The Season Seven lightweight tournament finalists were decided Friday night (Nov. 16, 2012) with wins by Marcin Held and Dave Jansen on the main card of Bellator 81.

Bellator 81 took place at the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island with the main card airing live on MTV2 and the prelim card streaming live at Spike.com.

Held moved into the lightweight final following a nasty toe-hold submission against Rich Clementi, forcing the tap at 3:04 of the second round in the main event of Bellator 81. While Jansen earned a split decision against Brazilian Ricardo Tirloni in their back-and-forth lightweight semifinal bout.

Season Six featherweight finalist Marlon Sandro made short work of Bellator newcomer Dustin Neace, choking out his opponent in the first round with a rear-naked choke to earn the technical submission win at 2:05 of the first.

With Movember in full swing, Canadian fighters Patrick Cote, Nick Ring and Antonio Carvalho have all opted to grow ‘Mo’s’ for the month of November in support of Men’s health. All three fighters are set to compete this Saturday at UFC 154 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Cote will face Alessio Sakara, while Ring takes on Costa Philippou, and Carvalho meets Rodrigo Damm.

With one punch, former Strikeforce middleweight title holder Cung Le (9-2) earned himself his second Octagon victory as well as the “Knockout of the Night” bonus, an extra $40,000 in his back pocket. Le faced former UFC champ Rick Franklin in a middleweight matchup in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 6, in the promotions first trip to China. Le appeared tentative in the opening minutes, picking his shots versus Franklin. After ‘Ace’ landed an outside leg kick, Le would reply with an overhand right connecting right on the chin. Franklin would fall face first to the mat ending things at 2:17 of the round.

Former UFC welterweight Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson (14-4) stole the show Saturday night during the WSOF 1 television broadcast. ‘Rumble’ earned a one punch knockout victory, finishing a fighter who had never been stopped before in former heavyweight D.J. Linderman. After an apparent eye-poke, which referee Herb Dean did not see, Linderman pushed forward looking to take advantage of the pause but was instead dropped to the mat after a right cross from Johnson.

Bellator Fighting Championships continues it’s seventh season tournament this Friday when it visits Orilla, Ontario. Bellator 79 will feature a semifinal bout in the heavyweight and featherweight divisions.

Heavyweights, Season Five tournament finalist Thiago Santos and Season Four light heavyweight Richard Hale, meet in the main event of the Canadian show. As well as featherweight tourny semifinalists Mike Richman and Russian Shahbulat Shamhalaev.

Bellator 79 is set to take place on November 2, 2012 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario with the main card airing live on MTV2 and the prelim card streaming living at Spike.com.
