Has Ronda Rousey’s boxing improved?

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey may not have fought since her crushing knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, but that’s not kept her out of the headlines. ‘Rowdy’ went in to hiding for months following her beating at the hands and feet of ‘The Preacher’s Daughter,’ later revealing she’d considered suicide, the only thing that stopped her was her partner Travis Browne’s support. Her sensational re-entry to the mainstream media in the form of interviews with the likes of Ellen DeGeneres was met with a number of obvious questions.

The main one being thrown around was about whether or not the formerly unstoppable champion would ever seek to win her belt back. Initially ‘Rowdy’ was evasive when asked, even refusing to answer any questions about fighting in general at one stage, but the MMA world was still obsessed with Rousey’s comeback. Then came the news of her new movie deals, and it seemed as though her fighting career may be a thing of the past.

Rousey S1

A nude and body painted photoshoot with Sports Illustrated saw Ronda Rousey seemingly back in good spirits, but answered little about her urge to enter the arena of combat again. The announcement of her three movie deal with Lifetime cast massive doubt over her pugilistic future, and could we really blame her after the way the mixed martial arts community reacted to her harrowing loss?

After being listed in Time Magazine’s top 10 most influential sports personalities, another very revealing video of Rousey emerged. This time she declared her motivation for coming back and winning the belt once again, and blasted those who had been so abusive since her first professional defeat.

Just yesterday a new video of Ronda Rousey training her boxing skills emerged, and it has everyone going nuts over her potential return all over again…

It looks like the beef between former women’s UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Invicta FC queen Cris Cyborg is far from over….

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey got some advice from Mike Tyson recently, that she seems to have listened to. The former boxing heavyweight champion advised ‘Rowdy’ to show her face again, and become comfortable with the spotlight being on her. After her spectacular knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, we’ve had little more than a few cryptic tweets and rare photos of her in spats, until last night that is. Appearing on SNL, Rousey looked like she’d got her groove back.

Breaking out in song and dance might not have been what ‘Iron Mike’ meant, but it was at least refreshing to see the fallen queen back on her feet again. Discussing her fighting future and upcoming movie roles, it seems as though it’s all coming up aces for Rousey once again. She even finally congratulated Holm on her victory, coming full circle in her apparent recovery from the nasty head kick. That said, there’s obviously one person that used the opportunity to throw a jab at Rousey, yep, you guessed it…

Ouch!

We expected more from you Cris, actually no, we didn’t. Amidst rumours of a UFC 200 return against Holly Holm, the ongoing beef with Cyborg and all these movie roles flying at the queen of the armbars, it seems not a great deal has changed since UFC 193.

Sure, she is no longer the champion, but Ronda Rousey is still in charge of the mixed martial arts game. Eat your heart out Conor McGregor.
