Two undefeated welterweight contenders Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry are set to face off on December 7, 2024, at UFC 310 in a five-round title eliminator. ‘The Future’ Garry broke down why he is so excited for this matchup while in Thailand.

Since joining the UFC, Garry has maintained an impressive undefeated streak. As of November 2024, he holds a professional record of 15 wins with no losses. In the UFC, he has fought eight times and won all his bouts. The Irish striker has a quality pull counter. Some notable victories include wins over opponents like Neil Magny, Daniel Rodriguez, and Michael ‘Venom’ Page.

The Kazakhstani mixed martial artist Shavkat Rakhmonov has made a significant impact in the UFC’s welterweight division with his undefeated record. Rakhmonov has developed a reputation for his relentless skills in both striking and grappling. Since making his UFC debut in 2020, he has maintained a perfect professional record of 18 wins and no losses, with an impressive 10 victories by submission and 8 by knockout.

The Irish athlete Ian Machado Garry discussed the Shavkat Rakhmonov on his YouTube channel. He said:

“I want people to say, ‘This guy will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime.’ A perfect example—give me the boogeyman of the welterweight division, and I’ll stand in there on three weeks’ notice and find a way to beat him.

“Can I be the guy to defeat Shavkat? Find out when it happens, baby. He’s been looking at me for seven or eight months. I signed to fight the baddest man in the division, and he comes out of the shadows.

“Honestly, I’ve been pushing for the Shavkat fight. I wanted undefeated vs. undefeated.”

The upcoming UFC 310 co-main event between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry is shaping up to be an exciting clash of undefeated welterweight athletes. Live from Las Vegas on December 7, this will be a five round title eliminator.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Machado Garry

‘Nomad’ Shavkat Rakhmonov enters the fight with an impressive 18-0 record, including six consecutive UFC wins, all by stoppage. Ireland’s Ian Machado Garry brings a perfect 15-0 record to the Octagon, with eight of those victories coming in the UFC. According to the latest betting lines, Rakhmonov is listed as a -300 favorite, while Garry comes in as a +240 underdog. This means that bookmakers and oddsmakers view Rakhmonov as the more likely winner of the bout. It would be best to play the odds with Thunderpick that allows Crypro usage.

These odds reflect the impressive track record of both fighters, but particularly Rakhmonov’s finishing ability and dominant performances in the UFC. However, it’s worth noting that the odds have shifted since the initial opening lines. Earlier reports indicated that Rakhmonov opened as a +235 favorite, with Garry as a -290 underdog. This shift suggests that bettors have been putting more money on Rakhmonov as the fight approaches, further solidifying his position as the favorite.

Despite the odds favoring Shavkat Rakhmonov, some analysts believe that Garry might surprise people in this fight. The underdog status could potentially work in Garry’s favor, as he may employ a strategy to slow down the pace and make the fight less predictable. This perspective has led some to consider Garry as a viable underdog bet expecially over five rounds.

The Kazakh fighter is renowned for his finishing ability, with a mix of submissions and knockouts on his resume. Garry, a former Cage Warriors Welterweight Champion, has shown a more methodical approach in recent fights, winning his last three bouts by decision.

Rakhmonov’s background includes a strong base in combat sambo, which contributes to his well-rounded fighting style and finishing ability both on the feet and on the ground. Garry started his martial arts journey at a young age, inspired by the success of fellow Irishman Conor McGregor. He began boxing at 10 and later expanded his skillset to include judo, in which he earned a black belt by the age of 18. Garry’s amateur MMA career began shortly after he turned 19.

The stakes are high for this matchup, as the winner is likely to secure a shot at the welterweight title currently held by Belal Muhammad. Originally, Shavkat Rakhmonov was scheduled to face Muhammad for the championship, but an injury to the champion led to this matchup with Garry. Both fighters bring unique styles to the cage. Rakhmonov is known for his aggressive, finish-oriented approach, while Garry has demonstrated strong grappling and clinch skills plus a tactical striking game. Most notably, he has a solid pull-counter.

This five-round co-main event promises to be a compelling contest between two of the division’s top prospects. Shavkat Rakhmonov enters as the favorite, but Garry’s undefeated record and recent performances suggest he shouldn’t be underestimated. The clash of styles and the potential for a title shot make this a must-watch fight for MMA fans, as only one undefeated streak will survive this high-stakes welterweight showdown.

Laura Sanko Gets Chills from UFC Talent Shavkat Rakhmonov

Laura Sanko’s admiration for undefeated finisher Shavkat Rakhmonov has been one of the more entertaining stories to come out of the UFC in recent years.

It all started during the UFC 279 weigh-in show when Sanko exclaimed that the ‘Nomad’ gave her chills. More than her words, it was the delivery of said declaration that got everyone’s attention.

Things really started to heat up a few months later ahead of UFC 285 when Sanko appeared on the weigh-in show sporting a Kazakh Hat similar to the one Rakhomov wears to the Octagon. As Sanko curiously stroked the tail of the headwear and sang Rakhmonov’s praises, fans online went crazy, and an entire country instantly followed Sanko on Instagram.

Asked about Sanko’s comments during the UFC 285 media day, Rakhmonov acknowledged that he had seen the clip and found it quite humorous.

“Yes, of course. I saw that video,” Rakhmonov said through a translator when asked about the viral clip. “What can I say? As a man, you always like when a woman adores you. So…”

Sanko eventually did attempt to quell the rumors of her manufactured courtship with the welterweight star.

“Can we please address this? I don’t have a crush on the man. I like his fighting style,” Sanko said as she felt forced to clear the air. “An entire country thinks I do and I need to correct the record. Still a fan, I just don’t have a crush. The entire country of Kazakhstan is very excited about it because I got like 20,000 new followers after that day. No, I have a husband.”

Of course, that did little to kill the narrative that was already sweeping across social media.

Laura Sanko Admits She still gets chills from shavkat rakhmonov — and nothing else

Recently, Gabriel Gonzalez — the same MMA reporter who asked ‘Nomad’ about Sanko’s comments in March 2023 — caught up with the UFC color commentator and offered up an apology for his role in perpetuating the rumors.

“I almost forgot that you were responsible for that,” Sanko told Gonzalez. “You ask one question and the whole world lights on fire. I don’t know that you owe me an apology. You don’t owe me an apology. But it was certainly, um, it was really blown out of proportion. But that’s okay — I got quite a bit of Instagram following off of it.

“And I will say this: the Kazakh fans are absolutely amazing, and I’ve kind of fallen in love with this idea of Kazakhstan and its craziness for anything Shavkat-related.”

Though things may have gotten a little blown out of proportion — as Sanko stated — the former fighter admits to still getting chills when Rakhmonov puts his skills on display inside the Octagon, and she’s certainly not the only one.

“The internet — I’m not the only one that’s getting chills, guys. I’m not the only one that’s getting chills.”

Fortunately, Sanko and Rakhmonov’s home country won’t have to wait long to see ‘Nomad’ back in action. On Saturday, December 7, the 18-0 sensation returns to action for a potential welterweight title eliminator against fast-rising Irish star Ian Machado Garry at UFC 310 in Las Vegas.

The co-main event of UFC 310 next month may be a replacement match-up but as far as a stand-in fights go, they don’t get much better than this one. One undefeated streak will come to an end in Las Vegas as Shavkat Rakhmonov faces Ian Machado Garry over five rounds.

Though there isn’t an interim title on the line following Belal Muhammad’s withdrawal from the card like many expected there would be, both men know what is at stake in this top level clash in the welterweight division. In fact, the two competitors also know a bit about each other already due to the period of time where they were both training out of Kill Cliff FC in Florida.

Following the fight announcement, a video of the opponents sparring some light rounds with one another went out on social media and though there wasn’t much to gain from this footage, it did show that both men have squared off in the past.

As a result, UFC analyst and fellow welterweight contender Michael Chiesa believes that this familiarity will show in the fight. He spoke in a recent interview with Sportskeeda about his thoughts on the bout that will take place the same night as his return against Max Griffin.

Chiesa believes that the element of surprise could decide this fight because of how skilled both fighters are as well as the element of already experiencing each other’s games first-hand.

“I’ll keep it short. There’s some sparring footage that came out of Ian Garry and Shavkat. I think that they’re both gonna be very familiar with each other and I will go out on a limb and say I think this fight goes to a decision. I think these guys are familiar with each other enough to where they’re going to negate a few of the attacks and it’s going to be a matter of who can come in there and throw a new wrinkle into their game to throw off the opponent.”

UFC 309 is in the books, meaning attention will soon turn to the mixed martial arts leader’s next pay-per-view offering, UFC 310 in Las Vegas. UFC 309 is in the books, meaning attention will soon turn to the mixed martial arts leader’s next pay-per-view offering, UFC 310 in Las Vegas.

The promotion was in New York City last week, where the iconic Madison Square Garden played host to a number of intriguing matchups for its latest major card in “The Big Apple.” Of note were headline wins for Jon Jones and Charles Oliveira, as well as important victories for Bo Nickal, Viviane Araújo, and Mauricio Ruffy.

While the aftermath of the Nov. 16 card is currently the talk of the town, it won’t be long until focus sways to the next PPV, and from the heavyweight title picture to the flyweight championship conversation.

At UFC 310, set for the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 7, reigning kingpin Alexandre Pantoja will compete for the second time this year, once again in defense of his 125-pound gold. After following his crowning against Brandon Moreno with retentions opposite Brandon Royval and Steve Erceg, “The Cannibal” will next face a newcomer in the form of ex-Rizin champion Kai Asakura.

Stakes will also be high in the co-headliner, as Shavkat Rakhmonov looks to defend his spot as next in line for a shot at Belal Muhammad following the welterweight titleholder’s withdrawal due to injury. The replacement fight will see “Nomad” face a fellow undefeated contender in Ireland’s Ian Garry.

Gane, Mitchell, Landwehr Set The Stage For High-Profile Headliners At UFC 310

Before Pantoja defends his belt and Rakhmonov meets the challenge of “The Future,” a number of other notable names will take to the Octagon looking to make the most of their position on the major UFC 310 card.

That includes former interim heavyweight titleholder Ciryl Gane. Having not competed since knocking out Serghei Spivac in Paris last year, the Frenchman will return after 15 months to once again collide with Alexander Volkov. “Drago” finds himself with a chance for redemption against “Bon Gamin” after rising to #3 in the division courtesy of his triumph over Sergei Pavlovich in Saudi Arabia this past June.

Prior to that, ranked featherweight Bryce Mitchell will also get his sole outing of 2024 and first fight since being brutally slept by Josh Emmett at last year’s final pay-per-view. To bounce back, “Thug Nasty” is tasked with defending his spot on the ladder opposite a fellow grappling specialist in Kron Gracie. The 36-year-old returned from a near-four-year layoff in May 2023 but disappointed in defeat versus Charles Jourdain. After another lengthy layoff, he’ll hope to record his first win since 2019 at the expense of Mitchell.

And opening the UFC 310 main card will be a sure-fire firefight between Nate Landwehr and Dooho Choi. “The Train” will enter the event off the back of a KO victory over Jamall Emmers this past March, while “The Korean Superboy” — who sits as part of the UFC Hall of Fame Fight Wing owing to his 2016 war with Cub Swanson — rebounded from a four-fight winless run by stopping Bill Algeo in July for his first triumph in eight years.

Those pairings have gotten the nod to feature on the main card over the crucial featherweight contest between the #5-ranked Movsar Evloev and former bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling, which is currently slated to be the penultimate prelim.
