‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is one of the most popular figures in UFC history. With stunning knockouts, he captured the featherweight and lightweight titles then had a blockbuster boxing match against all-time great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018, Ireland’s Conor McGregor has put together a 1-2 record in MMA overall. His most recent matches were back-to-back TKO losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021. ‘The Notorious’ has kept busy with acting, BKFC, court cases, and other distractions.

Liverpool’s Paddy Pimblett was a champion in Cage Warriors before transitioning to the UFC. He has become a popular figure largely due to his demeanor. Currently, he is unbeaten in the UFC with six bouts. Most recently, he submitted King Green in the first round to earn a top 15 ranking.

In a recent interview, Paddy Pimblett believes that a matchup against Conor McGregor would be the biggest fight in history. He explained:

“It would be around the world. It would be unbelievable. It got mentioned to me like eight years ago or something when I won the Cage Warriors featherweight belt. Anyone that would say no to fighting McGregor is just an idiot because you’re never getting a payday like it.

“I’d fight McGregor tomorrow, obviously for the city it would be unbelievable. Me, the biggest star in Liverpool MMA fighting the biggest star in the world when it comes to MMA. I’d take that fight in a heartbeat, I’d love that fight. McGregor is a legend. What he’s done in the sport, it’s unprecedented, especially in the short space of time he did it in. But I back myself against anyone.

“I hope so. I hope I can convince him to go outdoors at Anfield. He needs to come to a footy match to see what the atmosphere is like because I think he thinks it takes away from the atmosphere [going outdoors] But at Anfield it doesn’t, mate, when you’ve got 60,000 scousers in there, it won’t.”

Do Bronx’ Charles Oliveira is set to rematch Michael Chandler at UFC 309, and mutual opponent ‘The Diamond’ Dustin Poirier has offered his thoughts on the upcoming fight booked for November 17 live from Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA.

Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler are both aggressive action-packed fighters, each is aggressive with heavy strikes and mixes groundwork into their games. Iron’ Michael Chandler comes from a wrestling background and was a former Bellator world champion. Do Bronx’ Charles Oliveira is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert who has developed a dangerous Muay Thai game.

Charles Oliveira Next Fight

Chandler and Oliveira first met in 2021 with the vacant lightweight world title on the line. It was a back-and-forth war, but ultimately, the Brazilian got his hand raised with a second-round TKO.

Perennial contender Dustin Poirier has faced both men, with a win over Chandler and a loss to Oliveira. Speaking recently, ‘The Diamond’ offered his thoughts on the UFC 309 lightweight matchup. He said:

“I think it’s a fun matchup. But I think if Charles Oliveira goes into this fight with the same mindset he had when I fought him or the first time Chandler fought him, I think he’s gonna get the win. Obviously, Chandler is very explosive, an incredible athlete, and can hurt and put away Charles. But, I just think Charles is going to be better everywhere, on the feet and on the ground.”

UFC 309

Given the track record of both men, the UFC 309 lightweight showdown could be a fight-of-the-year contender. Charles Oliveira is looking to take one step closer to reclaiming his crown, while Chandler is looking to keep busy while waiting on his previously booked match against Conor Mcgregor. Dustin Poirier currently has no upcoming fight scheduled, but recently said that he has one more fight in him before retiring.

Age Gap Controversy: Rose Namajunas and Pat Barry’s Polarizing Relationship and Sean Strickland’s Accusations

Rose Namajunas' move to flyweight questioned it's the craziest thing I've ever seen UFC Paris

Former UFC champion Rose Namajunas has had a controversial relationship with her coach Pat Barry. The MMA community has taken notice and was even called out by Sean Strickland. Ahead of her fight this weekend, let’s take a look at this.

Age Issues: Rose Namajunas and Pat Barry

Rose Namajunas, a 32-year-old two-time UFC women’s strawweight champion, is engaged to Pat Barry, a 45-year-old former UFC heavyweight fighter. Their relationship has been a source of controversy in the MMA community due to their 13-year age gap and the fact that they allegedly met when Namajunas was only 14 or 15 years old.

The controversy has been fueled by accusations of grooming, with UFC middleweight challenger Sean Strickland being particularly vocal in his criticism. According to fellow fighter Chris Curtis, Strickland confronted Namajunas and Barry about their relationship during a bus ride to a UFC event. Curtis recounted that Strickland persistently questioned the couple about Namajunas’ age when they first met, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone on the bus.

‘Action Man’ Chris Curtis explained:

“It was my debut fight, we were on the bus and Rose and Pat are there. And Sean just immediately starts going in and it just doesn’t stop. And we’re on the way to the venue and I’m like, ‘Bro, I’m in my own head, they are in their own head.’ She lost that fight and that’s the one they blamed you for, right?… In all fairness I’m with Rose on this one. We are on our way to the f***ing thing and Sean is like, ‘So how old was she?’”

In response to the controversy, Pat Barry has attempted to clarify the situation. In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Barry explained that there had been a misunderstanding about when he and Rose Namajunas actually met. He stated that Namajunas had initially joined Roufusport gym at age 14, left for a few years, and then returned to pursue her MMA career. Barry and Namajunas began dating when she was 18 and him 31.

According to Pat Barry:

“This whole Sean Strickland thing that is all over the place everywhere. Years ago, Rose did an interview and said ‘I joined Rufussport when I was 14 years ago, and then I left Rufussport for a few years. Then I came back to Rufussport, to pursue my MMA career, and that’s where I met my fiancee Pat Barry.’ When the guy wrote the interview up, he wrote ‘Rose Namajunas joined Rufussport when she was 14 years old where she met her fiance Pat Barry, when she was 14 years old.’”

Mutual friend Matt Mitrione attempted to explain it was okay as they met earlier but didn’t begin dating until she was 18, which matches accusations, from Sean Strickland, of grooming.

Leading into UFC 308, ‘El Matador’ Ilia Topuria shared some trash talk against ‘Blessed’ Max Holloway. Once the cage door locked, the Georgian-Spanish athlete was able to earn a knockout win against the former champion to defend his title. Afterward, the two exchanged some discussion in the center of the octagon.

After getting knocked out, ‘Blessed’ took some time to speak to the media in spite of his championship loss. The Hawaiian athlete holds the record for most significant strikes landed in UFC history, but was unable to out-strike the highly dangerous Ilia Topuria. ‘El Matador‘ now has knockout wins over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, two pound-for-pound greats.

Speaking to the media, Max Holloways revealed what was said in their post-fight exchange. He said:

“I just told him congrats. You know, he was telling me I’m a legend. You know, all that talk that he does I think he just does it for you guys, you know. He seems like a really good — cool guy. So at the end of the day, he’s being nice, you know, telling me I was a legend, telling me he watched my career coming up, and he takes a lot of inspiration, him and his brother. His brother is nice and cool.”

On the trash talk, Holloway understood. He added:

“So it is what it is, you know. It’s a media game. That’s the way he wants to play it. That’s the way he plays it. But behind the scenes, he’s a cool guy.”

Coming off of the first knockout loss of his career it would be prudent for Holloway to take some time off from the sport and return after a hiatus, which will likely see him move up a weight class to 155. Ilia Topuria has also expressed interest in moving up a weight division to try and become a double champ in the UFC.

Ilia Topuria Issues Chilling Warning to Conor McGregor

El Matador’ Ilia Topuria knocked out Max Holloway at UFC 308, and former two-division champion Conor McGregor called for a fight against the Georgian-Spanish athlete. The featherweight king responded, not sounding too pleased with the Irish fighter.

Ilia Topuria Responds to Conor McGregor

The Georgian-Spanish athlete Ilia Topuria has had a highly impressive 2024 earning knockout victories against the pound-for-pound ranked Alexander Volkanovski and most recently Max Holloway. ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is a former two-division UFC champion holding titles in both the featherweight and lightweight weight classes. Despite his inactivity in the past few years, he remains one of the biggest stars in the sport.

After the UFC 308 main event, hosted in Abu Dhabi, in which Topuria defended his throne with a knockout against ‘Blessed’ Holloway, McGregor took to X and called for a fight in a now-deleted Tweet. He said: “Call me,” then added, “Few [featherweights] in the mix and I beat every single one of them. I am that division’s menace. Point blank. Everyone on that list I hurt badly and finish. Not one of them lay a glove on King Mac.”

In response to McGregor, ‘El Matador’ said:

“I don’t know what to say… He fakes the comeback every time, he insults everyone in the UFC… Bro, you’re f**king sick. You have some problems to fix in your mind, you know. You need to take some class on respect, how to treat other people because you’re gonna end up really, really bad. When you follow these kinds of values in your life, you’re gonna end up really bad. So, honest to God, don’t cross paths with me never ever because I’m gonna f**k you up whenever I’m gonna see you.”

Ilia Topuria has looked to go up in weight and compete in the lightweight division now that he has had his first title defense completed. However, McGregor has struggled to get back in the cage over the past several years. For now, Topuria and McGregor will likely only trade verbally.
