, “The Bad Guy” had a different take on the matter.

Chael Sonnen dismisses Mike Tyson’s claims on Hulu documentary

In a Sep. 2 video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen argued against Tyson’s claims that he should be receiving money from the earnings of the documentary.

“‘Iron’ Mike is very upset that it’s his life’s story and that he was not paid for that,” Sonnen said (ht Middle Easy). He’s very upset. He went on Greta Van Susteran yesterday. I’m a fan of Greta. I’ve been watching her for years. But Greta has Mike on and Mike tells this story and Greta says ‘What are you going to do?’ And Mike says, ‘There’s nothing that I can do.’

“And Greta says, ‘Well, I have a real problem with that Mike.’ I can see it would be frustrating that someone would use your likeness and tell your story and not pay you. She agreed with him and then they went off air.

“Now, if somebody feels that they were slighted or shafted, I think we should include the part of the story that Mike has left out. He sold his rights years ago. I would not have an opportunity to go and negotiate this with Mike because he doesn’t own them. I would be in legal breach. I would have to deal with the person who owns it, just so you understand. These aren’t Chael’s rules. That’s the law.”

“We’re all gonna die one day, of course,” Tyson said. “When I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say, ‘Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.’”

Concerns were heightened when the pictures of the former world champion in a wheelchair started making the rounds on social media. Recently, Mike Tyson appeared on NewsMax TV to explain the images and the health issues he has been fighting with.

“I have sciatica every now and then, it flares up. When it flares up, I can’t even talk!

“Thank God it’s the only health problem I have. I’m splendid now. Everybody in my life is truly blessed and we’re all very grateful for whatever we have.”

According to MayoClinic.org, “Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg.”

Mike Tyson, still known by many as the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet,’ officially retired from the world of professional boxing in 2005. He holds a record of 50-6-2 and was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles. Bill Caplan of The Ring magazine listed Mike Tyson as one of the 20 greatest heavyweights of all time.

In 2020, ‘Iron’ Mike returned to the squared circle for an exhibition bout with fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. Following the event’s success, offers began rolling in for Tyson who received multi-million dollar proposals to step back into the ring for exhibition bouts, including a potential meeting with YouTuber turned professional boxer, Jake Paul. However, it sounds as though Tyson is no longer interested in competing and no amount of money will change that.

“Guys want to fight me for 100 million bucks,” Mike Tyson said. “I don’t think I’ll ever do stuff like that anymore. I wanted to do it the first time, just for fun to have fun. Then some people took it to another level and made it financial, and then the fun went out of it.”

The former World Heavyweight Champion of boxing was amongst one of the scariest men to ever grace the combat sports world. In Tyson’s prime, most of his matches ended with his opponent knocked unconscious on the ground. The boxing icon is only 56 years old, but he even recently had said that his “expiration date” may be not he horizon. Tyson has been recently walking around with a walking stick, as he needs assistance from it to walk properly.

Mike Tyson was on an episode of “Hotboxin”, when he had talked about the possibility of him passing away.

“We’re all gonna die one day of course,” Tyson said “Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say, ‘Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.’?”

Tyson most recently had a run in on a plane with a heckler, who was annoying Tyson on the flight. Tyson responded to the annoyance by turning around and hitting the guy a few times in the face. The heckler had a couple battle scars, as ‘Iron’ Mike made him bleed with the few punches that he had landed. Why anyone would poke at Tyson like that, in punching range, is ludicrous.

Tyson’s most recent match was an exhibition match between Roy jones Jr, where he looked like the better fighter, at an older age. ‘Iron’ Mike was one of the most dominant heavyweight boxers of all time, as he finished his career with a record of 50-6. He won is first 37 fights, before losing to Buster Douglas in 1990. That fight went down as one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
