Veteran MMA fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson credits Jake Paul for bringing life back to boxing.

“Rampage” last stepped in the cage in 2019. His career spans 52 fights since 1999. In Jackson’s last bout, he was bested by Fedor “The Last Emporer” Emilianenko by TKO in round 1.

Jackson hopes to make a comeback with a boxing debut against the two-time heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs. The veteran boxer possesses a professional record of 60-6-1, and one No Contest.

As an MMA fighter, Jackson holds the sport as number one but is also a huge fan of boxing. However, he feels as though boxing suffered a dry spell before the Paul brothers stepped in.

“I don’t think about them but I think that they are very entertaining. It seems like they resuscitated boxing. With all due respect to all the boxers even though I’m MMA all day, I represent MMA and we got a war against boxers right now, I don’t hate boxers or the sport of boxing. I think boxing is a great craft that I’ve been trading for 15 or more years now. Once Mike Tyson left boxing wasn’t exciting anymore,” Jackson told SCMP MMA.

As a YouTube star with millions of subscribers, Jake Paul brings a lot of attention to the sport.

Many assumed the social media personality would see defeat against experienced fighters but at 5-0 and wanting more, Paul continues to train and make headlines.

Boxing and MMA fans everywhere tuned in to watch him give Woodley’s first L in boxing, and then finish him by knockout in their rematch.

Even Claressa Shields gave props to Paul for his recent influence in women’s boxing. Though the two have clashed, Shields appreciates the work he has done for getting next weekend’s highly anticipated Serrano v Taylor fight off the ground.

Many fighters are siding with Jake Paul. His stance on fighter pay has a lot of UFC fighters thanking him. And now, even a seasoned mixed martial artist like “Rampage” Jackson is acknowledging the accomplishments of the rising boxing star.

What are your thoughts on Jake Paul’s boxing career?

A mysterious Russian MMA fighter is making headlines today after one of the most unusual assaults we’ve seen at a press conference to date.

The whole thing was captured on video, taken from a press conference held by a Russian promotion thought to be called “Arena Fighting”.

MMA Fighter Gives Opponent Flowers and Attacks

The clip opens up with one fighter advancing to the other, flowers in hand. He extends them as a gift, but when the other fighter starts to get up, the man who had the flowers hits him with a roundhouse that appears to get checked.

That doesn’t stop the action, as the original aggressor takes his opponent down, as security and even another random fighter intervened to split them up.

Things seem to calm down once the two get separated, but all of a sudden the MMA fighters get back into it again, and the gift giver seemingly lands or barely grazes the recipient with a spinning back kick. Unfortunately for the man who was given the gift and assaulted, security was about to rough him up too.

One of the security guards can be seen getting the gift recipient in a rear-body lock, before fully raising him up and channeling Rampage Jackson’s aura with a vicious slam.

Russia is known for having some of the wilder MMA promotions. Including Epic Fighting, which is known for putting on purposefully mismatched fights, or “Freak Show Fights”, including male vs female bouts.

One such fight saw a female MMA fighter take on a 530lbs man. While another featured a female fighter named Yulia Mishko who took on a 75-year old man and his 18-year-old grandson at the same time… and she won.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Rampage Jackson has shared footage of his son, Raja Jackson competing at a Global Legion FC event on the regional circuit in the United States – with his son wrapping up a slick anaconda choke win.

Jackson, who is best known for his stints under the Japanese-based Pride FC banner as well as his time with the UFC – where he landed the undisputed light heavyweight title, last competed professionally back in December 2019 under the Bellator banner, dropping a one-sided first round knockout loss to Fedor Emelianenko

Rampage Jackson embarked on a 5-3 record during his eight-fight run with Bellator MMA

Improving to 2-0 as an amateur, Raja Jackson managed to eventually set up an expertly applied anaconda choke, patiently setting up the finish before forcing a tap from his opponent. Sharing the footage of his son’s second amateur victory, Rampage Jackson posted the finish on his official Twitter account.

“A little footage from my son’s fight (at) Global Legion FC,” Rampage Jackson tweeted with accompanying footage.

In his first amateur outing, Raja Jackson, who plys his trade under Quinton and Bellator MMA alum, Antonio McKee – the father of undefeated featherweight kingpin, A.J. McKee – stopped Zalimkhan Shakhrudinov with second round ground strikes back in November of last year.

For Rampage Jackson, the sport pioneer boasts a 38-14 professional record, scoring a notable 20 career knockout wins.

The veteran has defeated the likes of Igor Vovchanchyn, Kevin Randleman, Murilo Bustamante, Chuck Liddell, Ricardo Arona, and Murilo Rua during his time under the Pride FC banner, before an eventual UFC move back in 2007.

Landing in the organization with a knockout win over Marvin Eastman, Rampage Jackson would go on to score a second career win over Liddell to win the undisputed light heavyweight championship, before then besting Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, Keith Jardine, Lyoto Machida, Matt Hamill, and then Fabio Maldonado in his final Octagon walk in 2015.

Rampage Jackson Says People Are Misinformed About MMA Fighter Pay: ‘People Think We Broke’

The topic of fighter compensation has been at the forefront of discussion in the industry for the last few months and a UFC legend in Rampage Jackson has given his two cents on the issue.

A large part of this conversation becoming such a hot button subject has been the ongoing war of words between Jake Paul and UFC President Dana White but lately, more and more fighters from past and present have sounded off including former light heavyweight champion Quinton Rampage Jackson.

During an interview with South China Morning Post, Jackson said that while he never received an extremely lucrative payday, he acknowledged that the fans operate on a belief that all fighters are broke and that’s just not the case.

“I’m not gonna lie, I get kind of defensive when they talk about pay because the stigma of MMA fighters throughout the years of my career of fighting is that we fight for chump change and that’s why we not as respected in the sports world and stuff like that cause people think we broke.”

Rampage Jackson Says Public Is Misinformed About MMA Fighter Pay

Jackson added that while he had “never done Mayweather numbers or the 30 million dollar paydays,” a lot of MMA fighters are paid quite handsomely. He said a big reason for this common misconception was that unlike boxing, the only payment information released to the public was only what the fighters are paid by the athletic commission. This means that some prize money, brand sponsorship money and all other endorsements or ventures a fighter may be involved with are usually not disclosed.

“Some MMA fighters did well,” Rampage said. “I never done [Floyd] Mayweather numbers. I never done the 30 million, 20 million dollar paydays. I never made that type of money, but some MMA fighters do OK.

“So I’m kind of torn. It’s kind of embarrassing that people don’t think we don’t make that much money.”

Another notion Rampage wanted to clear up was that not all boxers make more than all MMA fighters, it’s only the top one percent that get paid so lavishly in boxing. He added that you can’t allow the likes of what Mayweather, Fury and Wilder bring in to represent all of boxing because the guys lower on the card make less than most MMA fighters do.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rampage Jackson isn’t interested in joining the UFC Hall of Fame if Dana White and the brass call him.

Jackson is arguably one of the greatest light heavyweights in UFC history, and easily one of the most intimidating. His trademark intensity made him a fan favorite during his time competing in the octagon.

Jackson was one of the biggest contributors in the UFC after they merged with Pride in the 2000s. He earned the light heavyweight title over Chuck Liddell is one of the most infamous knockout finishes in the promotion’s history.

But Jackson doesn’t want any part of his former employer, saying in a recent interview with The MMA Hour that he doesn’t look at his time with the UFC with a smile on his face.

“I don’t know if I say this, I’ll get sued by the UFC, but all I can say is, after I did the A-Team, some organizations made it really hard for me to do other movies,” Jackson said. “That’s all I can put out there. I can say I signed with one of the biggest agencies in Hollywood, and they didn’t do sh*t for me, and I felt like it was on purpose. Actually, I know it was on purpose because now they own UFC.”

“I don’t fight for no Hall of Fame. What do you get for being in the Hall of Fame?” Jackson continued.

Rampage Jackson Is Pursuing New Avenues And A Potential Boxing Match With Shannon Briggs

Jackson last fought in MMA back at Bellator 237, losing to Fedor Emelianenko by first-round knockout. He had a brief return to the UFC at UFC 186 when he defeated Fabio Maldonado by unanimous decision.

It’s unclear what is next for Jackson’s combat sports career, but he could face Shannon Briggs in a boxing match sooner rather than later. He still remains one of the most entertaining presences in the sport and will surely still entice fans who want to watch him compete.

“Rampage” Jackson believes Triller Triad Combat is the new game in town and that the UFC and Bellator should be worried.

Triller Triad Combat debuted last night along with a brand new fighting ruleset that involved two-minute rounds in a triangular ring with punching from the clinch allowed.

The matchups were MMA fighters vs. boxers with Jackson captaining the MMA team while former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs captained the boxing team.

Names like Mike Perry emerged victorious by decision for the MMA side who earned four out of seven wins. However, the night ended with boxing on top as Kubrat Pulev knocked Frank Mir out on his feet in the first round of the event’s headliner.

Rampage Jackson: It’s Here To Stay

All in all, it’s definitely something new and Jackson believes it might shake up the combat sports scene.

“It’s something new; I think it’s here to stay,” Jackson told MMA Junkie. “I think the UFC is gonna be worried about this. I don’t know what Dana White’s response is gonna be.”

How long it’ll be here to stay remains to be seen. Triller has long boasted of paying its fighters better than the UFC and that only continued last night.

But whether these events are profitable enough will determine whether Triller can keep paying the fighters well. For now, though, Jackson believes all the major MMA promotions need to be worried.

“I think UFC and Bellator should be worried right now, honestly,” he added.
