UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley has spoken out for the first time since Casey Kenney made sexual and insensitive remarks about Megan Anderson during an appearance on his podcast.

During a January episode of “The Timbo Sugarshow”, Kenney was asked by O’Malley’s coach, Tim Welch, if he would “smash” Megan Anderson.

“Probably not, man,” Kenney replied while laughing. “She’s not too … well, I mean, if it came down to it, and it was like 5 a.m., 4, she’s a 5 a.m.-er, 4 a.m.-er. Just us two hanging out, like, ‘F*ck it, let’s do it.’”

Anderson took to social media to blast Kenney for his “utterly degrading” remarks.

“I guess MMA is a line of work where you can publicly talk about whether you’d have sex with a coworker in an utterly degrading way and face zero consequences,” Anderson wrote. “Disgusting behavior and it’s unfortunate that he’ll be fighting on my card in March.

Kenney has since apologized for his comments but O’Malley had stayed silent on the issue until a recent interview with Ariel Helwani.

“I think that’s just a … I mean, you can’t let … if someone … you can’t let someone else’s words affect how you feel emotionally,” O’Malley said about Megan Anderson. “If you said something about me, and I … I don’t know. It’s … I don’t know. I don’t know. She’s not a co-worker anymore. It is what it is.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

The former Invicta champion has seemly responded to O’Malleys comments with the below post on Twitter.

O’Malley is set to compete at UFC 260 this Saturday. ‘Suga’ will face Thomas Almeida.

It’s his first bout back since losing his undefeated record against Marlon Vera at UFC 252.

Do you think Sean O’Malley should’ve been more apologetic for his role in upsetting Megan Anderson?

The Sugar Show has been renewed for another season. Striking star Sean O’Malley is ready to bounce back against the once prominent prospect, Thomas Almeida at UFC 260 on March 27.

O’Malley would go on to his YouTube channel to release the breaking news.

O’Malley (12-1) is coming off his first and only professional loss to Marlon “Chito” Vera at UFC 252 last August. He was chopped down with leg kicks which led to a TKO stoppage for Vera. O’Malley believes he is mentally undefeated in his career despite the official verdict.

“Sugar” originally asked to fight Raoni Barcelos at UFC 256 last December. However, just as the team sent out the request it was revealed that Barcelos had just been booked against Merab Dvalishvili. Team Sugar was relieved that bout didn’t go through as O’Malley was still adjusting to having become a new father to his newborn child. He would later campaign for a return at UFC 258, which did not come into fruition. Suga Sean’s newest episode will air on March’s second Pay-Per-View at UFC 260.

On the other side of the cage, we have Thomas Almeida. Almeida came into the UFC in 2015 as a very promising 18-0 Bantamweight prospect, finishing all of his fights except for one. The surging Brazilian would continue to cruise against the competition, finishing 3 out of 4 opponents under the UFC banner.

The 2015 Breakout Star of the Year would go on to have his name in the marquee with his first UFC main event coming against another rising, undefeated star in Cody Garbrandt. When the lights shined the brightest, Almeida would be blinded by Garbrandt’s fierce power in no more than a round, suffering his first loss at the hands of the future Bantamweight king.

“Thominhas” would eventually boomerang back into the win column with a KO win of his own, against Albert Morales.

A year after experiencing his first KO loss to Garbrandt. The young prospect’s chin would once again be put up to the test when he faced off against top contender Jimmie Rivera and rising star Rob Font. Almeida would be dropped multiple times by these upstarts, falling short each time.

Almeida would once again taste defeat after being outpointed by Jonathan Martinez late last year. The former 22-0 star looks to put another diminished stamp on O’Malley record, giving him the second loss of his career.

Do you think Sean O’Malley will get back to winning ways at UFC 260?

Chase Hooper

Chase Hooper is proud to be “adopted” by his doppelganger and metaphorical father, Ben Askren.

What started as a joke on Twitter, comparing the appearances of the eventual father-son duo would turn out to make a funny relationship between the two UFC fighters.

Rising star Sean O’Malley would also be brought into the mix of memes as he shared the iconic curly brown hair with Askren and Hooper. However, “Suga” was not a fan of that spice. Perhaps, it was because Askren never got in touch on Father’s Day.

Two months later, Askren would give a harsh assessment of his ‘son’ O’Malley’s first-ever career loss. On the dawn of UFC 252, O’Malley was carried out on a stretcher out of the Octagon, having endured Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera’s barrage of leg kicks. Askren was embarrassed at the sight. “Funky” reminded the media that when he was on the receiving end of Jorge Masvidal’s record-breaking 5-second KO he did not need a stretcher to exit the cage.

O’Malley wasn’t fond of Askren’s post-fight comments:

“God, big Ben,” said O’Malley. “I thought you were smarter. I didn’t know you were stupid. It’s just stupid. If you ask the smartest person in the world, you smash their foot and you say, ‘Do you want to walk over there or do you want to be carted?’ They would take the cart.”

Ever since then, it is clear that O’Malley wants nothing to do with “The Askren Bunch.”

In an interview with MMA Island, Chase Hooper went into more detail why O’Malley (before the drama) never took on the curly-haired role in the first place.

“He’s like a young rebellious teen.” described Hooper. “[O’Malley] thinks he’s too cool for this type of thing.”

“I think people really have an idea for what they want people to see them as and he doesn’t want to have like a comedic side to things like that. He wants it to be like his own thing that he kind of comes up with and that his personality is about.”

“But, when I met him he was super cool. Pretty similar to myself, he’s a very quiet guy– He’s just really good at stand-up obviously. He’s good at the post-fight stuff, too.”

Do you think Sean O’Malley should embrace his role as part of The Askren Family as Chase Hooper has?
