Just a day after Shark Fights announced King of the Cage vet Mark Martinez (4-0) as the opponent for WWE star Bobby Lashley (6-1), the Texas based the promotion has had to find yet another fighter to step into the cage against Lashley.

On Tuesday, Shark Fights was informed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that Mark Martinez was unable to compete at the Nov. 11 event due to expired blood work.

Stepping in as Lashley’s fourth opponent for the Shark Fights title will be Karl Knothe (17-5).

Shark Fights 21 is scheduled to take place this Friday, Nov. 11, at Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas. The event will air on FUEL TV via tape delay on Dec. 23.

Knothe replaces Martinez, who replaced Dave Huckaba, who replaced former Shark Fights champ Darrill Schoonover. To add to all of that, there was a mysterious Tweet that had named Canadian heavyweight Tim Hague as Schoonover’s replacement but was quickly denied by the promotion.

“Karl has wanted to fight Bobby Lashley for a while,” noted Knothe’s manager, Gavin Rydell. “He’s had some offers before to fight Bobby, but it always fell apart. Karl is excited that not only does he get to fight Bobby Lashley, but it’s also for the Shark Fights Heavyweight Title.”

Knothe is listed as a light-heavyweight fighter who is currently on a twelve-fight win streak, but has yet to fight in 2011. ‘The Original Son of Punishment’ has earned eight wins by (T)KO, eleven by submission, and one by decision over his career.

If Knothe and Lashley do meet in the cage, it will mark the second straight fight that the WWE star has faced an opponent who normally competes at 205 lbs.

The Shark Fights promotion has now signed a third opponent to face former WWE star Bobby Lashley (6-1) for the main event of this Friday’s Shark Fights 21 event.

Stepping in on less than a weeks notice, according to MMAjunkie.com, will be heavyweight Mark Martinez (4-1) who meets Lashley for the Shark Fights heavyweight title at the upcoming Texas event.

Shark Fights 21 is set to take place this Friday, Nov. 11, at the Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas. The event will air via-tape delay on Dec. 23 on FUEL TV.

Lashley was originally scheduled to face former champ Darrill Schoonover, but an injury forced the former TUF 10 fighter off the card. The promotion stripped Schoonover of the title and named Dave Huckaba as Lashley’s opponent for the now vacant title. Just this past weekend, Huckaba too pulled out of the event due to undisclosed reasons.

Lashley earned a unanimous decision victory over John Ott last March in the headliner for Titan Fighting Championship 17. That win put the former pro-wrestler back in the win column after losing to Chad Griggs at Strikeforce: Houston in August 2010.

Martinez has won four straight, earning two of this wins in 2011. His last match took place under the KOTC banner last April, earning a second round knockout victory over Josh Luna at the Texas show. So far Martinez has one KO victory, two submission, and one split decision win in his career.

Lashley had been scheduled to face Dave ‘Bad Man’ Huckaba (16-4) on Nov. 11 in a Shark Fights heavyweight title match, but MMAjunkie.com has learned that Huckaba has withdrawn for “undisclosed reasons.”

Originally, Lashley was to have fought former Shark Fight champ Darrill Schoonover for his title, but Schoonover was forced out due to injury and subsequently stripped of the belt.

A mysterious Tweet from the promotion had named Canadian Tim Hague as his opponent, but was quickly denied by Shark Fights officials. Shortly afterwards they named Huckaba as Lashley’s official opponent, but it seems now that they will have to go through the whole process again.

Shark Fights 21 is scheduled to take place on Nov. 11 at the Fair Park Coliseium in Lubbock, Texas with the main card airing on tape delay on FUEL TV on Dec. 23.

On Monday, a mysterious Tweet had named Canadian Tim Hague as a replacement for the injured Shark Fights heavyweight champ Darrill Schoonover. The promotion was quick to deny the Tweet, which was removed, saying they were unsure of who had sent it.

It appears that the Shark Fights promotion does have a replacement now for Schoonover, as Dave ‘Bad Man’ Huckaba (16-4) appears set to face former WWE star Bobby Lashley (6-1) in the main event of the upcoming Shark Fights 21 event.

On Tuesday, MMAjunkie.com spoke to manager Leland LaBarre who confirmed with them that both Lashley and Huckaba would be facing each other at the November event, and that the Shark Fights title would be on the line.

Schoonover had been the champion, but was stripped of the title this past weekend by Shark Fights CEO Bud Brutsman.

Huckaba will likely prove to be Lashley’s toughest opponent, having won five straight and thirteen victories by (T)KO. The ‘Bad Man’ was last in action in August at the Shark Fights 18 show, earning a unanimous decision over Ruben Villareal. That bout was the first time Huckaba had fought for a full three rounds.

Lashley had been scheduled to fight this past July against Eddie Sanchez at the Titan FC 19 event, but withdrew over personal reasons. The former pro-wrestling star has his last mma match in March, earning a unanimous decision over an overmatched John Ott at the Titan FC 17 event in Kansas.

On Monday, someone from the Shark Fights promotion announced a replacement fighter for injured heavyweight champ Darrill Schoonover for the upcoming Shark Fights 21 event.

Schoonover, who suffered a shoulder injury, had been scheduled to face former WWE star Bobby Lashley (6-1) in a heavyweight title bout. A Tweet from the promotion earlier in the day announced former UFC vet Tim ‘The Thrashing Machine’ Hague (13-5) as Schoonover’s replacement, but promotion officials were quick to squash the news saying

MMAjunkie.com spoke to Shark Fights CEO Bud Brutsman who told them “It’s not Tim Hague, we haven’t even signed him.”

Brutsman also told the website that Schoonover had been stripped of the Shark Fights title, and that the Lashley vs. TBA bout will be for the heavyweight belt.

Shark Fights 21 is scheduled to take place on November 11th at the Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas. The event will air via tape delay on FUEL TV on December 23rd.

Lashley had been scheduled to fight this past July against Eddie Sanchez at the Titan FC 19 event, but withdrew due to personal reasons. The former pro-wrestling stars last mma match took place in March, earning a unanimous decision over John Ott at the Titan FC 17 event in Kansas. The victory erased Lashley’s first career loss, after a TKO (corner stoppage) against Chad Griggs at the Strikeforce: Houston event last summer.

Hague is a former UFC vet with five Octagon appearances to his name, but just a 1-4 record in those five appearances. ‘The Thrashing Machine’ last fought for the UFC last January at the Fight for the Troops 2 event, losing by first round TKO to Matt Mitrione.

Mark Your Calenders: Bobby Lashley vs. Darrill Schoonover at Shark Fights on Nov. 11

(So close to validation, yet soooo far away…)

Former/possibly current professional wrestler Bobby Lashley returns to mixed martial arts action this November, taking on TUF 10 alum Darrill “The Boss” Schoonover for the Shark Fights Heavyweight title.

Since making his MMA debut in 2008, Lashley has put together a 6-1 record with notable wins over Bob Sapp, Jason Guida, and Wes Sims. Lashley’s hype train was derailed by Chad Griggs at Stikeforce: Houston however, where after a moderately successful first round, “The Dominator” gassed in the second and was unable to answer the third round bell. Lashley has since picked up a unanimous decision victory over journeyman John Ott at Titan Fighting Championships 17.

Lashley has since picked up a unanimous decision victory over journeyman John Ott at Titan Fighting Championships 17.

Current Shark Fights heavyweight champ Darrill Schoonover made his name as the focus of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s verbal assault on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, so much so that he even challenged the former UFC light heavyweight champ to a fight after the show was over. What a mistake that would’ve been. Though Schoonover won his first fight on the show by choking Zak Jensen to sleep with a triangle, the man known as “Titties” ran out of steam in the quarterfinals, where he was knocked out by Marcus “Big Baby” Jones. Schoonover’s lone shot in the octagon was equally devastating, where he suffered a third round TKO loss at the hands of fellow cast mate James McSweeney at the TUF 10 Finale

One thing of note: After winning the title in 2009, Schoonover was called up to The Ultimate Fighter, and has yet to defend it. In the time since, he has compiled a less than stellar 1-5 record in various smaller promotions, most recently TKO’ing Adam Padilla in July.
