Rashad Coulter is hoping to find his way back to the UFC after his boxing bout against Viddal Riley on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. later this month.

‘Daywalker’ lost his first three fights with the promotion while competing as a heavyweight. He dropped down to 205lbs to face Hu Yaozong and picked up his lone UFC win in November 2018. Coulter was subsequently cut by the promotion and has since fought just once – a knockout loss against Ike Villanueva.

Coulter has struggled to get fights in MMA since that defeat. As a result, he has found himself back in boxing, a sport he has competed in just once. Coutler picked up a first-round knockout in his boxing debut back in 2015.

In an exclusive interview with LowKickMMA, Coulter revealed he has a great passion for MMA and is hoping to return to the sport after November 28.

“My mind is always open to whoever’s gonna pay me to fight. I love MMA. My heart is MMA because of the brutality,” Coulter said. “You know, I can hit you once you hit the ground, I can jump on you until the ref comes and stops it. The Ike Villanueva fight man I had a lot of underlying issues going on, that I won’t really get into right now. That’s a fight that I should have won and hopefully with this fight, it opens up more doors if it be for boxing or let it be for more fights in MMA.

“It’s kind of like the problem that I ran into now is I’ve been trying to fight in MMA but I can’t get any MMA fights at all. I’m trying to stay at 205lbs in MMA. I think I got one fight offer for heavyweight, but then that show got cancelled. I’m ready to go, whatever door opens, man.”

Coulter is hoping he can prove he has what it takes when he faces Viddal Riley on the undercard of Tyson-Jones. He says if the chance to re-join the UFC comes up he will grab it with both hands.

“After this fight hopefully the doors are going to be open and people are going to be like, ‘Hey man, like, you know what, this dude actually does have what it takes’. I mean, if the UFC door opens again I’m going in head first,” Coulter said. “I love the UFC. That’s like the NFL of fighting, right? It’s like the NFL be like any, any of these major promotions. So I’m looking forward to it man hopefully it opens up more doors if it doesn’t I’m okay with that.”

Out of the seemingly countless amazing bouts on tonight’s (Sat., June 9, 2018) UFC 225 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, perhaps the most innocuous of them was the heavyweight bout between Rashad Coulter and Chris de la Rocha.

However, the fight ended up being an all-out slugfest with both fighters throwing and landing a never-ending stream of massive shots.

The action started off hot with Coulter winging haymakers:

De la Rocha landed some strikes of his own and got a takedown, only to see Coulter get back up and continue landing some big shots:

But “The Daywalker” may have gassed himself out throwing all the massive blows, as de la Rocha got top control in the second round and began unleashing a torrent of ground and pound, forcing the referee to stop the fight and give de la Rocha an impressive stoppage victory:

UFC 211 emanated tonight (Saturday, May 13, 2017) from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX. A pair of title fights topped the bill, as heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic looked to defend his belt and avenge a 2014 loss to challenger Junior dos Santos in the process. Meanwhile, Joanna J?drzejczyk put her strawweight strap on the line against Brazilian smashing machine Jessica Andrade.

Miocic took home one of the $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses with his first-round knockout of challenger and former champion Junior dos Santos. Miocic controlled the action from the outset, backing “Cigano” to the fence and unloading with power punches on his cornered opponent. After a final volley floored dos Santos, Miocic pounced and didn’t let up until referee Herb Dean jumped in to save the Brazilian.

The other Performance of the Night bonus went to “Mississippi Mean”, aka “Hick Diaz”, aka Jason “The Kid” Knight. He had a back and forth battle with Chas “The Scrapper” Skelly through two rounds. The featherweights traded power punches while Skelly scored with takedowns. But Knight fended off any effective Skelly offense on the ground with his active and aggressive guard game. Early in the third round, a step-in uppercut from Knight dropped Skelly and the Alan Belcher protege polished off his Texan opponent for the third-round stoppage. For his efforts, Knight walked away with $50,000 extra.

Down on the prelims, Fight of the Night went to heavyweight brawlers Chase Sherman and Rashad Coulter. The two big men duked it out for the better part of ten minutes. Sherman’s leg kicks left Coulter badly hobbled, but the UFC newcomer hung tough, throwing – and often landing – giant bombs on Sherman’s chin. “The Vanilla Gorilla” ate everything Coulter had and kept on throwing. By the second round, elbows, kicks, and punches had Coulter badly compromised, but his intermittent haymakers landed often enough to stave off the referee and allowed the bout to continue. Finally, a Sherman elbow folded Coulter up against the fence and prompted the referee stoppage. The wild slugfest resulted in both men earning $50,000 bonus checks.
