Snoop Dogg, Conor McGregor

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor shocked many with his UFC 264 rant towards Dustin Poirier in his post-fight interview. But, rapper Snoop Dogg was impressed by McGregor’s ability to remain a promoter while being evaluated for a broken leg.

McGregor lost his trilogy to Poirier after shattering his leg in the closing seconds of the first round. The fight was called off and Poirier earned the win via doctor’s stoppage.

McGregor still somehow agreed to do a post-fight interview with commentator Joe Rogan following the disappointing finish. He took the time to vocalize his demand for vengeance against Poirier, and also took shots at Poirier’s wife as they left the octagon.

During his 2021 Year in Review show with comedian Kevin Hart, Snoop praised McGregor for his post-fight antics.

Conor McGregor broke his leg during a fight and it was nasty,” Snoop said. “But I love his tenacity and his fierce way of fighting – He was talking s*** after he broke his leg!

“He’s going ‘I’ll f*** him up, there’s nothing he can do to me,’ and his leg was f***ed up and I’m like ‘Cus still talking s***?’!” (h/t The Mirror)

Conor McGregor Is Planning A Return In 2022

McGregor is still recovering from his leg injury and is planning a return to the UFC in 2022. There have been many names who are possible suitors for his return opponent, including Michael Chandler and a fourth fight with Poirier.

McGregor raised plenty of eyebrows with his vicious remarks towards Poirier before and after the fight. Many, including UFC president Dana White, felt that McGregor crossed the line by invoking family into his trash talk.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey also gave McGregor credit for the rant. While some have turned against McGregor over the years, it appears that Snoop is still riding with him.

To the surprise of no one, American rapper Snoop Dogg smoked marijuana while doing commentary for Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017.

The rapper, otherwise known as Calvin Broadus, joined the broadcast team alongside UFC veteran Urijah Faber. Dogg and Faber were a part of the commentary team that was dubbed ‘Snoopcast’, an alternate form of commentary separate from the official broadcast.

During a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Dogg gave an insight into his commentary appearances

“You know what people don’t know when they see me all these calling sports and calling fights when I’m an analyst,” Dogg said.

“I was on there smoking like a motherf**ker the first couple of fights.”

“They were like ‘hold on, the rules and regulations to fight, the smoke has got to be in this section over here. So we had our little booth where I was announcing and we had to smoke all for the set and watch the fight from the booth.”

Snoop Dogg Is A Big Fan, And Promoter, of Combat Sports

Dana White has denied betting $2 million with Snoop Dogg on the outcome of Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren.

The UFC president was extremely vocal in support of ‘Funky’ ahead of his boxing debut. White even claimed he would be willing to bet $1 million on the former MMA champion. This prompted the legendary rapper to up the stakes by proposing a $2 million bet – in which he’d be backing Paul.

The YouTuber made quick work of Askren on Saturday night.

Snoop Dogg, who was working in the commentary booth, immediately began calling for White to pay up.

White was asked about his thoughts on the Paul vs. Askren fight in a recent interview with Kevin Iole for Yahoo Sports.

The UFC boss didn’t want to give them but was keen to clear up one thing.

“I don’t even want to say what I think happened in that fight. I can tell you this. I don’t owe Snoop (Dogg) two million dollars,” White said. “Let me make it clear right here to everybody. I have never made an illegal bet, ever. I did not make an illegal bet on Saturday night. I did not bet two million dollars with Snoop or anybody.

White says he was approached about betting with the rap icon but decided against it for two reasons.

“Javier Mendez called. He’s the head coach at AKA. He said ‘these guys from Triller called and want to take that bet for two million dollars.’ It’s f*cking illegal! First of all, I’m not going to make an illegal bet, for one,” White explained. “For two, why would I bet them a million or two million dollars when I can do it legally in Las Vegas at 2/1?”

The UFC boss is not a fan of the unique spin Triller are putting on pay-per-view boxing events.

Despite not enjoying the show, White appreciates what they along with Jake Paul from a business standpoint.

“It’s not my thing,” White said. “It’s not my thing but that doesn’t mean it’s not other peoples thing. When you look at the whole Jake Paul thing that is going on right now. Boxing continues to go like this (motions downwards). This is the right guy. With the right schtick. At the right time. This guy’s playing this perfectly. Boxing is in such a bad place. There are doing a really good job of sucking the people to buy into this. Good for him.”

Do you think Snopp Dogg will continue to chase Dana White for $2 million?
