The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon has faced both Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9 in Muay Thai. The Thai-born striker offers his prediction on the ONE 168 Muay Thai title match upcoming on September 6.

Rodtang on Haggerty vs. Superlek

The General’ Jonathan Haggerty is an English-born striker who has grown up fighting in ONE Championship. Last year, in the first round, he knocked out the legendary Nong-O Hama to capture gold in Muay Thai. Next, he knocked out Fabricio Andrade to earn the kickboxing world title. Most recently, he defended his Muay Thai crown via TKO against Felipe Lobo. Despite early struggles in ONE, it’s been smooth sailing since going up in weight.

‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9, of Thailand, is carving out a legendary legacy in Muay Thai. Throughout his career, the top pound-for-pound athlete has earned titles in True4U, WBC, Lumpinee Stadium, and ONE Championship.

Superlek

Between Muay Thai and kickboxing, Superlek is on an impressive 12-fight win streak with notable wins over Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, K-1 Champion Takeru Segawa, kickboxing champion Daniel Puertas Gallardo, and the ultra-talented Panpayak Jitmuangnon, among others.

Now, Superlek is going up in weight to challenge the two-sport king Haggerty for his Muay Thai crown. Rodtang offered his prediction for the title fight going down at ONE 168. He said:

“Haggerty’s strength is he has been fighting in this division for a long time. He can punch very hard and violently. Superlek’s strengths are his powerful kicks and exceptional defensive abilities. I’ve never seen anyone that can knock Superlek out before.

“I’m confident that we’re going to see an exciting fight, full of thrills every second. I’m looking forward to watching this fight. Both are number one in Muay Thai and kickboxing. No matter who they fight, that fight is a must-see.

“It has a high chance to end with a KO.”

Exclusive: Chingiz Allazov to Vacate Kickboxing World Title: “I’m done fighting in ONE Championship”

Chingiz AllazovChingiz Allazov is a decorated fighter in ONE Championship who holds the Featherweight Kickboxing World Title, but he is…

Chingiz Allazov

Chingiz Allazov is a decorated fighter in ONE Championship who holds the Featherweight Kickboxing World Title, but he is looking to leave it behind. After capturing gold in K-1 and ONE, ‘Chinga’ Allazov holds the top rank as the best pound-for-pound kickboxer on earth, but wants to step away from ONE.

Chingiz Allazov

Allazov has taken the kickboxing world by storm. The aggressive kickboxer has highly impressive wins against the likes of K-1 MAX Champion Yasuhiro Kido, GLORY Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, the top-ranked Jo Nattawut, all-time great Superbon Singha Mawynn, and K-1 and GLORY titleholder Marat Grigorian. With these notable victories, Chingiz Allazov is ranked among all-time greats and is the top pound-for-pound kickboxer right now.

In an IG live interview, Marat Grigorian recently said that Allazov has vacated his kickboxing world title in ONE and is stepping away from the organization. In a conversation with Chingiz Allazov, we can update his side of the story.

Chingiz Allazov Leaving ONE

Speaking to the world champion Chingiz Allazov, he explained:

“Yes, it’s true. Before the fight between Marat Grigorian and Superbon, I told ONE Championship that I would leave my belt for this fight, but they said no … They offered me the fight with Superbon before Marat Grigorian, and I said, ‘If I fight Marat, I will finish my career.’”

Over five rounds, Allazov defended his title against Grigorian in 2023. Grigorian then defeated Sitthichai before losing to Superbon for the interim title. ‘Chinga’ was hoping that the Superbon vs. Grigorian fight would be for the undisputed championship.

Chingiz Allazov VS Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong

Allazov continued, after his win over Grigorian he wanted either the Muay Thai Champion Tawanchai in kickboxing or a rematch to avenge a prior loss to Giorgio Petrosyan. He added:

“After that, I asked for a fight with Tawanchai, or even Giorgio Petrosyan again. But Petrosyan is done fighting in ONE Championship, and Tawanchai doesn’t seem interested in a kickboxing match with me. But now, I have a different plan. My own plan for my life and future, not the same plan as ONE Championship.”

Chingiz Allazov continued:

“But this news is true … I’m done fighting in ONE Championship, and I said I would leave my belt for Marat and Superbon to fight for. Before, Superbon won the interim title fight, but after this fight, they offered me another contract. However, I told them no, I’m finishing my career. I have different plans for my life. Maybe in the future, Inshallah, I’ll return to fight other fighters, but for now, I train every day, focus on my life, and focus on my family. Inshallah, always.”

Despite leaving the organization and leaving his illustrious title behind, he has nothing to say but good things about them. Allazov said:

“I wish all the best to all the fighters in ONE Championship, and I want to thank ONE Championship. I have a lot of respect for the whole ONE Championship team and Chatri.”

Chingiz Allazov has had public issues with ONE in the past. It’s not clear what’s next for either party. ONE has not yet officially removed the title from Allazov. ‘Chinga’ may move into fighting with K-1 or somewhere in central Asia. He said he is not yet done with kickboxing as a whole and he will continue to fight.

Chingiz Allazov Marat Grigorian

In a recent IG live, top-ranked kickboxer Marat Grigorian explained that the champion Chingiz Allazov has vacated his kickboxing title with ONE Championship.

Chingiz Allazov

The Azerbaijani-Georgian athlete Chingiz Allazov has risen to the top of the kickboxing world and holds rank as the number one pound-for-pound striker on earth. Since capturing a K-1 Grand Prix Title, he was able to pickup the kickboxing throne in ONE Championship with a highly impressive run. He has defeated standout fighters such as perpetual contender Jo Nattawut, former GLORY Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, all-time great Superbon Singha Mawynn, and former GLORY & K-1 Champion Marat Grigorian.

Most recently, ‘Chinga’ Allazov defeated Marat Grigorian to defend his kickboxing world title. But since then, Chingiz Allazov has been at odds with the organization and has been trying to leave. Speaking to Beyond Kickboxing, Allazov explained:

“After a recent conversation with ONE, my team gave the go-ahead for the Superbon-Grigorian fight for my belt, but they made the fight for the vacant [interim] belt … Now I have another plan. I care about my heart, my legacy, and my dream. I’ll finish my career [with] ONE.”

Marat Grigorian

During an IG live, speaking with Alise Telimi, Marat Grigorian discussed his future and Chingiz Allazov. He said:

“Yes, Chingiz gave back his title, so its vacant now. I asked Chatri about it, but they are silent about it.”

Marat Grigorian

He added:

“I hope titlefight next but I won’t fight it in Thailand cause the last time I feel I was the better one and I’m very dissapointed by the organisation. I came to fight but my opponent was fighting in survival mode. So if I fight for the title it will be in China or Japan but not in Thailand cause there they appreciate Muay Thai rules and I’m a clean kickboxer. I have to be judged on kickboxing rules … I would like to fight Tawanchai or the other Thai fighters but they won’t let him fight me yet, he’s a rising star and they want to build him first before they let him face me. [Translation courtesy of Alise Telimi]

Marat Grigorian had a close loss to Chingiz Allazov, followed by a knockout win against the veteran Sitthichai. Most recently, he had a closely fought loss against Superbon with the interim title on the line. The future remains uncertain for the entire division.

Update: Chingiz Allazov has explained that this story is true.

Bokang Masunyane vs. Mansur Malachiev

South Africa’s “Little Giant” Bokang Masunyane has bounced back from his lone career loss to world champion Jarred Brooks with consecutive victories in the competitive strawweight division. The 10-1 pro fighter made an impact on MMA audiences when he earned a stunning head-kick knockout against former title contender Rene Catalan.

As a boy growing up in South Africa, he had a challenging childhood, including time spent at Kids Haven, a charity for vulnerable youth. Bokang Masunyane picked up wrestling at the age of seven which would eventually lead to a medal in the Commonwealth Games.

Russia’s Mansur Malachiev has had an impressive run in ONE Championship with wins over top-ranked athletes such as Yosuke Saruta and Jeremy Miado. His lone career loss was to former division king Joshua Pacio. Otherwise, he has had a spotless record in MMA.

Former ONE Championship strawweight champion, Jarred Brooks can call himself a champion once more – albeit interim, laying waste to opponent, Gustavo Balart in quickfire fashion with a first round rear-naked choke in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Brooks, a former undisputed strawweight champion under the banner of ONE Championship, headlined last night’s Lumpinee Stadium show in Thailand against Balart, with the former the only eligible party to win interim spoils after a pre-fight weight miss for his opponent.

And laying waste to Balart in the opening round, Jarred Brooks, an alum of the UFC, Bellator and Rizin FF – locked up a rear-naked choke with just 21-seconds remaining in the first frame, forcing a tap and crowing himself as the interim champion – to end the promotion’s Fight Night 24 event in Bangkok.

In the night’s co-headliner, Mayssa Bastos won the atomweight submission grappling crown against incumbent champion, Danielle Kelly over the course of 10 minutes – winning a unanimous decision victory in their one round matchup.

Fans React to Rodtang’s Newest Booking “Piss poor matchmaking once again”

Rodtang ONE 169

The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon has his next booking to defend his Muay Thai world title, and fans are not impressed. Later this year at ONE 169 hosted in Atlanta, USA, ONE Championship paired the Muay Thai champion against Jacob Smith.

Fans laugh at Rodtang vs. Jacob Smith

The Thai-born Rodtang has been a superstar for ONE Championship. The Muay Thai champion is popular on social media and has over 270 victories. Many of his recent fights have been brought into question as they are largely unworthy of facing a champion in Muay Thai. The Jacob Smith fight is one more to add to this list and fans are unhappy.

Some of the recent opponents of ‘The Iron Man’ include the debuting Edgar Tabares, winless in ONE Jiduo Yibu, lower weight class fighters such as Joseph Lasiri and Danial Williams, plus a loss to Superlek Kiatmoo9. Now, he has been paired against the UK-born Smith, an opponent ‘The Iron Man’ already defeated in a dominant fight years ago. In his most recent fight, Smith is coming off of a loss and has only had a single victory in ONE since signing with the organization three years ago. Fans let ONE know their discontent with this matchup.

MuayThaiJME on Twitter said:

“Honestly not sure how anyone can like Rodtang Hitting new lows even I didn’t think were imaginable As much as I like Jacob, he was embarrassed by Rodtang last time out, he’s coming off a loss, & that loss was to the guy Rodtang just beat Piss poor matchmaking once again Shameful.”

RISE fighter Jay Snoddon added:

“I like Jacob but this match literally makes zero sense. Jacob gets merked by Rodtang, then loses to Denis Puric who fights Rodtang and loses in Kickboxing. Now, Jacob for whatever reason gets a title shot?!?”

CombatCr said:

“A truly pathetic slice of matchmaking, a fight that absolutely no one needs to see. Rodtang is a fighter not even worth paying attention to while he’s in fights like this (that we’ve already seen, and do not need to see again at all) while there are so many better options.”

Thesilverwolfgg added:

“Just why? Rodtang easily beat Smith last time and Smith hasn’t done anything to earn this. All the title fights in ATL are beyond lopsided. Man @ONEChampionship thinks we’re really stupid out here in the west.”

On Instagram, _thomasdonnelly said:

“He only wants the easy fights? Chatri needs to stop this cherry picking bullshit”

Rodtang vs. Jacob Smith is not a match that the fight community is impressed with but it is the co-main event at ONE 169.
