Joe Rogan has reacted to the recent news that The Liver King had lied about his use of steroids in order to improve his physique.

Speaking on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC commentator brought along Derek from More Plates More Dates (MPMD) who is an expert in understanding the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

At 45 years old The Liver King had a physique that only very few determined individuals could achieve. From the moment he burst through on the internet scene speculation surrounded just how legitimate and natural his body was.

Despite his original claims of being an authentic athlete, his false claims came to light when an email transcript was linked showing him openly admitting to the use of steroids.

Since this had become unveiled, The Liver King took to his social media to apologise to his following for hiding the truth.

From his initial outburst, Joe Rogan had always believed that Liver King was lying about his physique being achieved naturally given his age and how difficult it would be to reach where he was.

Now that the truth has come out, Joe Rogan sat down with Derek from MPMD to share his thoughts on The Liver King saga.

Joe Rogan Unsurprised By Liver King Steroid Usage

“I wasn’t surprised at all. It completely makes sense but that’s exactly what I expected. There’s no way you can look like that, in your 40s, that jacked, I mean he’s preposterously jacked.” Rogan said.

“Most people could see through it but at the same time, a lot of big names reached out to me when the video came out and they were like, ‘I didn’t think he was natural but this guy literally right to my face would say blatantly I am natural.’ He was lying through his teeth seemingly.”

“The problem with this too is that a lot of people will extrapolate this out and then think everyone with a jacked physique must be doing something, which is problematic… I do believe that physique, maybe not that physique but within striking distance of that in 0.00001% of individuals. One man who likes to joke about his own type of enhancement is Paulo Costa. Proud owner of the ‘secret juice’, the Brazilian and The Liver King had an exchange prior to the announcement declaring a competition against each other for who has the better physique. Whilst we know Costa’s juice is a gimmick with which he plays along with, it seems that for The Liver King, we cannot say the same.

Kendell Cummings, a wrestler at Northwest College in Cody, Wyoming suffered injuries while fighting off a grizzly bear that attacked his teammate, Brad Lowry while visiting Shoshone national forest.

In a report by The Guardian, Lowry suffered a broken arm and puncture wounds in the initial attack which occurred after the pair startled a wild grizzly bear while searching for antlers shed by elk and deer.

“It shook me around and I didn’t know what to do,” Lowry told KSL-TV Monday in an interview from a hospital in Billings, Montana. “I curled up in a ball and it got me a few more times.”

Lowry’s teammate Kendell Cummings attempted to stop the attack on Lowry by screaming, kicking, and punching the bear. Cummings also attempted to pull at the animal’s fur. “I didn’t want to lose my friend. It was bad,” Cummings told the Deseret News. “There was a big ol’ bear on top of him. I could have run and potentially lost a friend, or get him off and save him.” As a result of his intervention, the bear turned its attention to Cummings.

The Grizzly Bear Then Delivered a Vicious Attack on Cummings

“It tackled me, chewed me up a bit, and then when it was done it wandered off, and I started calling out for Brady to make sure he was alright,” Cummings told KSL. After the initial attack, the bear walked about, but then quickly came back for another go at Cummings who was already reeling from serious injuries.

“The bear circled back around, and it got me again, chewed on me, and that’s when it got my head and cheek,” Cummings said. “And then it went away again for whatever reason.” As Cummings pulled himself from the ground, Lowry was able to walk to an area with cellular reception and call 911. Two other teammates helped bring Cummings down from the mountain while Lowry was able to walk unassisted. Lowry and Cummings were both admitted to Billings Clinic hospital where the latter underwent surgery for his injuries.

Wyoming wildlife officials confirmed that they will not attempt to capture and relocate or terminate the animal as it was a surprise attack and because there are many other bears in the area, making it difficult for them to determine which was the one involved in the attack.

Nothing much more can surprise fight fans given how wild fight sports can be. However, this one may be slightly outside the realm of normal.

Taking place at Punch Box 2, see below a snippet of two competitors having their matchup take place in a phone booth. Now combat sports can be extremely brutal at the best of times however this feels like it takes fighting to another extreme.

As you can see the two participants (Ivan Chugunov and Pavel Molchanov) are closed inside the phone booth standing back-to-back before being given the all-clear to get to work and turn around to unleash a fury of punches toward each other all the while basically being stood on top of one another.

Chugunov is able to get the best over his opponent, Molchanov, by landing a fury of strikes which ultimately would have dropped him to the floor had the phone box not been in the position to hold him upright instead.

Just how brutal can fight sports get following footage of Punch Box 2

Although Punch Box 2 is the first time I have seen two competitors fight inside of a phone booth(literally), it is not the first time that combat sports have added something new to provide a truly unique twist to the competition.

It was only earlier this year that many combat sports fans were introduced to the promotion that is Epic Fighting Championships based in Russia which had put on a matchup involving a grandfather and grandson taking on a Female fighter in a two-against-one affair.

For those who have not seen it, the matchup is ultimately scored as a draw despite the family pairing both being knocked down multiple times over the professionally sanctioned three-round bout.

The footage of Punch Box 2 has been circulating all over social media so if anything, and I can’t speak for all, maybe the promotion has gained themselves an entirely new fanbase following the emergence of their truly unique take on combat sports.

After Brittney Griner’s recent plea for help, Tim Kennedy took to social media to point out Griner’s ironic past and “despicable” behavior.

Griner recently penned a letter to US President, Joe Biden, asking for aid. In the letter, Griner stated she was “terrified”, and feels she might be held prisoner “forever.”

This caught the attention of former UFC fighter and army veteran, Tim Kennedy, who had some qualms with Griner and her previous history of protesting the American government.

“Do you remember that time that you were protesting your own government and even requesting that the National Anthem not be played at your games then going back to this same government and pleading that they intervene on your behalf to get you out of a Russian prison after you illegally brought drugs into their country…. Does not get more ironic than this.”

Despite Seeing Griner’s Behaviour As “Despicable”, Tim Kennedy Hopes For Her Release

Tim Kennedy’s issue with Griner goes back to last year’s Black Lives Matter protests where many athletes and individuals showed their displeasure with the current state of America by kneeling during the National Anthem. Kennedy, having served in the US army since 2004, saw this as disrespectful.

Despite this, Kennedy wishes the best for her as she is still an American, at the end of the day.

“Even with her despicable behavior, I do believe that every American is worth fighting for even those that hate their own country.”

Griner was arrested for drug charges in Russia back on Feb 17th of this year. Federal security allegedly found a vaporizer pen containing hash oil, or marijuana, which is considered illegal in Russia. Since then, Griner has been kept in a detention center as her trial is ongoing.

Her situation has an extra layer of complication as Russia continues its war against Ukraine. Many believe that the real reason behind Griner’s arrest is to use her as a political prisoner to exchange for imprisoned Russian figures in America.

Griner plead guilty to the drug charges in the second hearing, and if convicted, she could face up to ten years in a Russian cell.

Aljamain Sterling Recalls Floyd Mayweather Incident

Aljamain Sterling has revealed how he was ready to ‘fight it out’ with Mayweather back in 2016 after the incident occurred at a party the party was attending. Sterling spoke to Spinnin’ Backfist to reveal the story.

“He sent over his minions to try to pick her up, this was back in like 2016 I think. But I was still undefeated at the time. He sent over a guy first who said we can both come down and I was like, ‘Man I’m not stupid’.

“If I come over there you guys are going to try and take her up and try to push me back and then I will face some type of way and I will have to create a scene because you are not going to punk me like that. One of the victims of Goodwin, Sarah, spoke to The Times to recall her encounter with him. Initially, she said she had believed he was a “nice boy” but after what happened she tried to forget about it believing it was a drunken mistake.

Sarah called her sister the following morning after the ordeal and said: “She saw me: I was in a state and confused and trying to come to terms with what had happened. I was in a lot of pain that day.”

Having originally agreed to let it go, Sarah changed her mind when she heard about another victim of Goodwin, a fellow student named Claire. Claire said she was comforted by Goodwin on a night out, and he gave her his coat before pouring her multiple drinks, “to the point where I couldn’t stand without leaning on something” Claire added.

Claire said she didn’t expect this and felt she was safe in a group setting, but after Goodwin managed to isolate her, he repeatedly put his hands down the back of her tracksuit trousers despite being told no.

Both girls had spoken to the university following their ordeals and within a week the police had been called and Goodwin arrested. Claire said: “There wasn’t any communication beforehand of what [we] might like. He just took what he wanted.”

Charles Goodwin Had Previously Been Arrested

Eight months prior to this Goodwin had been arrested for brutally raping and throttling another student but was bailed and then released under investigation without a charge.

Sarah believes the decision to not remand him immediately was a great failing by the Greater Manchester Police

“Why did it take three victims for him to be remanded? Why wasn’t he remanded immediately? I think there are definitely failings in the handling of the Manchester case.”

Claire added: “Why do there have to be more victims for it actually to get to court?”

Goodwin pleaded not guilty which led to both girls having to be interrogated which were not only ‘distressing’ but done in a way to make try and highlight Goodwin favourably.

She added: “It was very distressing. At the break I went into the toilet and just cried. It was just awful. She made me feel like I was in the wrong.”

For Sarah, Goodwin’s barrister argued that she was motivated by jealousy of his girlfriend which she said “I feel like that’s a huge failing [of the system] because that’s something that’s going to stick with me. I’m never going to forget that. “It felt like I was being manipulated by him through the courts. How does that help rape culture in any way to say I was a jealous girl trying to ruin a man’s life?”. Sarah is still coming to terms with everything she went through but has slowly begun to get her life back together having found a boyfriend, but she says it is still affecting her.

“It’s had a massive impact on our relationship, because I had to say to him from the get-go that sometimes when we have sex I might cry, or I might have a panic attack. And it has happened a few times.”

Sarah added she is terrified of getting drunk with people she does not know. She said: “I lost a year of my life when I wasn’t me. I just shut down for a year.”

Goodwin was told by a judge to expect ‘a lengthy period of imprisonment’ and awaits sentencing this month.
