Former undisputed light heavyweight champion, Rampage Jackson claims he likely would not have implemented much wrestling or grappling tactics in a fantasy fight with current division champion, Alex Pereira if they shared the Octagon during their primes.
Jackson, a former undisputed light heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, is revered as one the most formidable knockout artists in Octagon antiquity, as well as one of the most recognizable fighters in modern mixed martial arts.
As for Pereira, the Brazilian phenom has enjoyed a roughshod run through both the middleweight and light heavyweight ranks since his move to the UFC less than three years ago, adding to his stature with a stunning knockout win at UFC 303 last month.
Headlining the International Fight Week card on short notice against former champion, Jiri Prochazka, Pereira felled the Czech Republic native with a spectacular second round high-kick knockout win in their Las Vegas rematch.
Rampage Jackson breaks down fantasy fight with Alex Pereira
“I probably wouldn’t have tried to take Alex (Pereira) down,” Rampage Jackson said during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. “I probably would have tried [to strike with him] until he started f*cking me up, then be like, ‘Oh, sh*t, it’s like to take him down.’”
During his title run with the UFC, Jackson turned in a stunning knockout win over Chuck Liddell back in 2007, before successfully defending the crown in a unanimous decision win over fellow former PRIDE FC star, Dan Henderson.
Who would have won in a fantasy UFC showdown: Rampage Jackson or Alex Pereira?

Rampage Jackson was a legendary figure in Japan as he competed in Pride from 2001 until 2006 as he had 19 straight fights in Japan.
With Jackson being a beloved figure in Japan, he met a member of the Yazuka Gang, who was running Japan at that time. The gang was involved in gambling, drug trafficking, and extortion and they allegedly had ties to Pride.
After some time, Rampage Jackson finally met a gang member who found out he had a Japanese kid, and the gang member gave him a unique gift.
“I had a friend out there. His name was 36 and the guy took a liking to me. He was super cool all [tattooed] up. I think he was super rich. When he found out that I had Japanese kids he said, ‘Your son needs this’. It was like a gold samurai helmet,” Jackson said on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Jackson says his ex-wife told him the gift was worth around $30,000 to $40,000.
Rampage Jackson did return to Japan for his last MMA fight back in 2019 as he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Fedor Emelinaneko.
Rampage Jackson teases boxing return
Rampage Jackson was linked to a boxing match with Shannon Briggs last month in Qatar but the fight was scratched due to some concerns the promotion was scamming them.

Paddy Pimblett Requests Signature Orange Shorts For His UFC 304 Return
In recent times, certain high profile UFC fighters have been granted custom shorts from Venum that they helped design.
The likes of Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Zhang Weili, Dustin Poirier and Alex Pereira have all stepped inside the Octagon with their own distinct looks.
Paddy Pimblett is hoping that he will be able to add his name to this list when he returns at UFC 304 later this month.
During his days in Cage Warriors, before he signed to the UFC, Pimblett was known for competing in bright orange shorts – which he wants to bring back in front of the UK fans.
‘Rampage’ Jackson Says Boxing Clash With Rashad Evans Is Being Spoken About For Later This Year
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has had to wait a long time to make his debut in boxing due to the saga with Shannon Briggs that never led anywhere.
Now, he has changed his focus and could be set to square off with one of his greatest rivals once again.
Jackson and Rashad Evans fought back at UFC 114 where Evans won via a unanimous decision following one of the most memorable seasons of The Ultimate Fighter.
“Rampage” recently stated during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that he could be set to box Evans, with ONE Championship potentially hosting the contest at their event (ONE 169) in Atlanta on November 8.
“He’s still trying, but I lost my faith in Shannon [Briggs],” Jackson said. “I don’t know if he’s going to get it done. He talks a good game. I hope he get it done. If he ever gets it done, I’ll be game to fight him, but right now, I guess my first boxing match is going to be against Rashad. I need to get that win back.”
Magomed Ankalaev Continues To Call Out Alex Pereira Following UFC 303
Magomed Ankalaev has been as vocal as ever following the UFC light heavyweight title fight that took place at UFC 303 on June 29.
After missing out on the title shot with the champion Alex Pereira instead facing Ji?í Procházka in a rematch, Ankalaev believes that he is the next in line.
His latest post spoke about why this fight needs to happen next, reaffirming that he will stop Pereira once they meet inside the Octagon.
“@AlexPereiraUFC kept away from me for a reason, and I do understand this is business @ufc best fight the best and he is the best for now I will keep my (word),” Ankalaev wrote on X. “I will knock him out. @Mickmaynard2 @danawhite nothing better than you’ve seen an event somebody going to sleep”

UFC legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Rashad Evans are looking to renew their rivalry, but this time in boxing.
Jackson was supposed to box Shannon Briggs on June 1 in Qatar but that fight didn’t happen. With Jackson looking to get back into action, he has floated the idea of rekindling his rivalry with Evans.
The two were both on TUF 10 and the two fought each other at UFC 114 with Evans winning the bout by decision. That was the only time the two have fought, but Jackson says despite them being friends now, he is open to them having a boxing match against each other.
“It was good catching up with Rashad because he is actually fun, he’s actually a good guy,” Jackson told Demetrious Johnson in an interview (via BloodyElbow).
“I just didn’t like him back in the day. The director of A-Team Joe Carnahan did another movie called Boss Level and he had a bright idea to make Rashad and I German twins. We were on set and at first, it was kind of tough but after a while we became cool and we’ve been boys ever since but I feel like I still have that unfinished business with him,” Jackson added.
Although the two are friendly, Jackson says there is unfinished business and would like to box Evans.
“He said that he’s down to fight me in a boxing match, I don’t think he wants no more MMA because he knows I was going to put my foot through his ass in MMA, he just got lucky and beat me so he thinks he can outbox me, so hopefully one day that will happen,” Jackson added.
‘Rampage’ Jackson last fought in MMA in 2019 when he suffered a TKO loss to Fedor Emelianenko and is 38-14 as a pro. Rashad Evans, meanwhile, is 20-8-1 and returned to MMA in 2022 with a decision win over Gabriel Checco.
Rashad Evans shows interest in ‘Rampage’ Jackson rematch
After Jackson called for a rematch with Rashad Evans, Evans also expressed interest in the bout.
