Ryan Garcia is either a total basketcase or an absolute genius. Either way, he’s got millions more in the bank account because of it.

After spending the last few months making fans, pundits, and most importantly, his opponent think he had suffered a complete and total mental breakdown, Garcia revealed that he had seemingly pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes ahead of his career-best performance against Devin Haney in NYC.

For months, Garcia appeared to be a man on the edge, making some downright disturbing allegations as he was preparing for his title clash with the WBC super lightweight champion. Even the Nevada State Athletic Commission stepped in, ordering a mental health evaluation on the 25-1 fighter before he was allowed to show up at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

By now, we all know that Garcia not only showed up, but he showed out, knocking down Devin Haney three times en route to a stunning majority decision victory. Unfortunately, Garcia went into the bout three-pounds over the 140-pound limit making him ineligible to win the WBC title. However, it appears as though becoming a world champion was never a concern for ‘King Ryan.’ Winning was the only goal, no matter the cost.

Ryan Garcia

During a recent appearance on the PBD Podcast with Patrick Bet-David, Ryan Garcia claimed that his erratic behavior over the last several weeks was nothing more than a work of fiction — a narrative seemingly designed to throw off his opponent and the sportsbooks.

“We have it pre-recorded, months ago,” Garcia said. “What’d I say was gonna happen? I said, ‘I’m about to make sure everybody thinks I’m gonna go crazy. I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that. Watch, it’s gonna be called the great escape. Like, I have it all documented. I was already planning it weeks and months behind. ”

“I don’t know what made me come up with the idea, honestly. One day I just decided to just go all in, and commit to the plan that I had. And I was not gonna budge for nobody. I was acting like, sporadic. Like just crazy. Faces, I would do this (scrunch) with my nose, and then I’d be like, ‘It’s just a tick.’ I did make adjustments, but what was real though is at times I did drink a little bit during camp. Because I like to drink.”

Ryan Garcia Lays it on the sportsbooks

As Ryan Garcia’s behavior became more bizarre with each passing day, his odds of winning the fight dropped drastically on sportsbooks. Seeing an opportunity to capitalize, ‘King Ryan’ reportedly placed a $2 million bet on himself to win at +600, meaning he walked away with $12 million in addition to his fight purse. All told, Garcia left ‘The Big Apple’ with $50 million in his bank account.

“.. It kept unraveling itself,” Garcia said. “If I’m being quite honest, it was more of a — it wasn’t so much my ideas, it was more so just wisdom coming from God. And then I just made adjustments as I went. I would have these strong urges. Like [signs] from the Holy Spirit to do this, do that.

“And then God always cleaned up everything I was doing. I felt like on one side I had the enemy pushing me to do certain things and then I had God and it was just like, no matter what happened, God always made it right.”

With several potential fights at his disposal, Ryan Garcia is already cooking up some ideas on how to hype up his next appearance inside the squared circle.

“Maybe I’ll go into an I’m super disciplined narrative or maybe I just act even crazier,” he concluded. “Maybe I’ll take it a step too far or maybe I make it look like it’s a step too far. Who knows.”

Sean O'Malley claims two more wins in UFC will earn him a boxing fight with Ryan Garcia

Sean O’Malley is confident he will have a massive boxing match like Conor McGregor did and says it will be against Ryan Garcia.

O’Malley and Garcia have both expressed interest in the potential matchup, and the intrigue only increased after Garcia pulled off an upset win over Devin Haney over the weekend.

“They told me you can do a boxing fight, 100 percent, if it makes us enough money,” Sean O’Malley said on his TimboSugarShow podcast. “So the option’s there, it just has to be able to make enough money. But Ryan being a f****** freak like that, you need two A-sides to make a f****** Floyd-Conor fight.”

Although Sean O’Malley wants the fight to happen, he says he still needs two more fights and win to get it and make it that much bigger.

“I’m not there yet,” O’Malley said. “I’ve still got to become bigger. Two more f****** sick performances and then we’re talking about being able to do whatever the f*** we want.”

In the lead-up to Ryan Garcia’s boxing match against Devin Haney, many fans were worried about his mental state.

However, after Garcia won, he says he was doing that on purpose to make people think he wasn’t as good as he was. But, O’Malley admits there is some concern about Garcia after the big win, and how he may handle himself.

“I think he’s that crazy, he’s that good too,” O’Malley said. “He probably trained hard. Some people have different genes. I couldn’t do it. … He’s going to make his money. Let’s see where he goes in the next two weeks. Winning that big of a fight, making that much more money, having those s***** people around you, let’s see where he’s at mentally in two weeks.”

For now, O’Malley is just focused on his MMA career, but he knows he will face Garcia in boxing before their careers are up.

Ryan Garcia cashed in on Saturday night.

Not only did the 25-year-old boxing star bag the biggest win of his career, but he also walked away with $12 million after reportedly placing a $2 million bet on himself at +600 odds to defeat Devin Haney. All told, ‘King Ryan’ walked away with roughly $50 million following his impressive showing in The Big Apple.

“If you bet, BET ON YOURSELF. On top of what we made, EATING GOOD,” Garcia wrote on Instagram. “About 50 million (probably more) in one night; not too shabby.”

No wonder Ryan wasn’t concerned with forking over $1.5 million to his opponent after showing up more than three pounds over the limit.

Did Ryan Garcia pull off the greatest troll job in combat sports history?

After having a complete mental breakdown on social media over the last several weeks, sportsbooks heavily favored Haney to come out on top inside the Barclays Center. Garcia was listed as high as +800, meaning a $100 bet would have netted you a return of $800.

Pundits have since theorized that Ryan Garcia’s slew of nonsensical rants on social media were nothing more than a way to bring down his odds of winning. The cherry on top was Garcia showing up heavy 24 hours ahead of fight night and chugging a beer as he stepped on the scale.

According to ESPN, there are no regulations about a boxer betting on themselves by the Nevada State Athletic Commission or the Nevada Gaming Control. Whether or not that holds true in NYC remains to be seen.

Eddie Hearn and Ryan Garcia's father get into explicit verbal altercation following Devin Haney fight

Things got intense between Ryan Garcia’s father and British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn on Saturday night.

‘King Ryan’ scored perhaps the biggest win of his professional boxing career, dispatching WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney with a sensational 12-round performance that saw him knock down ‘The Dream’ three times during the contest. Garcia ultimately left with a majority decision victory despite Haney walking into the bout as a massive 8-to-1 favorite on multiple sportsbooks.

Immediately following the festivities, Hearn and Ryan Garcia’s father got into a heated verbal exchange backstage.

“Big respect to Ryan Garcia, he was amazing,” Hearn began before being interrupted by Garcia Sr. “Well done, well done.”

“That’s what you get. You’re a piece of sh*t” Garcia Sr. shouted.

“Oh really? F*ck you. F*ck you, you little piece of sh*t. What are you talking about?” Hearn responded.

“F*ck you, you know you’re a piece of sh*t and that’s what you get,” Garcia Sr. said, grabbing his crotch in the process. “Now what are you going to say? Luke Campbell and Devin Haney, f*ck you. Now who have you got?”

Hearn offered up reigning IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis, which instantly calmed things down between the two. Hearn reached out, offering a handshake that Garcia Sr. accepted.

After his decisive performance against Haney, Ryan Garcia appears to have plenty of fighters ready to step up and cash in on his big win. ‘King Ryan’ welcomed a clash with Ennis, to which the former two-time Golden Gloves Champion called Garcia “food.”

Garcia also accepted a challenge from British boxing star Conor Benn.

“Let’s run it in London at the O2,” Garcia wrote in response to Benn’s challenge on X. “I will fracture you SPLEIN and then eat it.”

As it stands, Benn is ineligible to compete in the UK after testing positive for clomifene on two occasions in 2022. The ban was lifted in July 2023 but was reinstated last month after the British Boxing Board of Control successfully appealed the decision to reinstate the Greenwich native.

Ex-UFC champion Israel Adesanya lost 20k betting on Devin Haney to KO Ryan Garcia

Israel Adesanya’s wallet is a little lighter this morning.

After months of bizarre behavior, Ryan Garcia shocked the boxing world on Saturday night, handing WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney the first loss of his career. ‘King Ryan’ looked as sharp as ever, knocking ‘The Dream’ down three times over the 12-round affair en route to a majority decision victory.

Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney

Needless to say, it was a good night for the sportsbooks. Haney was a significant favorite going into the contest with some sites listing him as high as 8-to-1. ‘The Last Stylebender’ decided to take the bait, placing a $20,000 bet on Haney to KO Garcia at +100 odds, meaning that Adesanya would have doubled his money had the bet hit.

“Shoot the dice,” Adesanya wrote on X alongside a picture of his play.

Instead, it was Garcia who nearly finished things. After catching Haney with a booming left hook in the opening round, Garcia slowed down a bit, leading many to believe he’d already punched himself out. That theory was thrown out after ‘King Ryan’ dropped his opponent in the seventh, tenth, and eleventh rounds.

And poof! $20,000 down the drain.

It’s not the first time Israel Adesanya has lost big money betting on boxing

It’s far from the first time that Israel Adesanya has come up short while laying down big money. He put another 20k down on Francis Ngannou to leave with a win over Tyson Fury last October. Unfortunately, ‘The Predator’ came up short on two of the three scorecards, a decision that was and still is heavily scrutinized.

Ngannou vs. Fury

In reality, it’s unlikely that the ‘Stylebender’ is putting up his own money. His sponsorship deal with Stake likely affords him so many opportunities to play with house money — so long as he advertises his bets on social media.

Still, 20 grand is nothing to scoff at, no matter whose pocket it comes out of.
