Michael Chandler has added Nate Diaz to the list of people he would like to fight sometime in the future in the UFC.

Chandler has been very outspoken about who he wants for his next battle inside the octagon. He has been lobbying to fight Conor McGregor in his first fight back from injury. He claims he is not looking for a “red panty night”, but just respects McGregor for what he has done inside the octagon. It looks like Chandler is looking for a well deserved “money fight” though, by calling out two of the bigger names inside the promotion.

Michael Chandler was on ‘The MMA Hour‘ talking about the possibility of moving to welterweight to take on Diaz.

“Nobody has ever talked about me and Nate Diaz fighting. But for some reason, I’m like, ‘Me and Nate Diaz should probably share the octagon at some point.’ And obviously he’s got his contract coming to a close. He’s looking at fighting Poirier, that’s the fight that he said he wants. But then he called the UFC and the UFC said Poirier sucks. But yeah, I’d throw Nate Diaz’s name in the hat. And I’d love to fight him at 170 [pounds] instead of 155, I’ll tell you that much.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

Diaz has recently been in talks with Dustin Poirier for an upcoming fight, but both parties have been accusing the other of not accepting the fight. Diaz has been talking about fighting multiple people as well, including McGregor and Tony Ferguson, but nothing has come to fruition.

Chandler is coming off a fantastic fight and one of the greatest battles in UFC history against Justin Gaethje. Although he lost that fight by unanimous decision, he won the night by putting on a show for the fans. The former lightweight title challenger is looking to get back on track with a win after dropping two in a row.

Aljamain Sterling Claims Title Rematch With Petr Yan Has Been Moved To UFC 273 In April

UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling has claimed his long-awaited title unification rematch with interim gold holder, Petr Yan is most likely to now take place in April at UFC 273, despite initial plans to pit the two together a month earlier at UFC 272 on March 5.

Sterling, who clinched the undisputed bantamweight championship back in March courtesy of a fourth round disqualification win over Yan, has been sidelined ever since as he failed to obtain medical clearance to return following invasive neck surgery to address a longstanding issue.

Aljamain Sterling is currently in the midst of a six-fight winning run, including his DQ win over Petr Yan

The Uniondale native was originally expected to co-headline UFC 267 back in October on ‘Fight Island’ in a rematch against Yan, however, his failure to obtain medical clearance resulted in the shelving of the bout, as well as the introduction of an interim title at bantamweight.

Remaining on the Abu Dhabi, UAE card – Dudinka native, Yan managed to scoop the interim crown with unanimous decision win over common-opponent, Cory Sandhagen, who replaced Sterling on short notice.

Last week, reports emerged detailing how the promotion was targeting the title rematch between Sterling and Yan for UFC 272 on March 5. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, however, contracts had yet to be signed for the bout.

Ultimately, a targeted main event between featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, and Max Holloway fell to the wayside as the latter aggravated a prior injury, resulting in the scuppering of that title fight as well.

With Volkanovski now expected to draw the #4 ranked contender, Chan Sung Jung in a reworked title fight at UFC 273, Sterling has suggested on his official Twitter that his re-run with Yan will follow suit and land at UFC 273 in April as well.

“Apparently it (the rematch) isn’t until April now (UFC 273),” Aljamain Sterling tweeted. “The potato (Petr Yan) can’t duck me forever!”

An April return for Aljamain Sterling would mark a year of inactivity following his much-debated disqualification win over Yan, with the New York native becoming the first champion in the promotion’s history to win a title via that method.
Sterling then accused Yan of withdrawing from their upcoming fight, calling them now level on fight withdrawals between them.

“I guess Cheotr (Petr Yan) and I, are even now in pulling out of fights for serious injuries,” Aljamain Sterling tweeted. “Oh wait… “personal reasons” isn’t an injury (laughing face emoji). I’m coming for your boy! Trust me!

Kevin Holland will be set to kick off his career as a welterweight at UFC 273.

Holland confirmed his scheduled matchup against Alex Oliveira through a video announcement on his OnlyFans page.

‘Trailblazer’ had an exhilarating 2020 earning himself the ‘Fighter of The Year’ award following on from his impressive 5-fight winning streak which saw four of those victories come inside the distance. 2021 didn’t provide Holland with the same good fortune, he was completely outwrestled by both Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori on his way to decision losses in both before finishing off the year with an unfortunate ‘No Contest’ against Kyle Daukaus.

Having taken some time away to improve areas of his game, Holland will return to take on the extremely experienced Alex Oliveira in his new weight division which he announced in a truly unique video on his OnlyFans, shared by Ariel Helwani.

Kevin Holland Looking to Return After Setbacks

During his time away Holland focused heavily on improving his grappling and overall ability to wrestle, even going onto compete in Fury Pro Grappling 3. Although he would fall short in this it shows the dedication, he has been putting in to improve prior to his return.

‘Big Mouth’ will also be looking forward to the potential height and reach advantages he has in his new division. In his fights against Brunson and Vettori, both middleweight title contenders used their size and similar gameplans to wear on Holland and keep it mainly on the mat which proved to effective and nullified Holland’s offense.

Time will tell on how much Holland has improved in his ability, but we know for sure, given his nature hell have a few words for his opponent no matter the outcome.

How do you think Kevin Holland will do at Welterweight?

Javier Mendez On Jake Paul Joining AKA: ‘He’s Never Asked’

AKA Coach Javier Mendez has squashed rumours that Jake Paul is or has been training at the American Kickboxing Academy, however, the experienced Mendez hasn’t closed the door on the idea of Paul potentially stepping inside the walls of AKA.

In a recent interview with TheSchmo Coach Mendez was asked about Jake Paul and whether the speculation was true. In the build-up to Jake Paul Vs. Tyron Woodley 2, Paul expressed his desire to switch over to MMA at some point stating that Coach Mendez and Khabib Nurmagomedov were both 100% willing to train him. Just recently Paul uploaded a video to social media of him practicing throwing leg kicks, leaving many followers speculating if we may see his MMA debut in 2022.

Fast forward to now, and this is what Mendez had to say about Jake Paul potentially making that switch one day.

“It could happen, but like anybody you know we have to go through all the coaches and all the fighters that are here, and anybody that’s a famous athlete like him they would go through the routine that anybody does so he would have to get voted by everybody, not everybody but if there’s one person, in particular, that doesn’t want him here for that particular reason he can’t be here so everyone would have to vote.”

Javier Mendez Open To Jake Paul Joining AKA

Although it appears Mendez is open to the idea of helping Paul and speaks very highly of the undefeated boxer, he knows nothing will come of these rumours just yet as Paul himself is still yet to ask to work together. It would also need the approval of everyone at AKA before Paul could join the ranks there.

“First of all, he’s never asked, what he’s done is he’s marketed himself out there beautifully, I love the plug he gave us, I think it’s a fantastic plug and I think he’s a fantastic person. And I think he markets himself fantastic, I love what he does. He creates interest, how can you not like a guy who creates interest. I sent him a text of encouragement and a heartfelt message.

“I felt like it was the right type of message to send because it was legit, and he gave me a great return in favour by talking about training with us, but the reality is no matter who you are, you could be the greatest fighter ever you still have to go through the team to get consent to train with us, so that’s what we’ve always done.

“He hasn’t been given consent because he hasn’t asked, it’s not that he won’t I don’t know, I just know he hasn’t asked and if he does get denied, he won’t know who denied him because we don’t say that we just say, you know it’s not meant for you at this time.”

Paul is yet to announce his next adventure in boxing with it seeming likely he will take some time off in 2022 given his hectic previous year. Is now the right time for him to try and make the switch?

How well do you think Jake Paul would in MMA?

EXCLUSIVE | Robert Whittaker Reflects On UFC 243 Loss To Israel Adesanya: ‘It Wasn’t Me Out There’

Robert Whittaker

Ahead of his UFC middleweight championship rematch with current kingpin, Israel Adesanya next month, former titleholder, Robert Whittaker has reflected deeply on his title unification loss to the City Kickboxing standout back in October 2019.

Headlining the Melbourne, Australia card on home soil, Whittaker dropped his first and only loss at middleweight since, succumbing to second round strikes against the then-interim middleweight champion at UFC 243. The loss snapped Whittaker’s lengthy 12-fight undefeated run at 185lbs.

Robert Whittaker rides a three-fight winning run into his UFC 271 rematch with Israel Adesanya

In the time since, however, Whittaker has successfully rebounded to title contention once again, and rides an impressive three-fight winning spree into his UFC 271 rematch on February 12.

However, questions have been constantly posed to the Melbourne-born technician ahead of his title re-run with Adesanya, particularly regarding a reckless approach to the 2019 title unification bout, that resulted in his championship loss.

Reflecting on the result and his performance during a recent interview with LowKick MMA reporter, Jordan Ellis, Whittaker admitted that he wasn’t satisfied with the display he turned in – regardless of result.

“That’s the over-arching feature: it’s the feeling I get moving into this next fight,” Robert Whittaker said. “It’s that, you know – I am confident, and I am satisfied with who I am, and why I do it, and what I’m doing to get to this fight (at UFC 271). That, when I get in there, I’m going to give it my absolute, 100 percent. And I will be satisfied with the result if I can do that.”

“Because I didn’t get that satisfaction after the first fight (against Israel Adesanya),” Robert Whittaker continued. “I lost, but I didn’t feel like I gave 100 percent, I didn’t feel like  – it wasn’t me out there. I felt like, in the lead-up, it wasn’t how I wanted to do things. So like I said, if I can do all that in this fight moving forward, I’ll be satisfied.”

Since his knockout loss to Adesanya, Whittaker has compiled a three-fight winning run, taking unanimous decision wins against the trio of Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, and in April, against common-foe, Kelvin Gastelum.

A welterweight showdown between division mover, Kevin Holland and veteran Brazil native, Alex Oliveira has been added to UFC 272 on March 5. – from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Most recently featuring at UFC Vegas 38 back in October, Holland fought to an eventual official ‘No Contest’ against Kyle Daukaus, after he suffered an accidental clash of heads in the center of the Octagon before Daukaus latched onto a standing rear-naked choke. The result left Holland without a win since December 2020.

Also featuring on the undercard of that October UFC Vegas 38 event, Oliveira suffered his third straight defeat – this time finding himself on the receiving end of a unanimous decision defeat against Niko Price. Kevin Holland announced his pairing against Oliveira and welterweight return on his official Only Fans page

Before his ‘No Contest’ against Daukaus, Holland had headlined for the first and then subsequently, second time in his UFC tenure. Seeing his five-fight winning run halted back in March, Holland dropped a unanimous decision defeat against division mainstay, Derek Brunson.

Replacing an injured, Darren Till in April at UFC on ABC 2, Holland suffered a unanimous decision loss against Marvin Vettori in a main event slot. Suffering numerous takedowns in both losses, Holland recently began training under the tutelage of renowned amateur wrestler and former welterweight champion, Johny Hendricks.

Turning in a record-setting 2020, Holland lodged five straight wins over Anthony Hernandez, Joaquin Buckley, Darren Stewart, Charlie Ontiveros, and then at UFC 256 – stopped Jacare Souza with a stunning first round knockout from his back during a grappling scramble.

Before judging loss to Price, Rio de Janeiro veteran, Oliveira dropped submission blemishes against both Randy Brown and Kazakh native, Shavkat Rakhmonov.

In his Octagon tenure, Oliveira has most notable dispatched the likes of former interim welterweight titleholder, Carlos Condit, Max Griffin, Tim Means, Will Brooks, and K.J. Noons.
