While Rashad Evans prepares for his bout against Phil Davis, the former UFC light heavyweight champion took time out of his busy schedule to sit down with ESPN.com.

It’s certain to say, he had a lot on his mind.

Evans, who appeared at the UFC Summit in Las Vegas, spoke of his ongoing feud with Jones and it seems as though his animosity has grown towards the 23-year-old in the past few months via Twitter.

“Yeah I was gettin’ into it. I like to talk, and I was gettin’ real excited about it. There were a lot of things that made me mad about the whole situation so…I definitely wanted to address a few things,” Evans said.

The former training partners have suddenly grown apart within the past few months, and their feud escalated further when it was learned that Evans would be facing Jones for the light heavyweight title. It is something Evans has been quite vocal of and as a result, he decided to cut off ties between himself and Greg Jackson’s MMA.

Since departing from his former camp, Evans has traveled elsewhere to train.

“I’ma do a little bit in Florida, I’ma do some in Arizona, and I’ma try to get up to New York City and do some training.”

In the meantime, Evans will have to turn his attention to Phil Davis, who has replaced Jones after a hand injury forced him to withdraw from UFC 133. Evans looked at the contrast between Davis and Jones and said Davis still has some maturing to do as a fighter.

“Jon is more confident. Jon will throw something, and just believe it’s going to hit 100%. Phil is still at the point where he’s unsure,” he said.

UFC 133 is scheduled for August 6 live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“Suga” Rashad Evans spoke to MMADigest about a variety of subjects leading up to his fight vs. Phil Davis in August at UFC 133. The fight has recently been scheduled to replace his title fight against the now-injured champ Jon Jones.

On similarities between champ Jones and replacement opponent Davis

“They are both athletic, pretty good wrestlers and both have a ranginess to them. That’s probably where it ends right there.”

On the twitter war with Jones and how it started

“Just speaking the truth man, just speaking the truth. He had made a comment about beating me in practice and I was like, if you beat me in practice it was DESIGNED for you to beat me in practice because I was trying to help you get ready for Bryan Bader so.” he told MMA Digest.

No doubt he meant Ryan Bader, or was he taking a shot at Bader?

When asked if the training sessions with Jones were one sided, he also went on to explain the training relationship and the purpose of it.

“When you have a training relationship, it’s not about winning, it’s about making each other better and helping each other. As the fight comes closer, you peak at the right time. I was trying to get him ready, but whatever.”

On Rashad’s Milli Vanilli comment towards Jones and if he thought it bothered Bones

“I don’t know if it bothered him or not and it doesn’t matter. He is fake. When you fake you fake.”

On where Rashad is training these days

“Not at ATT. I’m at Imperial.” He said he is training day to day with the likes of the Villefort’s, Jorge Santiago, Big Foot and Calvacante among others.

On how the fight with Phil Davis at UFC 133 is going to go down

“I’m gonna put on a good show, and the result will be my hand being raised. Phil Davis is a tough guy so I’m gonna have to train hard and fight hard.”

I was looking forward to Evans vs. Jones but the Davis fight is very interesting as well. I look forward to seeing it!

TORONTO — Rashad Evans wanted to fight for the championship. Phil Davis wanted time off. Neither man got their wish. Earlier this week, the UFC announced the two would face each other at UFC 133 in August.

It was a situation born of necessity, after UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones was informed that his hand injury would require surgery, pushing back his return to the octagon. UFC president Dana White said Jones might need as much as six months before he’s ready to come back, and time waits for no man, even the champ. So the UFC went to plan B. Last time this happened, Evans passed, electing to wait and fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. But then Rua got healthy, Evans got hurt and was forced to withdraw. Now it’s coming up on a year in between fights for Evans, and he can’t afford to wait any longer.

A loss will nearly certainly knock Evans out of the No. 1 contender spot, but that doesn’t mean Davis will be fighting for a chance to compete for the belt.

The grudge match will have to wait. So will Jon Jones‘ first title defense.

A hand injury has knocked the new UFC light-heavyweight champion out of action for the time being, leaving the UFC without a main event for its upcoming return to Philadelphia in August. As a result, the promotion has booked a fight pitting Jones’ scheduled opponent Rashad Evans against rising star Phil Davis.

The UFC 133 fight was confirmed by the UFC on Monday morning. It was first reported by the Canadian Press.

Chandella Powell and Phil Davis are Secret Lovers?

Ever since an entire year ago, when Ariel Helwani asked “Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis who he wanted to fight next and he answered, “Chandella Powell“. (See video below) Rumors have swirled that the two may be secretly dating or at the very least, Davis has a torch for her.

Um...this is the only pic of them together we could find, so they must be hiding this relationship well.

Um…this is the only pic of them together we could find, so they must be hiding this relationship well.

A short time after the interview with Helwani, That MMA Guy, Ryan Justason straight up asked Davis:

RJ: “Do you have a thing for Chandella Powell?”

And with out saying yes, (but essentially saying yes) Davis replied,

PD: “I mean, she’s a good looking young lady but I think she’s fairly professional. I don’t think fighters are her thing.”

And now, over an entire year later, Phil Davis appeared on The MMA Hour this week and said he didn’t know who his next opponent would be but again, brought up the one person who seems to be on the tip of his tongue and at the forefront of his head. Again, saying he would like to fight Powell:

PD: “You know what? She’s ready. I’m ready.”

If the two aren’t secretly dating, there may be some kind of special bond brewing. Even Powell took to Twitter last week, tweeting:

To everyone asking me, No I am not dating @philmrwonderful yes he is one of my favorite people in the UFC and my very good friend.

Davis is one of her favorite people? Seems like Mr. Wonderful knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s winning the fights and the girls. Take note, Charlie Sheen.
