Sean Strickland seemingly eyes more than just victories over his opponents. In the main event of UFC Vegas 33 this past Saturday night (July 31), Strickland shared the Octagon with Uriah Hall. This was a big opportunity for Strickland as he was just one spot shy of breaking in the UFC’s top 10 middleweight rankings. […]

It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have some controversial comments from a UFC fighter — especially Sean Strickland.
Strickland is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Uriah Hall in their UFC Vegas 33 headliner last night. As a result, Strickland made it five wins in a row and will undoubtedly be targeting a top-ranked opponent next.
However, his post-fight comments seem to have made more headlines.
After stating that he was addicted to pornography and that he’d probably be cooking meth in a trailer if he wasn’t a UFC fighter, Strickland stated what would make him happy in a fight.
“If you like to f*cking hurt people, you’re in the right sport,” Strickland said (via MMA Fighting). “I would love nothing more than to kill somebody in the ring. Nothing more. It would make me super happy.
“I would own that sh*t, too. I don’t know if it would make me liable, I might have to say I’m sorry if the cops came, but I would own that sh*t. Own it. Be a psychopath, it’s f*cking fun!”
Strickland also added the not-so-surprising comment that he would probably be one of the last fighters the UFC wanted to represent them as a champion.
“I’m probably the last person they want as the champion,” Strickland added. “‘So Sean what do you think about the UFC?’ I mean it’s cool, they pay me well, it’s cool. I’m the last one they probably want to be the champion.”
Strickland isn’t the first nor the last person to talk about wanting to kill someone inside the ring. Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder did the same as well.
But that doesn’t make it any less stupid or bizarre to say.

Sean Strickland is so ecstatic following his UFC Vegas 33 win that he’d fight Francis Ngannou … for the right price.
Of course, Strickland is simply having some fun following his dominant unanimous decision victory over Uriah Hall. Strickland and Hall shared the Octagon inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout headlined UFC Vegas 33. After five rounds of action, it was clear that Strickland got the better of Hall and he was awarded the unanimous decision victory.
Strickland appeared on the ESPN+ post-fight show following his victory over Hall. He said he’s more than happy as long as his paydays keep growing. On top of that, he even joked about taking on UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou.
“As long as my checks keep getting bigger and I keep getting paid I don’t care. I’ll fight Francis for the right dollar amount. He would knock me out but I would do it.”
Strickland has now extended his winning streak to five. Along the way, he’s beaten Hall, Krzysztof Jotko, Brendan Allen, Jack Marshman, and Nordine Taleb. He hasn’t suffered a loss since May 2018.
Going into the bout with Hall, Sean Strickland was the number 11-ranked UFC middleweight. Hall held the number eight spot. With Strickland’s victory, he’s pretty much guaranteed a spot in the top 10 UFC middleweight rankings.
Strickland has already unveiled how he would approach a bout with UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya during an exclusive interview with LowKickMMA.
“Adesanya, he’s one of the best strikers in the f—ing world, man,” he said. “He’s another guy that its like, you’re not going to go and outpoint Adesanya. You’re not going to go and out strike Adesanya. You have to go out there and f—ing fight him. Same with Uriah Hall. I’m not going to go out there and play tag with Uriah Hall. If I’m going to do that, he’s going to catch me. I’m going to go in there and fight Uriah Hall. I’m going to go in there and fight Adesanya.”
It’s now five consecutive victories for the #11 ranked, Sean ‘Tarzan’ Strickland who met with Uriah ‘Prime Time’ Hall at UFC Vegas 33. And with the help of a concise and composed gameplan, outstruck the dynamic kicker from pillar to post for five rounds. Strickland starting aggressively as expected early, closing distance and firing off shots each time Hall attempts to set up some shots of his own.
Continued pressure from Strickland who walks Hall down and sticks a very heavy jab into the Spanish Town native’s face. Some urgency from Hall toward the end of the first frame, however, Strickland’s pressure and output from the opening klaxon should see him lift that frame 10-9.
Another impressive opening couple of exchanges for Strickland who has managed to mitigate and stifle the striking of Hall with that jab and forward locomotion. An inadvertent leg kick from Strickland catches Hall on the cup resulting in a brief stoppage in the action. Wheel kick attempts goes close for Hall before the klaxon but that’s another 10-9 for Strickland.
Some real positive grappling from Strickland sees him trip a wilting Hall at the fence before assuming half guard and working to side-control.
Hall showing some urgency in the fourth in a quite positive round for him which includes some good Octagon control from the dynamic striker with Strickland’s output quite limited.
Hall likely in need of a finish in this fifth and final round. Strickland really poured on some pressure in the closing minute of the fourth, bloodying the striker.
More of the same in the fifth and final round as Strickland manages to evade winging hooks from Hall and impose that heavy and stiff jab up and until the final klaxon.
