According to a UFC press release and subsequent tweet from Zuffa CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva are set to coach on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

This comes on the heels of some rumors that these two could coach, and now they will coach, and fight, at some point in the future.

The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil is likely to lead the way for many new seasons of the show, as Dana White envisions multiple countries running The Ultimate Fighter simultaneously, and at the end, having all the winners from each country fight, creating a “TUF World Cup.”

Wanderlei Silva is coming off one of the biggest wins of his career—it was career-saving, in fact—as he knocked out Cung Le in the second round at UFC 139 and earned fight of the night in the process.

Vitor Belfort will enter coming off a devastating first-round knockout over Yoshihiro Akiyama, which earned knockout of the night honors during UFC 133.

Both of these fighters are Brazilian MMA legends and will certainly prove to be fantastic coaches and ambassadors for The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

This won’t be the first time these two have met, as they first faced off at UFC 17.5, where Belfort knocked out Silva in just 44 seconds. Ever since that time, Wanderlei has wanted a rematch. Now he’ll get it.

According to the press release, the format for the show will not be like the new FX format but will be more similar to the early Spike format, with six weeks of filming as opposed to 13, and no live fights every Friday night.

The show is set to premiere on March 25, and it will be every Sunday night on Globo. The finale will be sometime in June, but according to Dana White, “we don’t know where that’s going to be yet.”

Belfort was originally scheduled to face Anthony Johnson at UFC 142, however, Johnson’s status for that card is now currently in limbo.

UPDATE: Vitor Belfort vs. Rumble Johnson is still on for UFC 142. Vitor will coach against Wanderlei win or lose.

Stay tuned to B/R MMA for all The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil updates, as well as updates for everything else MMA.

Medical suspensions have been released for UFC 140, including those given to main card fighters Lyoto Machida, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Hominick and Tito Ortiz.

MMajunkie.com received the list of suspensions with Nogueira, Hominick and Ortiz getting the longest suspensions at 60 days. Several other fighters also were suspended for 60 days.

Nogueira suffered a broken arm in his rematch with Frank Mir in the co-main event. During the fight, it appeared as if Mir had dislocated Nogueira’s shoulder due to a vicious kimura applied early in the first round. Later news revealed his arm had been broken. UFC officials have confirmed Nogueira will not need surgery and that he may be able to return to the cage within nine months.

Ortiz took on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and was stopped in the first round due to body strikes. It appeared as if Ortiz had injured his ribs during the stoppage, which will cause him to need a chest x-ray and have an abdominal ultrasound done before his next fight.

Hominick was stopped just seven seconds into the first round, when Chan Sung-Jung knocked him out.

The main event featured former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida going up against reigning UFC champion Jon “Bones” Jones. Machida was choked unconscious in the second round after a guillotine choke was applied by Jones.

Randy Couture: Bisping Probably Deserves a UFC Title Shot

UFC middleweight Michael Bisping believes that he was deserving of a title shot after his one-sided dominant win over fellow Ultimate Fighter coach Jason “Mayhem” Miller back on December 3rd.

However, UFC President Dana White felt that the Brit was still one win away from a shot at Anderson Silva and booked a fight between Bisping and former No. 1 contender Demian Maia for the UFC on Fox 2 card in late January.

If Bisping is victorious, he will then be set to take on the winner of Anderson Silva and the winner of the fight between Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz, which is also set for the UFC on Fox 2 card.

Now that the 32-year-old will have to patiently wait for his turn in line, there is one UFC legend that agrees with the Brit that he is already deserving of a title shot, Randy Couture.

Couture is currently overseas in the United Kingdom promoting his new book “The Last Round” and ESPN.com caught up with him to ask about Bisping,

“I think he probably does. He’s right up there in the top four or five guys in that weight class,” Couture said

“You can split hairs on deciding who the No. 1 contender is. He’s coming off a great outing against Jason Miller, weathered a storm and had the conditioning and great technique to finish the fight well.

“He’s one of the top guys so why not?”

Couture has been around for Bisping’s entire career so far since winning the Ultimate Fighter season three as a light heavyweight back in 2006.

Bisping is currently on a four-fight winning streak and is one of the few top middleweights that has yet to face Silva.

Many believe that the Brit lacks the punching power to match up with Silva on the feet, but Bisping makes up for it with his quick accurate strikes.

If Bisping can get past Maia and earn his first career title shot, he’ll finally be able to prove it inside the octagon.

Anderson Silva Is the Only Fighter in the World Who Can Defeat Jon Jones

Jon “Bones” Jones delivered another spectacular performance last Saturday, defeating former light heavyweight title-holder Lyoto Machida with a second-round submission while taking minimal damage once again.

After his dominating wins over Ryan Bader, Shogun Rua and Rampage Jackson earlier this year, many fans speculated that Machida would pose few problems for the current face of the 205-lb. division, and it turns out they were not entirely right.

Jones survived a few scary moments on the feet against the talented striker, and used his counter-punching ability to rock “The Dragon” on the feet before landing a vicious elbow on the ground that changed the fight entirely.

While Jones finished the fight in impressive fashion, Machida’s ability to get in and out and hit the champion with punches exposed a small whole in Jones’ game, one that only one fighter in the world would be able to capitalize.

Obviously, that fighter is Anderson Silva.

Machida is an excellent striker in his own right, but no one can compete with Silva on the feet, and using Machida’s strategy as a blueprint Silva would pose some serious problems for the best young fighter in the sport.

Silva and Machida have trained together for years, and it is known Silva did his best to help Machida to train for the enigma that is Jones, but if the roles were reversed one has to wonder if Silva would have had more success than his counterpart.

Silva possesses a fighting style that is nearly impossible to train for (much like Jones) and has the accurate striking and raw finishing ability to make any fighter nervous, including “Bones.”

All Silva would have to do is emulate Machida’s game plan to the best of his ability and, of course, not get caught on the feet, and Jones would be in serious trouble.

While Johnny Bones showed that he can take a solid shot, no one lands more shots directly on the button than Silva, and all it takes is a few well-aimed punches from “The Spider” to put anyone on their back.

Of course, Jones would still have a huge edge in the wrestling department, but one would have to wonder if he would be willing to test his luck on the mat due to Silva’s excellent submission game, as Silva has won several of his UFC fights off his back.

Odds are, Jones would probably be the favorite in this matchup, and although it is unlikely to ever happen, Dana White has always said he gives fans the fights they want to see.

After seeing Jones decimate yet another opponent, there may not be any fight possible that UFC fans want to see happen more than this.
