Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard (28-2-1, 1NC) successfully defended his other title Friday night in Sydney, Australia. The Cage Fighting Championship 185 pound title holder stopped UFC veteran Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen in the main event of CFC 16, earning a first round TKO via doctor stoppage.

Lombard was crowned the CFC middleweight champ back in 2007 and has now successfully defended that title seven times.

The Cuban Judo champ opened a cut on Doerksen’s head early in the fight. While pinning his opponent against the cage, Lombard proceeded to drop punches and elbows to his opponents head, opening a two-and-a-half inch cut along Doersken’s hairline. Referee Steve Perceval stepped in to call for the cageside doctor who immediately stopped the bout. Apparently the cut was so deep that the doctor said he could see Doerksen’s skull.

The win was Lombard’s seventeenth straight victory, and he remains undefeated in twenty-two straight fights. He is set to return to Bellator FC in a non-title bout in May when he meets Falaniko Vitale in Atlantic City, New Jersey as part of the Bellator 44 card.
