Urijah Faber

Urijah Faber responds to Cub Swanson’s callout he made after beating Darren Elkins in December.

After Swanson defeated Elkins via TKO in the first round, he proceeded to challenge Faber to see who the ‘King of Cali’ truly is. He also hinted at the fight happening in California to add to the stakes. Swanson would make the drop down to bantamweight to take on Faber in his “dream fight”.

Faber has finally responded to Swanson’s proposal in a video he put out today.

“Directly afterward in the press conference that his dream fight would be to fight in Palm Springs against yours truly, he wants to drop to 135,” Urijah Faber said about a fight with Cub Swanson.

“Honestly, I know he broke his hand, that might give me enough time to train, he’s going to drop down to ’35. We were supposed to fight back in 2004 in King of the Cage on short notice for 1000 bucks. I think they were going to pay him a couple hundred bucks and they were going to pay me like 1000 bucks. That never happened, so Cubbie, I’m honored that I’m your dream fight here in this scenario. So we might find out who the king of California is.” (Transcribed by BJPenn.com)

Urijah Faber last fought inside the UFC back in December of 2019 against Petr Yan

He was on the wrong side of a KO via a head kick. Faber has a career record of 35-11 and was the former WEC bantamweight champion. Both Faber and Swanson are WEC alums, but never met on their road to the UFC. While both may be on the tail end of their career, a fight between the two would be very fun. After losing four fights in a row, Swanson then proceeded to win three of his last four bouts. His most recent win being a dominant KO victory over Elkins.

All joking aside, Brown has some of the worst videos that could most definitely get people severely hurt. Tuivasa isn’t the only person that sees through what Brown is trying to sell. Everyone across social media makes fun of his techniques all the time. There are countless videos of people using his techniques while making a joke out of it. He is however, the first professional fighter to call him out.

Tuivasa took to The MMA Hour to call Brown out for his techniques that he is teaching people.

“He’s the guy that does all this bloody videos.” Tuivasa said on The MMA Hour. “I don’t even know his name. I just wanna fight the guy. He makes me angry. The guy that makes people go in circles when they’re attacking him. Yes, him. I wanna fight him. I don’t know. I just want to see if I can shoot him or if I can fight him properly. I don’t know if you can make me turn it circles. I don’t know. I just want to see real, let the people know the truth. I’ll take the cop all day.” (Transcribed by MiddleEasy)

Tai Tuivasa is coming off a huge win against Augusto Sakai at UFC 269

‘Bam Bam’ won that fight via a brutal KO. It was Tuivasa’s third fight that he has won in a row and bolstered his record to 13-3. Tuivasa has quickly become a problem in the heavyweight division and a true contender. Tuivasa is currently the 11th ranked fighter in the division. His next fight should come against a top 10 fighter inside the division. A title run could very well be in the cards for Tuivasa if he keeps improving.

Sean O'Malley

Surging UFC bantamweight challenger, Sean O’Malley has dismissed talk of a showdown with former division kingpin, Cody Garbrandt next, questioning if the Ohio native could possibly be suffering from CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy) after suffering a slew of knockout losses recently.

O’Malley, who eventually earned the #12 rank at bantamweight back in December, took out Brazilian striker, Raulian Paiva with a one-sided opening round knockout at UFC 269.

Sean O’Malley landed his third consecutive knockout victory with his December win over Raulian Paiva

On the same card, former bantamweight champion, Garbrandt made his flyweight divisional bow against City Kickboxing feature, Kai Kara-France, suffering his second consecutive defeat after succumbing to late first round strikes.

Following the loss, Ohio native Garbrandt claimed that he felt good at flyweight, and mentioned how easy his weight cut to the 125lbs limit was, however, failed to rule out a bantamweight return – explaining how he would like to fight O’Malley next following a press conference war of words between the two.

There’s a lot of good matchups –  Sean O’Malley, I really want to whoop his ass,” Cody Garbrandt said. “That’s a fight that’s looming. Hopefully, that could possibly be my next one. I want that fight so I’d like to stay 1t 35. He might fight me now because I’m not in the rankings at 35 and he’s ranked so that’ll be a good fight. You’ve got to respect his skills, he leveled up a little bit with the Raulian (Paiva) fight, caught him early on, but we know that. The only way he was gonna win was catching him early on and he did that. He did his job, hats off to him. He’s now in the rankings so I have to go back up to 25 and whoop his ass, but we’ll decide, we’ll figure it out.

Responding to Garbrandt’s call out, O’Malley distanced himself from a fight with the former champion next, at least, as well as questioning if Garbrandt was suffering from the progressive brain condition, CTE – after suffering knockout losses in four of his last five losses.

Dude, Cody (Garbrandt) wants – he’s not getting that fight (with me),” Sean O’Malley said on his podcast. “When he said it, you could see in his voice (sic), ‘Oh, I want, uh’ – but that fight’s not happening. It doesn’t make sense for him to say that, I wonder if that’s CTE, he’s been knocked out five (four) times in the last two years (five years). That fights not happening, at least, not next. He needs to – it just doesn’t make sense, dude. It just literally doesn’t make sense.

Before his win over Paiva last month, Montana striker, O’Malley had landed a July knockout win over Kris Moutinho in record-setting fashion – which followed a March stoppage victory over now-promotional alum, Thomas Almeida.

Tyson Fury

Reigning WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury has questioned his followers if they would be interested in seeing him clash with UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou in a professional boxing match – with the pair sporting mixed martial arts gloves.

Tyson Fury, who most recently scored his second career win over former champion, Deontay Wilder – stopped the Alabama native with an eleventh round knockout back in October.

Francis Ngannou is set to headline UFC 270 later this month against interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane

For Ngannou, the Cameroon native is slated to take main event status at UFC 270 on January 22. – clashing with former teammate, Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight title unification bout at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

However, Ngannou, who retains just one fight on his current UFC contract, has admitted that he would love to test his striking skills inside the boxing ring, but the Batie native would be subject to a ‘champion’s clause’ should he unify the titles against Gane later this month, tying him to the UFC for at least another fight.

Posting on his official Twitter this Thursday, Tyson Fury gauged fan interest in a potential boxing match against Ngannou, sharing a fan-made poster of the duo.

Who would like to see me fight this beast (Francis Ngannou) (with) boxing rules (and) @ufc gloves?” Tyson Fury tweeted. “@danawhite @francis_ngannou

Issuing his response to Tyson Fury, Ngannou suggested the two should meet in a professional mixed martial arts fight, sporting boxing gloves, instead.

How about MMA rules with boxing gloves?” Francis Ngannou tweeted. “I can do you that favor.

Once more issuing a tweet directed at Ngannou, Fury claimed that he would knockout the heavyweight champion, and secure him the most lucrative payday of his professional career to date in the same night.

You want to come in to (sic) my world calling me & (Deontay) Wilder out to a boxing match,” Tyson Fury tweeted. “What I can guarantee you would be knocked out & also paid your highest purse to be so! So have a think (thinking face emoji).

In a final response to Fury, Ngannou claimed that once he concludes business with Gane later this month, he wants to fight the Manchester native, whether that come inside the Octagon, in a boxing ring, or a phone booth.
After I handle business on Jan. 22 (UFC 270) I’ll fight you under any special rule set you want,” Francis Ngannou tweeted. “In a ring, an Octagon or a phone booth.

Sean Strickland lands a devastating left head kick to his sparring partner and knocks him unconscious and through the ropes.

Strickland continues to make headlines for being an absolute maniac. He absolutely demolished his sparring partner and wasn’t holding back at all. The video opens up with Strickland just throwing absolute bombs at his partner. The first head kick he landed definitely rocked his partner and the 2nd one was just too much as it turned the lights off on his partner.

Strickland took to his social media outlets to share the video. He said “Don’t ban me Instagram, it was consensual”.

Strickland also recently spoke about how he enjoys his sparring sessions with heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. They spar against each other with 16 ounce gloves.

In another Twitter gem, he said “bottom line is you put 4 ounce gloves on him in a FIGHT and he touches me once and I will go to dreamland!!!! LOL”. It takes a lot of guts to go in against the heavyweight champion, with any gloves on. Ngannou is arguably the scariest man on planet earth right now.

Sean Strickland headlines an upcoming bout against Jack Hermansson at ‘UFC Vegas 47’ on February 5.

This will be Strickland’s second headlining bout in a row. His last fight was against Uriah Hall where he was able to win the fight over him via unanimous decision. That win cemented Strickland as a true contender in the middleweight division and the power he has in his hands back that claim up. Strickland is currently on a five fight win streak and I currently the #7 ranked middleweight in the UFC with a record of 24-3.

His opponent Hermansson is a very talented wrestler and he is coming off an impressive win against Edmen Shahbazyan. He won that bout via unanimous decision and improved his record to 22-6.

UFC 272

UFC 272 will headline two of the sports biggest championship rivalries in the sport as Alexander Volkanovski will defend his title once again against Max Holloway. Aljamain Sterling will also defend his championship for the first time against interim champion Petr Yan.

The fights were first reported by Brett Okamoto at ESPN.

UFC 272 IS STACKED!

The trilogy fight between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski has major implications on both the division and Holloway’s featherweight legacy. If Holloway loses a third straight time to Volkanovski, a move to lightweight may be in the cards for Holloway. If Holloway wins this fight, we may be looking at a fourth fight between the two in the future.

The last time the two fighters met was at UFC 251 where Volkanovski defended his title for the first time since taking it from Holloway. Volkanovski narrowly beat Holloway by split decision in a razor close fight. Since that fight, Holloway has won two straight against Yair Rodriguez and Calvin Kattar. ‘Blessed’ won both of those fights via unanimous decision and put on a show in both of those fights.

Volkanovski defended his title once in 2021 against Brian Ortega in a fight he dominated almost every minute of. Needless to say, Volkanovski won that fight via unanimous decision.

Sterling won in their first fight via disqualification due to an illegal knee from Yan. Sterling hasn’t fought since then due to injuries he sustained to his neck that required surgery. The two were supposed to meet at UFC 267, but Sterling had to pull out due to the fact that he wasn’t fully healed from the surgery.

Corey Sandhagen stepped in for Sterling in an interim title fight against Yan. Yan bested Sandhagen via unanimous decision and looks to regain his title at UFC 272. Sterling is looking to stun a lot of naysayers that believe he doesn’t deserve the title, while Yan is looking to back up his trash talk and defeat his rival.

Are you excited for these two rematches?
