Bellator’s first-ever event in Japan on December 29 will feature a throwback heavyweight encounter between Fedor Emelianenko and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

The news was announced by the promotion in a press conference in Japan on Wednesday.

Emelianenko has not competed since his knockout defeat to Ryan Bader in the finals of Bellator’s heavyweight grand prix earlier this year. However, his return to action will now see him return to Japan where he made his name in mixed martial arts.

“Nineteen years ago, I fought my first fight in Japan and ever since I have fallen in love with this country,” Emelianenko said (via MMA Fighting). “I’m very happy to return and fight in Japan in front of the most unique atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced.

I’m very happy to be able to do so with my opponent—a friend and a fight comrade who I fought side to side with in the same time. I’m very excited to be able to put on a great fight. I will work hard and do my best to put on a beautiful performance for all of the Japanese fans.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jackson — who last enjoyed a knockout win over Wanderlei Silva in September last year — has also had his fair share of competing in Japan and can’t wait to return there again:

“I don’t know if you guys know, but Fedor is and has been for a long time my favorite fighter,” Jackson said. “It’s strange to have to fight someone that you look up to and that you admire so much, but I love fighting in Japan so I just wanted to come back here and fight. I’ll fight anyone they tell me too if they tell me that I’m fighting in Japan.”

The event will take place in Saitama. According to Bellator president Scott Coker, he also plans on bringing three Bellator fighters to face three RIZIN fighters in challenger matches.

Fedor Emelianenko is reportedly set for his farewell fight in Japan when he takes on Quinton Jackson.

“It looks increasingly likely that Bellator will run a show Dec. 29 in Japan. Main event being discussed is Rampage Jackson vs. Fedor Emelianenko, and it would be billed as the Russian’s final fight in Japan,” The Athletic’s Josh Gross is reporting.

Emelianenko last fought back at Bellator 214 where he was fighting for the heavyweight title and in the grand prix finals. But, he was knocked out by Ryan Bader in 35 seconds. Since then, he has signed a new contract with Bellator which is expected to be his ‘farewell’ tour as of sorts. Before the loss to Bader, he knocked out Chael Sonnen and Frank Mir in the grand prix opening rounds.

The legend of the sport and one who is in the GOAT conversation is currently 38-6.

Quinton Jackson, meanwhile, last fought at Bellator 206 when he TKO’d Wanderlei Silva. Before that, he lost to Sonnen by decision in the opening round of the heavyweight grand prix.

Surprisingly, the two have yet to fight each other during their long careers.

Currently, this is just a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by Bellator. But, it would be a Bellator card in Japan and not a RIZIN cross-promotion event.

Who do you think will win the fight between Fedor Emelianenko vs. Quinton Jackson if it happens?

Chuck Liddell Entertains Potential Rampage Jackson Trilogy

Chuck Liddell has teased fighting Quinton “Rampage” Jackson” after his third fight against Tito Ortiz.

Chuck Liddell entertains the idea of potentially fighting former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson again. This all comes down to his performance in his next fight after being out of the game for nearly a decade.

Back in September, Rampage expressed his support for Liddell and Tito Ortiz wanting to fight again each other for the third time. The former UFC light heavyweight champion does have some history with Liddell but has yet to fight Ortiz. If you recall, Jackson beat Liddell by knockout to win the UFC light heavyweight title back in 2007 at UFC 71. Before that, Liddell lost to Jackson in Pride in 2003 by corner stoppage.

Chuck Liddell Teases Another Fight

The two MMA Legends are slated to meet for a third fight at an event that goes down this weekend. Liddell was recently asked about a potential fight against Jackson for a third time. This where he entertained it but it depends on his performance at the end of the day.

“If I perform the way I think I’m going to on Saturday then I’m definitely going to be looking for another fight after this,” Liddell told TMZ. “There’s a lot of guys. (Chael) Sonnen’s been running his mouth, there’s always ‘Rampage’ still in it. Wanderlei (Silva) is still in it, Vitor (Belfort) has been talking about it, so we got a lot of guys out there who are possibilities.”

Jackson currently fights at light heavyweight and heavyweight. Most recently losing to Chael Sonnen in the first round of Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix and beating Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 206 by TKO.

Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz 3 goes down on Saturday, November 24, 2018 inside The Forum in Inglewood, California. The main card will air on PPV (pay-per-view) at 9 p.m. ET with six bouts. The preliminary card will begin at 6 p.m. ET.

Rampage & Wanderlei Silva Want Fifth Fight To End Rivalry

These two MMA legends could be fighting for a fifth and final time.

The post Rampage & Wanderlei Silva Want Fifth Fight To End Rivalry appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei Silva’s mixed martial arts (MMA) rivalry isn’t going anywhere.

The two heavy hitters have been a staple in the sport for the past few decades. Initially, the pair squared off for the first time ever under the Pride banner. The Brazilian finished Jackson via first round TKO. One year later, Jackson sought redemption when he met Silva again in Pride. Unfortunately, the result was the same, with Jackson losing via second-round knockout.

Four years later, both Jackson and Silva would find their way into the UFC. They were booked for a third fight at UFC 92 in December of 2008. “Rampage” finally extracted his revenge. He brutally knocked out “The Axe Murderer” in the first round.

A decade later, both men are now inked to deals with Bellator MMA. They co-main evented this past weekend’s (Sat. September 29, 2018) Bellator 206 pay-per-view (PPV) card. In the fourth meeting of a series that was in favor of Silva 2-1, Jackson evened the odds.

Jackson picked up his first win since 2016 by finishing Silva in the second round via TKO. Despite the series sitting at a 2-2, with both men in their 40s, their desire for a fifth fight is mutual. Silva said in the post-fight press conference that real rivalries don’t exist in MMA anymore. He and Jackson’s is one of the last ones (via MMA Junkie):

“Real rivals don’t exist anymore,” Silva said. “This is one of the last ones. Four fights, never go to the points. Now we have to have the fifth fight.

“I accept already. I hope he accept too because he beat me two times, I beat him two times and now have to have fifth fight to decide. … Next time I’m going to cut your head.”

Jackson wasn’t expecting a fifth fight to even be a discussion. Now that it is, “Rampage” is game:

“Honestly I wasn’t thinking about a fifth fight because last time I beat Wanderlei he dropped weight classes,” Jackson said. “It’s a dream come true that he comes up to heavyweight because I’m like, ‘Damn, I’m too fat to fight Wanderlei now.’ But he came up to heavyweight, which means he’s a true soldier.

“He came up after the fight and said, ‘You know, we’re 2-2. Somebody’s got to be the victor.’ He said it, so it surprised the hell out of me. I’m down with a fifth fight, but I don’t know if (Bellator President) Scott (Coker) is down with a fifth fight. But I’m down for the fifth fight.”
