Oleksandr Usyk has made it clear he has no interest in Tyson Fury’s unconventional training methods ahead of their highly anticipated heavyweight rematch on December 21, 2024, in Saudi Arabia.

Oleksandr Usyk Fires Back at Tyson Fury’s Isolation Tactics

Tyson Fury, former heavyweight king, recently revealed that he hasn’t spoken to his wife, Paris, or their children for three months as part of his “beast mode” preparation. Fury’s decision to isolate himself entirely from his family has drawn attention as he seeks to reclaim the undisputed heavyweight championship from Usyk, who defeated him in May 2024.

Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk, however, sees things differently. Speaking in an interview with Frank Warren Boxing, the Ukrainian champion dismissed Fury’s approach and highlighted the importance of his own family in his daily routine. He said:

“No, I speak to my wife every day. Every time. Every second. Every minute. My children too. It’s helped me because it’s my family,” Usyk said. “Listen, for me, it doesn’t matter what Tyson does. For me, it matters what I do.”

‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury is determined to regain his titles and reassert his dominance in the heavyweight division. Meanwhile, Usyk remains focused on defending his position as the undisputed champion, seemingly unfazed by Fury’s psychological ploys.

Known for his colorful personality, Usyk incorporates music and dance into his public appearances. He is often dancing and singing in training. His interest in Kravitz’s soulful track shows what impressive taste the Ukranian athlete has. “Low,” from Kravitz’s Raise Vibration album blends rock and soul elements.

Oleksandr Usyk’s love of music has been a consistent part of his public persona. From singing patriotic anthems like “Oi u luzi chervona kalyna” to dressing in eye-catching costumes during fight promotions, he has become known for his theatrical approach outside the ring. Earlier this year, he dressed as Agent 47 from The Hitman video game series.

Eddie Hearn Changes His Mind and Picks Tyson Fury Over Oleksandr Usyk: "Most Remarkable Things"

Matchroom Boxing chairman Eddie Hearn is picking Tyson Fury to even the series against Oleksandr Usyk.

In May, Usyk came out on top, scoring a closely contested split decision win over ‘The Gyspy King’ to become boxing’s first undisputed heavyweight world champion in more than two decades.

As it stands, the Ukrainian is favored to come out on top once again with DraftKings sportsbook listing him as a -150 favorite versus Fury who is currently sitting as a +120 underdog.

Eddie Hearn expects big things from Fury on Fight night

However, not everyone agrees with the line. In particular, British boxing promotion Eddie Hearn. Speaking with TNT Sports, Hearn truly believes that Fury will deliver something remarkable in Riyadh.

“Talk about how good he is, and I mean, people are feeding him with lines, but he’s still saying, ‘I will stop him. Yes, I am the best. Yes, I am.’ You know, and I’ve not really seen that before,” Hearn said. “So now Fury looks calm, he looks fear… I’m changing my mind. I’m going to go for Tyson Fury. And I just feel like this fight is about extraordinary things. Usyk always does extraordinary things, but every now and again, Fury is capable of the most remarkable things.”

Clearly, Hearn has a lot of faith in how Fury will respond to the first defeat of his career.

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury seem to be laser-focused ahead of their upcoming rematch.

Both boxing superstars are set to reignite their rivalry this Saturday at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where “The Cat” will put his WBA, WBC, and WBO heavyweight titles on the line against Fury.

The pair first squared off in May when Usyk emerged victorious after a grueling split decision. With this win, the unbeaten Ukrainian cemented his status as the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era since Lennox Lewis achieved the feat in 1999, while also handing “The Gypsy King” his first professional setback.

As their eagerly awaited showdown approaches this weekend, Usyk and Fury took the stage for their final press conference on Thursday. The atmosphere was electric as the two engaged in a brief yet fiery exchange on the microphone.

The intensity only escalated during the faceoff that followed, as the two rivals stared each other down for over 10 minutes. Tensions ran so high that officials had to step in and separate them just as they began trading insults.

Following their May fight, “The Cat” was forced to give up his undisputed status when he had to vacate the IBF title, which was subsequently passed on to his former rival Daniel Dubois.

Usyk holds a flawless professional record of 22-0, with 14 wins by knockout. Meanwhile, Fury boasts a near-perfect 34-1-1 record, with 24 of his victories coming by knockout.
