If you got all of the answers you would have gotten 22 right. Worth noting is that not one person got all 22 and most (who were frontrunners up until we received the winning entry last night) topped out at 17. Many forgot to mention Sensei Seagal since most don’t consider him an MMA personality and the majority didn’t catch the background “bonus” characters in the Sons of Anarchy and Shootfighter 2 clips. A few, who are likely kicking themselves today, incorrectly stated that the clip with Joe Son was from Shootfighter, NOT Shootfighter 2.

We’d like to say thanks to Hayabusa for offering us such a great prize and to everyone for entering. Unfortunately there can only be one grand prize winner.

As a consolation prize we will be sending the runners up one of our coveted Cage Potato “Devil Horns” or “Hall of Fame” shirts. If your name is called, send us your shipping info and shirt size at [email protected]: Blakethoria, John Hernandez, Noah Kalkstein, Miles Ravitz, Chris Reid and Justin Williams.

And the big winner, and a true expert of Googling obscure MMA cameos is…. Michael Jones. Shoot us your shipping address and size and we’ll get your prize out to you.

King of the Cage Announcer Christopher “Big Poppa” Schnake dead at 37

Continuing the trend of mind boggling losses to the MMA world, multiple reports have confirmed that veteran King of the Cage announcer and radio personality Christopher “Big Poppa” Schnake passed away Monday, just days after announcing for King of the Cage: Kingpin on Saturday night. The news was broken by Schnake’s close friend and business partner “Victory Jay”.

Reports say that “Big Poppa” pulled over at a rest stop on his drive home and passed away in his car. According to Jay, Schnake had mentioned that he needed to “get his diabetes under control” in a phone conversation shortly after collapsing mid show at “Kingpin”, but that his death was shocking nonetheless.

According to Jay, Schnake had mentioned that he needed to “get his diabetes under control” in a phone conversation shortly after collapsing mid show at “Kingpin”, but that his death was shocking nonetheless.

Besides being the energetic voice behind the King of the Cage promotion, Schnake was also an entrepreneur, who along with Jay started Cagetix, an online Ticketmaster-type business that more efficiently allowed fans of local and upstart MMA shows access to tickets. Cagetix even went as far as to provide a portion of the ticket sales to struggling fighters in return for generating traffic for the site. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

Stout Out, Cerrone in Against Siver at UFC 137

(Should be a decent scrap.)

MMAJunkie is reporting that Donald Cerrone (16-3) has agreed to step in for Sam Stout against Dennis Siver (19-7) at UFC 137 October 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Although it is unclear whether or not Stout is injured, it could simply be a case of the Canadian lightweight standout needing more time to deal with the sudden passing of his best friend, brother-in-law, mentor and trainer Shawn Tompkins earlier this month before fighting his first bout without “The Coach” in his corner.

Stout’s teammate Chris Horodecki backed out of a scheduled September bout in Canada last week as well and is rumored to be having a tough time dealing with the loss of Tompkins who was like a father figure to the young fighter.

The bout will be the fourth this year for Cerrone who is 5-0 in his last five outings, including three inside the UFC Octagon.

Siver is no slouch either, having won his past four fights including an impressive win over George Sotiropoulos at UFC 127 in February and a razor-close decision over Matt Wiman at UFC 132 in July.

The event will be headlined by a welterweight championship bout between former Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz and UFC 170-pound kingpin Georges St-Pierre and a number one contender match between BJ Penn and Carlos Condit.

MMA Fighters Remember “The Coach” Shawn Tompkins (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

Shawn Tompkins, who lead his Team Tompkins out of the TapouT Training Center in Las Vegas, passed away unexpectedly on August 14th at the age of 37. Tompkins suffered a heart attack in his sleep.

Shawn Tompkins, who lead his Team Tompkins out of the TapouT Training Center in Las Vegas, passed away unexpectedly on August 14th at the age of 37. Tompkins suffered a heart attack in his sleep while in Ontario, Canada prepping MMA fighter, Chris Horodecki for an upcoming September 12th bout. Tompkins last cornered his protege Mark Hominick at UFC 129 in a respectable hard fought Fight of the Night title-contention that left Hominick just falling short of the Featherweight title to the champion, Jose Aldo by Unanimous Decision.

Shawn Tompkins had first made his home in Las Vegas at Xtreme Couture, having trained Randy Couture for several years along with other Couture members including Evan Dunham, Martin Kampmann and Ryan Couture. Our host, Steve Cofield took time to reflect with the fighters at Xtreme Couture on the brilliant career of “The Coach.”
