Former top lightweight contender Kenny Florian will make his featherweight debut at UFC 131.

Florian said earlier this month he would be dropping down to featherweight, and his first test will come against Diego Nunes. Florian made the announcement on ESPN’s “MMA Live” late Friday night. As he did Friday, Florian often serves as co-host of the show.

“It’s a new challenge,” Florian said of the drop in divisions. “I’ve never been afraid of a new challenge. I see it as an exciting opportunity to possibly face what in my opinion is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, which is Jose Aldo. He’s a tremendous fighter and I have a lot of respect for that guy. (But) I still have an opponent before I get there.”

The event is being attended exclusively by enlisted military personnel and also serves as a fund raiser by the UFC and Spike for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

For the first time, four of the six preliminary card fights will be streamed live on the promotion’s Facebook page for fans who “like” the UFC. Yves Edwards-Cody McKenzie, Mike Guymon-DaMarques Johnson, Mike Brown vs. Rani Yahya and Willamy Freire vs. Waylon Lowe will be available online.

FORT HOOD, Texas – Earlier this week, the UFC announced a pair of preliminary card fights at tonight’s Fight for the Troops show will stream live on Facebook.

On Saturday, the UFC upped the ante by announcing via Twitter that four of the six prelims will now air on the social networking website instead of the previously announced two.

To gain access to the live stream, which will start at 7 p.m. Eastern, fans must “like” the UFC’s fan page at the site. As a fan, an embedded media player under the “Free Prelims” tab will be accessible.
