Aorigele

Chinese heavyweight sensation Aorigele once suffered a low blow so vicious that it caused onlookers to vomit.

Aorigele had become immensely popular in his native country and, thanks to social media, around the world over the last several years as the heavy-set mixed martial artist continuously displayed strength and agility that earned comparisons to ex-fUFC star Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson. But if you ask MMA fans what they know about Aorigele, they’ll likely remember him first as the guy who took perhaps the most brutal groin kick in the history of combat sports.

In 2017, Aorigele stepped into the cage for a bout with Hyun Man Myung at Road FC 39. Riding back-to-back first-round knockouts, including a 35-second knockout of Bob Sapp, the plus-sized striker was keen to make it three in a row. Unfortunately, his hopes were dashed mere sends into the contest when his opponent landed a gut-wrenching low blow that sent Aorigele crashing to the canvas and writhing in pain. The accidental strike was so horrifying that one witness said, “I just threw up at the sound.”

Aorigele Held No Ill-Will Toward His Opponent

Road FC promoters confirmed that Aorigele was released from the hospital shortly after his admission and revealed that the fan-favorite would suffer “no lasting or permanent damage.”

In his first statement following the incident, Aorigele placed no blame on his opponent and remained focused on recovering before an inevitable return to the cage. “What’s left now is to return to Road FC after a full recovery, meet Myung Hyun-Man, and put on a thrilling match,” he said. “Many people might have misunderstood what happened in our match. It was totally an accident. Myung Hyun-Man didn’t do it intentionally.”

The big man bounced back, returning to the Road FC cage a little more than three months later. He would go on to win four more wins, extending his streak to six. His last bout came against Jae Hyuk Heo in 2019.

The MMA world was mainly focused on UFC on FOX 30 from Calgary, but another fight in Road FC last weekend (Sat., July 28, 2018) showcased one of the strangest and most unique displays of MMA you’ll ever see.

It happened in a middleweight bout between Michel Pereira and Hae Jun Yang at Saturday’s Road FC 48 show from Wonju, South Korea, where Pereira utilized a Superman punch off the fence, rolling kicks, some fancy dance moves, and even a backflip facing the more grappling-focused Hae-Jun.

Pereira seemed to take things more seriously towards the end of the second and in the third rounds, opening up with a huge onslaught of punches and knees to win the fight by TKO.

Brutal elbow break at Road FC in China…

Controversial MMA fighter Gilbert Yvel recently secured a nasty technical submission win over Mighty Mo at a Road FC event in China.

Yvel, who infamously knocked out a referee during a bout many years back, broke Mo’s elbow while working on a brutal armbar, but did immediately release the submission once he knew the elbow had broke.

It’s not for the squeamish, but watch the gnarly elbow snap for yourself:

Yvel went winless in three UFC appearances but has been on a four-fight win streak since his UFC release, with all four coming by way of a finish.

The Dutch kickboxer is also a BJJ purple belt and appears to have redeemed himself from his more dangerous and reckless reputation earlier on in his career.

Now having won four fights in a row, would you like to see Yvel in Bellator or back in the UFC?

Referee Herb Dean is Intrigued by Road FC’s Unlimited Points Scoring

Herb Dean is digging the idea of Road FC’s “unlimited points” scoring system. Under the unified rules of mixed martial arts, a 10-point must system is in effect. Road FC has gotten away from that in an effort to solve scoring issues in the sport. Often times, many argue who did more damage at the […]

The open-weight tournament final from the ROAD FC 33 event from Seoul, South Korea, today featured quite the earth-shaking knockout.

In a battle of massive super heavyweights, Korean giant Hong Man Choi, perhaps best-known for facing legendary Pride FC champ Fedor Emelianenko, faced off with K-1 vet Siala-Mou “Mighty Mo” Siliga. Although he held a monstrous size advantage on his opponent, Choi was shown size isn’t everything when Siliga knocked him out with an absolute missile of a right hand.
