Alex Pereira

Sean O’Malley suggested that Alex Pereira‘s insane weight cut ahead of UFC 287 could result in him finally surrendering a loss to Israel Adesanya.

Alex Pereira shocked the world in November when he scored a fifth-round knockout against ‘The Last Stylebender’ to capture the UFC middleweight championship. Months before stepping into the Octagon for their UFC 281 showdown, ‘Poatan’ revealed that he weighed 105.6kg, which is just under 233 lbs. In order to hit the middleweight limit of 185, Pereira had to cut nearly 50 lbs. The towering Brazilian powerhouse is likely looking at a very similar weight cut going into their highly anticipated rematch this Saturday night at Miami-Dade Arena.

Sean O’Malley Expects Israel Adesanya to Wrestle Alex Pereira in Rematch

Discussing the UFC 287 headliner on the Timbo Sugar Show podcast, Sean O’Malley believes that Alex Pereira’s extreme weight-cutting could be his downfall, especially if he’s still attempting to cut 20+ pounds during fight week.

“How much weight is (Pereira) cutting? Izzy really doesn’t have to land clean too many times if he’s cutting that much weight,” O’Malley said. “That motherf*cker’s cutting 20 pounds, 25 pounds. Fight week, your chin goes, your brain fluid (goes).”

“I think (Adesanya will) come out and wrestle,” O’Malley added. “I feel like he’s going to come out, he’s got a couple maybe good takedowns, come out (and) wrestle, put him on his back, really get him thinking. Maybe (Pereira) won’t be able to march forward as much” (h/t Current Sportz)

Many expected Adesanya to put his wrestling skills to work in their first meeting last November, but ‘Stylebender’ opted to keep the fight standing. It nearly paid off for him as he clipped Pereira toward the end of the opening round. Going into the fifth round, it appeared as though Adesanya would escape with a unanimous decision victory. That was until Alex Pereira turned up the heat and delivered a barrage of strikes, forcing referee Marc Goddard to step in and call for the stoppage.

Going into the bout believing this is his last chance to settle the score, Israel Adesanya may attempt a different path to victory, putting his wrestling skills to the test. That could very well be his best chance at finally solving the puzzle that is Alex Pereira.

Hasbulla

Internet sensation Hasbulla came under fire after a viral video made the rounds showing the pint-sized star abusing his pet cat.

People online quickly called for the Russian to be canceled while others came to his aid, suggesting that the clip was blown out of proportion. Appearing on his YouTube channel, No. 2 ranked bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley advised critics that they need to take Hasbulla’s disability into account, suggesting that it is just as much mental as it is physical.

“Well, we gotta remember he’s disabled. Or handicapped. He’s got a disability. We gotta remember. We look at him like a 20-year-old little person. He definitely has a disability,” O’Malley said.

Sean O’Malley’s Coach Tim Welch Was Told Two Different Things Regarding Hasbulla’s Disability

Hasbulla, 20, suffers from Growth Hormone Deficiency, otherwise known as Dwarfism. The condition does not have any type of intellectual effects, but O’Malley’s coach Tim Welch revealed that he had been told two different things regarding Hasbulla’s handicap from people that supposedly knew him well.

“In Dubai, they told us two different things. One person said he’s got the mind of a third-grader. The other person said no, he’s got a normal mind. Two people that knew him,” Welch revealed.

“But it is f*cked up. Hopefully, someone told him, ‘Hey, don’t beat on your f*cking cat.’ You can clearly see this cat is scared of you. Do not beat on it. If that cat was a little bigger, it would probably eat him. Seriously.”

In September, Hasbulla announced that he had signed a five-year contract with the promotion after making an appearance at UFC 267 the year prior. Many fans hoped the contract meant they would finally get to see Hasbulla break out his ‘Mini Khabib’ persona to take on rival Abdu Rozik inside the Octagon. For now, he’ll essentially operate as a mascot for the billion-dollar business, attending events, making media appearances, and selling merchandise to help further line the pockets of UFC president Dana White.

“I wish someone would do that to him,” O’Malley said in response to Hasbulla’s controversial cat video.

O’Malley, the current #2 ranked bantamweight contender, most recently featured at UFC 280 back in October of last year in Abu Dhabi, UAE on ‘Fight Island’ – defeating former undisputed bantamweight contender, Petr Yan in a close, debated split decision win.

Knocked from his number one perch at bantamweight last month, Montana native, Sean O’Malley was replaced at the top of the pile by the surging, Merab Dvalishvili, who himself took out common-foe, Dudinka native, Yan in a clear-cut unanimous decision win in the main event of UFC Fight Night Las Vegas.

Claiming in the immediate aftermath of his win over the Russian late last year how he would be fighting for Octagon gold next.

In May, headlining UFC 288 in Newark, New Jersey – undisputed bantamweight kingpin, the above-mentioned, Sterling searches for his third defense of his throne, taking on the returning, former two-weight champion, Cejudo.

“My next fight will be f*cking huge,” Sean O’Malley said on his podcast. “Winner of Henry (Cejudo) vs. Aljo (Aljamain Sterling). I talked with the UFC and that’s happening. It’s official. Winner of that fight, I’ll fight.” (Transcribed by MMA News

Sean O'Malley UFC return July title fight

Surging UFC bantamweight contender, Sean O’Malley has claimed that he will be making his Octagon comeback as soon as this summer – explaining how he will find himself in a July title fight under the promotion’s banner.

O’Malley, who was the number one ranked division contender up until last weekend – dropped to #2 in the official bantamweight rankings following UFC Las Vegas, with Georgian grappler, Merab Dvalishvili knocking him from his perch with a decision win over common-foe, Petr Yan.

Himself dispatching former undisputed and interim bantamweight titleholder, Yan in Abu Dhabi, UAE in October of last year, O’Malley secured a close, unanimous decision win over the Dudinka native on ‘Fight Island’.

The Montana native had maintained that following his win over Yan, he would only fight in a championship outing for the promotion next, however, the UFC have since booked an undisputed outing between titleholder, Aljamain Sterling, and the returning, Henry Cejudo on May 6. in Newark, New Jersey.

Offering to feature as a backup fight at UFC 288 at the Prudential Center, O’Malley was rebuffed by the aforenoted, Cejudo – who urged Dvalishvili to remain on stand-by for the title outing – claiming Sterling would likely withdraw from the New Jersey pay-per-view.

Sean O’Malley adamant he will fight for UFC championship in July

However, according to Sean O’Malley – the Dana White’s Contender Series alum remains hopeful and confident of securing his own championship fight this summer regardless of Cejudo’s denial.

“I will be fighting in July for a title,” Sean O’Malley tweeted

In the midst of a five-fight undefeated run, in between an official ‘No Contest’ against Pedro Munhoz, O’Malley landed consecutive stoppage wins over Thomas Almeida, Kris Moutinho, and Raulian Paiva.

In his sole professional loss, O’Malley suffered a first round TKO loss to surging division challenger and upcoming UFC Fight Night San Antonio headliner, Marlon Vera.

Sean O’Malley will be sticking with the UFC for many more years to come.

The No. 1 ranked bantamweight contender revealed on his YouTube channel that he recently signed a brand new eight-fight contract with the promotion. While he didn’t get everything he asked for, ‘Sugar’ received what he described as a “very gracious” contract.

“Even if I do fight Aljo next I don’t get pay-per-view points,” O’Malley revealed. “That was something I talked about in the negotiations. I tried to get it, you know, pay-per-view points not being the champ, didn’t fly, but I will say I did resign with the UFC,” he explained. “A very gracious contract that I’m proud of. I offered that, I asked for this, they said no, they said yes. I said well, they said huh, and I got a number that I’m very happy with. And I truly don’t think any manager that I had could have went in there and got me what I got.”

Sean O’Malley Eyeing Potential Fights With Aljamain Sterling or Henry Cejudo

With contract negotiations now taken care of, O’Malley can resume discussions regarding his next bout inside the Octagon. In October, ‘Sugar’ skyrocketed from outside the bantamweight division’s top-10 spot to the No. 1 with a closely contested split decision victory over former 135-pound champion Petr Yan. Since then, O’Malley has been itching to get back inside the cage with proposed fights against UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling or the returning Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo.

“It also helps the relationship I’ve built with the UFC,” O’Malley continued. “I feel like I have earned this contract. This is what I feel I’ve earned, the amount that I’m getting paid. And I think the UFC, I think they’re fine with paying people what they earn,” he said. “I feel like I’m in a good position with the UFC and I’m getting paid what I earn. I’m very happy with how the negotiations went” (h/t MiddleEasy).

With the exception of a first-round TKO loss to Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera in 2020, Sean O’Malley has practically walked through every fighter that has stood across from him. At UFC 280, ‘Sugar’ took a huge step up in competition against Petr Yan. O’Malley came out on top, though the victory did come with a pinch of controversy as many within the MMA community believe Yan did more than enough to earn the W.

Sean O'Malley Andrew Tate

Number-one ranked UFC bantamweight challenger, Sean O’Malley has shared his thoughts on the arrest and detaining of outspoken social commentator and influencer, Andrew Tate, after the American-born Briton was arrested on suspicion of alleged human trafficking and rape in Romania.

O’Malley, the current #1 ranked bantamweight contender, most recently featured on the main card of UFC 280 back in October of last year in Abu Dhabi, UAE against former undisputed division champion, Petr Yan – securing a close, split decision victory.

Yet to be booked for his Octagon return in the time since, O’Malley claims that he has been “guaranteed” a bantamweight title shot next, however, champion, Aljamain Sterling is currently targeted to feature against the returning, Henry Cejudo at UFC 287 in April in the division’s next title offing.

Sean O’Malley questions Andrew Tate’s arrest in Romania

Sharing his thoughts on Tate’s arrest in Romania – which the former claims has led to an investigation which has seen law enforcement unable to bring evidence to him in relation to the aforenoted charges, O’Malley claimed some women coming forward with allegations against the Luton-raised commenter may just like “rough sex”.

“There’s high – higher powers out there,” Sean O’Malley said on his podcast with coach, Tim Welch. “Like some of those girls could have liked rough sex. They like when you say ‘Rape me’  – or say, ‘You rape me’. Dude, girls are f*cking – when they’re horny and sexual like that, they can say some crazy sh*t. (I) heard it.”

“And then now it’s like, ‘Well, that was 10 years ago, well, maybe, he’s (Andrew Tate) kinda famous – he did rape me,’” Sean O’Malley explained.

With footage of his transportation from a Romania jail release earlier this week, Tate addressed the assembled media, claiming the “matrix” was the reason for his arrest

“The matrix is trying to frame me, but God knows the truth,” Andrew Tate said. “There’s no evidence in my file, ‘cause I’ve done nothing wrong. Everyone knows I’m innocent – it’s okay, everyone knows I’m innocent.
