UFC Middleweight Sean Strickland contender is still taking shots at Pat Barry and Rose Namajunas for their relationship that started when she was 18.

Barry and Namajunas are 13 years apart in age and they met each other when she was a teenager. Strickland has gone on the record saying that their relationship was weird. Barry had said that the comment Strickland had made before the fight messed with her mentality going into the fight. Barry and Namajunas are engaged and soon to be married, but Strickland has come out to say that everything he said was true and he wasn’t in the wrong.

The quote that Barry is referring to was when Strickland compared the two coaches to Harvey Weinstein. “Is Jim West and Pat Berry (sic) the Weinstine of MMA? Or is Michael Jackson a better comparison…@netflix is currently contacting @TheAspenLadd and @rosenamajunas for a TV series lol!!!!! OK, I’m done gotta spar..”

“Here’s the thing guys 99 percent of what I say is usually wrong.. This is not that time.. @rosenamajunas@TheAspenLadd like my post if you need help. I’ll treat Pat Berry and Jim West like they treat minor.. Without consent, although it won’t be behind closed doors lmao!”

Sean Strickland has taken to Twitter to call out Pat Barry and even went on to say that he groomed Namajunas

“Do you understand what fucking grooming means?… I’m just stating the facts that he groomed Rose Namajunas and you (Matt Mitrione) defending him you f*cking loser. Why don’t we check what’s on your laptop? And Jim West, you’re the same f*cking weirdo. I don’t understand why nobody talks about you, but we all know what you’re doing.” Strickland said in a video he posted to Twitter.

Pat Barry Claims Sean Strickland’s Allegations May Have Led To ‘Emotional’ Rose Namajunas Loss At UFC 274

Pat Barry, a former UFC heavyweight contender, has claimed that recent comments made by outspoken middleweight contender, Sean Strickland regarding Barry’s relationship with his partner, former two-time strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas – may have led to an emotional performance against Carla Esparza at UFC 274.

Co-headlining UFC 274 last weekend, Namajunas suffered a split decision loss to inaugural strawweight queen, Esparza, suffering her second career defeat to the Torrance native as she became a two-time division champion.

Following the more than forgettable rematch showdown, Namajunas, as well as he corner consisting of leads, Trevor Wittman, and the aforenoted, Barry received criticism for their less than active gameplan, resulting in her split decision loss.

Pat Barry and co were criticized for informing Rose Namajunas that she was likely winning at UFC 274

Namajunas maintained that she should have left Phoenix, Arizona with her championship in tow, claiming that she had employed a defensive gameplan which mitigated any real offensive work from challenger, Esparza.

Commenting on his fiancé’s defeat, Barry, who most recently competed in the UFC back in December 2013, attempted to set the story straight on recent comments made by the above mentioned, Strickland and other social media users regarding his relationship with Namajunas.

“This whole Sean Strickland thing that is all over the place, everywhere – years ago, Rose (Namajunas) did an interview and said, ‘I joined Roufusport when I was 14 years old, and then I left Roufusport for a few years,’” Pat Barry said on The MMA Hour. “Then I came back to Roufusport, to pursue my MMA career, and that’s where I met my fiancé, Pat Barry.’ When the guy wrote the interview up, he wrote, ‘Rose Namajunas joined Roufusport when she was 14 years old, where she met her fiance, Pat Barry, when she was 14 years old.”

“That’s where everyone is getting this sh*t from – a botched interview,” Pat Barry explained. “That’s where everyone is gettin all that from because someone decided to write it that way. It must’ve seemed credible and they just run with it. It’s those type of things everywhere that cause Rose to get into the fight with Carla, and be emotional.” (Transcribed by BJPENN)

Pat Barry and Rose Namajunas appeared on Wednesday’s installment of The MMA Hour, and one of the topics addressed was Sean Strickland’s volatile remarks about their relationship.

Last month, Sean Strickland took to Twitter to bash the relationships of two coach-fighter relationships in the UFC.

First, he took aim at the relationship between female bantamweight Aspen Ladd and Jim West, with Strickland alleging that West has groomed Ladd since the age of 12. He also made the same accusation toward Pat Barry, the head coach and fiancé of former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas.

Similar to his criticisms of West, Strickland accused Barry of grooming Namajunas from a young age based on previous reports that Namajunas met Barry at the age of 14 while Barry was 27. Strickland’s shots at Barry were not a one-off, as he posted multiple tweets both poking fun at their relationship while also expressing disdain for Barry.

Barry: Those Who Matter Understand Our Relationship

In Barry’s and Namajunas’ joint appearance on The MMA Hour, the topic of their relationship arose. Barry conflated Strickland’s remarks with all the other outside distractions found on social media that Namajunas and her team were intent on avoiding.

Barry stated that Strickland and the other critics of their relationship are making judgments based on what he described as an ill-written and erroneous article that first reported on the timeline of the relationship. He compared this article to the initial article from the interview Namajunas had prior to her first fight against Zhang Weili, where he claims Namajunas’ “better dead than red” remarks were taken out of context.

While it is unclear which article first reported on the relationship between Barry & Namajunas, they are secure in knowing that those closest to them know the truth, and that’s all that matters.

“It used to be a moment. Like, ‘Where is all this shit coming from? Where is all this hate coming from?’ And then we found — just like the ‘dead vs. red’ that got spun out of control — we found the article…” Barry said with Namajunas in the background. “We know that everyone out there is going off of something that’s not right.

“And there’s no point in trying to go and correct everyone and try to get the word out there … Bruh, that’s pointless. The people that know us know — like her mom and her family, my mom, my family, her grandmothers — like, the people who know us know.”

Barry would go on to say that he isn’t taking Strickland’s comment seriously because Strickland’s gonna Strickland. In fact, he claims that Strickland has always been friendly toward him and Namajunas.

“Sean Strickland and I, we’re actually kind of cool. We’re actually kind of friends. Bro, every time we see him, we laugh and joke with this dude all the time. We were on the bus and hanging with this dude all the time.”

During Barry’s remarks, Namajunas was in the background co-signing what her partner had to say about this sensitive topic.

It is unclear when Barry & Namajunas will officially tie the knot, but the two appear to be as solid as ever, despite outside criticisms. As for Strickland, he is not ruling out the idea of someday dating adult film star Karma RX after she retires from the industry and settles into a more conventional lifestyle.

UFC middleweight contender Sean Strickland doubled down on his comments regarding Kayla Harrison as he issued an apology for the PFL.

Not one to be known for his shy nature, Sean Strickland has landed himself in numerous controversies. Strickland had criticized the Professional Fighter’s League (PFL) in the past for lacking quality talent as he trashed their biggest star, Kayla Harrison.

Harrison took on Mokhnatkina at PFL 3 in Arlington, Texas this past weekend. Considered by many to be a candidate for the greatest female fighter of all time, the 31-year-old seemed to struggle in her latest outing. While she didn’t finish her opponent, she was able to snatch a win by unanimous decision.

Following her suboptimal showing on May 6, Sean Strickland took to Twitter to bash Harrison.

“Watching @KaylaH struggle with this low level girl just reminds me why shes not in the UFC. Stay in the PFL take your easy Ws in the scrub league…”

Strickland followed up with another message apologizing for his past comments about the PFL but rebuked Harrison again.

“I miss spoke about the PFL… I think Kayla is a glorified can crusher and the women’s league in the PFL needs some work… but there is some warriors in all other weight classes. The pfl needs to work harder in their female fighter roster.”

Harrison comments on her performance

Kayla was not happy with the way she managed to win the contest. In the post-fight press conference for PFL 3, Harrison shared her thoughts on a disappointing showing in the cage.

“I think it (my performance) was utter dog crap. Sorry to the fans. I wanted to put on a better show for all of you. These girls are tougher than you think. I make it look easy sometimes, but other nights not so much.” (h/t BJPenn)

Only three of Harrison’s 13 wins have been by decision. Kayla developed a reputation for dominating her opponents as she continues undefeated in her professional career. There were talks of her moving to the UFC to face higher-level competition but it fizzled out after she signed an extended deal with the PFL that has her locked down for another seven years.

As for Strickland, he’ll be looking to extend his win streak to seven when he takes on Alex Pereira at UFC 276.

Sean Strickland has disparaged the nature of Aspen Ladd’s relationship with her head coach Jim West, as well as Rose Namajunas’ relationship with her coach Pat Barry.

Not one to be known for his diplomacy, Strickland has built a reputation for himself as a no holds barred barbarian. From porn stars, road rage, and streetfighting challenges, to homophobia, the top ranked middleweight has shared his thoughts on each topic including the personal relationships of fellow fighters, Aspen Ladd and Rose Namajunas.

UFC women’s bantamweight Ladd faced heat from certain fans for her relationship with coach Jim West after he lambasted Ladd between rounds in an unsuccessful effort against Norma Dumont last year at UFC Vegas 40. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate spoke out against what she believed to be “abusive” treatment towards Ladd, who later defended her coach and dismissed Tate’s comments as attention-seeking.

While there have been no further developments regarding Ladd’s relationship with West since he apologized for his behavior, Strickland revisited the topic with his opinion surrounding the controversy.

“Sooooooooooo I’m pretty sure @TheAspenLadd is suffering from Stockholm syndrome…….. lmao!!!!!!!!I didn’t really care about the corner
video but when you add some other facts to the situation it’s a little fucking creepy lmao!!!”

He posted a follow-up tweet after the initial post to give more insight into his opinion.

“Women are very easy targets for male coaches, automatically assume weird father role which turns into a hero worship complex. The fact you started to train with him at what 12? 100 percent grooming sexual predator. Tell me my facts are wrong and I’ll apologize now. @TheAspenLadd

Sean Strickland weighs in on Namajunas’ relationship with her coach

After taking shots at Aspen Ladd and her relationship with her head coach Jim West, Strickland dragged in the relationship of current UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas with coach Pat Barry. Namajunas has endeared herself with the fans through an inspiring journey in the octagon that saw her become a two-time champion.

While Rose’s main MMA coach is the highly renowned Trevor Wittman, it’s her relationship with longtime partner Pat Barry that draws the wrong kind of attention given the 13-year age gap between her and the former UFC fighter and kickboxer Barry. She was 14 years old when she reportedly met Barry, who was 27 years old at the time.

“Is Jim West and Pat Berry (sic) the Weinstine of MMA? Or is Michael Jackson a better comparison…@netflix is currently contacting @TheAspenLadd and @rosenamajunas for a TV series lol!!!!! OK, I’m done gotta spar..”

Strickland ended the series of tweets with an indication to go and practice for his upcoming bout against Alex Pereira at UFC 277. Pereira holds two wins over the current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in kickboxing and remains the only man to knock out ‘Stylebender’. With the history between the two, Strickland expects to get a title shot if he beats Pereira at the end of July in what many consider to be a top contender contest.

Sean Strickland has taken more shots at the coaches/significant others of Rose Namajunas and Aspen Ladd.

UFC women’s bantamweight Aspen Ladd’s relationship with her coach Jim West went under public scrutiny last year when West chewed out Ladd between rounds of her loss to Norma Dumont last year at UFC Vegas 40. His tone was considered so harsh that many people spoke out against West’s treatment of Ladd, including Miesha Tate.

Tate said that she was speaking from her own personal experience of what it can be like in a relationship with a coach/trainer and that she can recognize the signs of abuse. Ladd dismissed Tate’s comments as attention-seeking and later said that she’d be willing to fight Tate for free.

There have been no further stories regarding Ladd’s & West’s relationship since West apologized for his conduct in Ladd’s corner last October. Nevertheless, Strickland was inspired to send out the following tweet Thursday.

“Sooooooooooo I’m pretty sure @TheAspenLadd is suffering from Stockholm syndrome…….. lmao!!!!!!!!I didn’t really care about the corner
video but when you add some other facts to the situation it’s a little fucking creepy lmao!!!”

Strickland would then post a follow-up tweet to lend more insight into the information that prompted his initial tweet.

“Women are very easy targets for male coaches, automatically assume weird father role which turns into a hero worship complex. The fact you started to train with him at what 12? 100 percent grooming sexual predator. Tell me my facts are wrong and I’ll apologize now. @TheAspenLadd

Strickland would close by also referencing Rose Namajunas’ relationship with Barry. The couple has a 13-year age gap between them and reportedly met when Namajunas was 14 years old and Barry was 27.

“Is Jim West and Pat Berry (sic) the Weinstine of MMA? Or is Michael Jackson a better comparison…@netflix is currently contacting @TheAspenLadd and @rosenamajunas for a TV series lol!!!!! OK, I’m done gotta spar..” Strickland concluded.

Update: Sean Strickland Doubles Down On “Predator” Criticisms

Strickland has not let up on his criticisms of Barry and West. This week, he made Barry the primary focus of his vitriol.

“This showed up on my Twitter feed… Looks like they met on Jeffery Epsteins island…. Bro you been on the Lolita express?!? @HypeOrDie

“OK I’m done making fun of Pat the PREDATOR Barry. Rose followed me on IG once so naturally I slid in her DM’s. I didn’t know she had a umm what would you call him?? A groomer? Idk either way I won’t touch this again, hopefully Pat will do the same when he’s around children..”

Strickland would then make it clear that he has not forgotten about Jim West.

“Age really is just a number. @gloverteixeira didn’t let the doubters put him down when he won the belt at 42. “Too old” “washed up” And don’t forget JIM WEST and Aspan “Jim she’s 14” “Jim you’re going to go to prison” “Jim you can’t groom a child” Way to beat the odds Jim.”

Ladd is coming off a second consecutive loss, this time to Raquel Pennington who defeated Ladd at UFC 273 via unanimous decision. This made for the third defeat in four fights for the 27-year-old.

Rose Namajunas will be competing at this weekend’s UFC 274 when she puts her strawweight title on the line against Carla Esparza. Neither Namajunas, Ladd, nor their coaches/partners have directly addressed Strickland’s remarks.

In Namajunas’ case, she may very well be unaware of Strickland’s comments seeing as how she goes out of her way to stay off of social media whenever possible. This week, in particular, it could serve as an unneeded distraction for her.

As for Strickland, he has enough to worry about with his professional life, as he will be taking on rising hype train Alex Pereira this July at UFC 277 in a bout that many believe could serve as a middleweight title eliminator.
