Mike Dolce, one of the key members of Team Quinton “Rampage” Jackson for the last couple of years, has not been helping Jackson prepare for his UFC 130 fight against Matt Hamill.

Dolce, a fighter who was a cast member on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter but has gained notoriety as of late for his work as a nutritionist and strength and conditioning coach, had been working closely with Jackson since his UFC 92 fight against Wanderlei Silva.

The pair didn’t have a falling out, however, Dolce was just already booked to work with Thiago Alves for his fight against Rick Story at the same event.

“Business-wise, it’s a great problem,” Dolce said on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour, “but as a friend, emotionally, it’s really hard for me. I had a really tough time with that. I felt like I was leaving my friend; I was leaving my team behind in moving on with my professional responsibilities.”

SAN DIEGO — When Keith Jardine heard that Gegard Mousasi had only watched one round of his fight with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 96 to prepare for their bout on Saturday night, a sly smile spread across “The Dean of Mean’s” face.

“I love that fight,” Jardine said in his soft, low voice. “It’s one of my favorite fights, but I definitely didn’t do well in that one.”

When he thinks back on it now, he was too flat-footed in that bout, and he got exhausted early on. In fact, maybe it’s good that Mousasi chose that fight to watch a single round from.

“It might have made him a little more confident,” Jardine said.

But even though he lost a decision in that bout, it’s what people don’t know about it that helped make the performance one of Jardine’s personal favorites.

It would be easy for Rashad Evans to sit around and second-guess himself these days. It would be easy to dwell on the what-ifs, or to wallow in the bitterness of recent events.

He waited the better part of a year for his title shot, forsaking other opportunities to fight and risking the ire of UFC president Dana White. With the fight less than two months away, a freak accident in training injured his knee and forced him out of the UFC 128 main event. Now the UFC has shuffled Jon Jones – Evans’ own teammate – into the title fight in his place, leaving Evans’ future as uncertain as ever.

“It’s hard,” said Evans. “Of course it’s hard. I can’t lie and say it’s not hard or that I don’t think sometimes, I wish it was me. I’d be lying if I said that. But I believe that everything happens for a reason.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans has not been offered a fight with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 130 in May, Evans’ manager, Malki Kawa, told MMA Fighting on Wednesday.

After MMA Weekly reported earlier in the day that Jackson’s original opponent for that event, Thiago Silva, had been forced off the card, rumors circulated that Evans could be tapped as a replacement on the May 28 fight card.

Those reports are premature, according to Evans’ management. And yet, as of Wednesday afternoon there are still questions surrounding Silva’s ability to participate in the bout.
