("Listen, Jacare, those hotel carpets are usually covered in…you know what, forget it.")
Strikeforce Houston is set to blast off this Saturday and your old pal Gambling Addiction Enabler has just one question: Could you loan us a few bucks until payday? Seriously, man, we’ve got some can’t-miss fight picks cookin’, and we swear it won’t be like last time. Thanks, bro. For real, you won’t regret this. Would it be cool if we used your shower?
* The Cormier/Riley and Galvao/Patino prelim fights will both be streamed live on Sherdog before the Showtime broadcast.
** Jorge Patino is a late replacement for Nate Moore, who has dropped out of the event due to injury. Please make your Fightpicker changes as necessary.

Muhammed Lawal will walk into the Strikeforce cage on Aug. 21 as the promotion’s light-heavyweight champion, and with the odds strongly suggesting a successful title defense. But the man they call “King Mo” disagrees with the handicappers that have made him as much as a 5-to-1 favorite over Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante.
“If anyone should be a favorite, it should be ‘Feijao,'” he said on a Monday conference call. “He has a name, he’s been fighting longer than me. I remember watching him on Showtime, in Elite XC and in the IFL. He should be the favorite. Due to marketing, people see me as the favorite. He’s the favorite, I’m the underdog even though I’m the champ.”

“King” Muhammed Lawal and Daniel Cormier are two of the best wrestlers in MMA, and they just so happen to be two of the biggest pro wrestling fans in the sport, as well.
So when MMA Fighting was conducting interviews in a ring prior to Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers last November, Lawal and Cormier decided they would put their own spin on the famous ending to the Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior finish at WrestleMania VI. Because, well, why not?
The MMA Hour returned (finally!) Monday with another live broadcast.
On this week’s show, we were joined in studio by UFC welterweight Charlie Brenneman and MMA Fighting’s own Mike Chiappetta. Brenneman is getting set to face undefeated Johny Hendricks at UFC 117.
Later in the show, we talked to Tim Kennedy and Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, who discussed why he didn’t fight at DREAM.15 and what the future holds for him.
