UFC welterweights Sean Brady and Michel Pereira are set to face off on March 25th.

It has been announced that Brady and Pereira will join the likes of Holly Holm, Chidi Njokauni, and Maycee Barber on the UFC’s San Antonio, Texas card.

Pereira now has the opportunity to break into the UFC’s official top 15, having compiled an impressive five-fight win streak over the likes of Khaos Williams, Andre Fialho, and Niko Price. Pereira’s most recent victory came over the dangerous Santiago Ponzinibbio back in May, and appears to have found his footing in the promotion after a rough start to his UFC career.

As for Sean Brady, the 30-year-old will look to bounce back after his first career loss at the hands of Belal Muhammad at UFC 280. This fight came after 11 months his last and the jump up in class proved too much for the highly touted Brady who would be TKO’d in the second round.

Before the loss, Brady had compiled an impressive run, holding wins over Michael Chiesa and Jake Matthews. The Philadelphia native poses high-level grappling skills and even holds a win over jiu-jitsu legend, Craig Jones, in submission grappling.

The bout is set to be a real clash of styles with Pereira presenting an unorthodox striking style while Brady will likely rely heavily on his grappling skills.

Who do you think will win, Sean Brady or Michel Pereira?

Sean Brady has opened up about the hate he received after his loss to Belal Muhammad.

Top ten-ranked welterweight contender Brady took on Muhammad in his last outing at UFC 280. He went into the bout looking to extend his 15-fight win streak against Muhammad, who put his eight-fight unbeaten run on the line. Muhammad came out firing from the get-go and dispatched Brady by TKO in round two.

Sean Brady opens up on the hate he received in the loss to Belal Muhammad

In a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Sean Brady talked about the criticism he received for losing his undefeated record after the first loss of his professional career.

“Someone messaged her and said that if I won the fight against Belal that they would kill me and bury me in the desert – it was pretty bad,” Brady said (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “She was right there front row sitting with [Joe Pyfer], and she busted through the security and got to me when I was walking out of the [octagon], but she was right there [in Abu Dhabi] with me, [and] she got messages.”

Brady hit back at the haters who threatened his wife

Whether it was due to losing a wager or for any other reason, Brady does not appreciate the side of fans that causes problems for his wife.

“Dude, these fans, they’re scumbags,” Brady said. “Don’t get me wrong, there’s great fans, then there are these people with fake profiles that write to you afterward. I just read this message [earlier this week] that was like, ‘You’re a piece of s***’ – they just say the most wild things to you. I don’t let it get to me. I try not to lean into that s*** anymore. But my wife, she’s a registered nurse. All she does is take care of people, and people are threatening her, calling her this, calling her that.

Brady encouraged the haters to message him directly if they had something to

“Message me. Don’t message my wife, especially if you’re a man. Be a man. Say it to me, don’t say it to my f****** wife, because my wife could probably beat you up.”

Belal Muhammad likens Khabib Nurmagomedov to Kobe Bryant; ‘He demands greatness of you’

Belal Muhammad

Belal Muhammad scored perhaps the biggest win of his UFC, handing previously undefeated contender Sean Brady his first career loss in a dominant performance.

Extending his winning streak to eight in a row, Muhammad put away Brady in the second round via TKO. Speaking to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, Muhammad discussed his training camp building up to the UFC 280 showdown, specifically his experience working with UFC Hall of Famer, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“This guy doesn’t understand tired. We’re going from sparring to grappling, and then he tells me ‘Come in the cage’ and he’s putting me on the fence and taking me down at will and just, like, drowning me,” Muhammad said.

“I’m sitting there dead and all of a sudden at the end of it, they’re like, ‘Well, OK, you got three minutes of planks.’ I’m sitting there, dripping, I look to my right and I see Islam there. He tells me, ‘Khabib does not know tired.’ There needs to be some rest in between because the practices are so hard that my body ended up breaking down halfway through.”

Belal Muhammad Compares Khabib Nurmagomedov to Another Legendary Athlete

Belal Muhammad compared Nurmagomedov’s determination and strive for greatness to that of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, the five-time NBA Champion, and 18-time NBA All-Star who tragically passed away in a helicopter crash with his daughter Gianna and seven others in 2020.

“He demands greatness from you. I just watched (The Redeem Team) and how Kobe Bryant would go to the gym at 4 AM and it made the other guys work that much harder. Khabib is the same way where you want to do extra for him. You want to push yourself much harder for him because he doesn’t have to be there. He’s got all the money in the world, he’s got all the accolades in the world, he’s been a champion.

“He’s accomplished it all, but he’s giving you his time, his knowledge. Even when we’d do warm-ups and he’d tell us, ‘You guys aren’t pushing hard enough. What are you guys doing? You gotta do it again.’ So we have to go again. There’ll be some guys that’ll come in tired, and he’ll take their phone from them at night, and he’ll be like, ‘You need to go to sleep on time.’” (H/T Bloody Elbow)

Under the tutelage of Nurmagomedov, Belal Muhammad improved to 22-3-0. His knockout of Sean Brady earned him a $50,000 performance bonus and moved him into the No. 4 stop on the promotion’s welterweight rankings.
