M-1 Global Light Heavyweight Champion, Vinny Magalhaes competes against Mikhail Zayats at M-1 Challenge XXVII tournament this Friday, October 14th, is more concerned about not breaking his win streak than maintaining his title..but essentially it’s the same thing.

Cage Warriors promotion getting with the times by implementing blood testing (My God, they weren’t testing before? WTF! Those guys could have gotten the herp or HIV and they probably only get $300 to fight. That doesn’t even cover a year’s supply of VALTREX, not that I would know this…) and possible steroid testing.

Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal to add KJ Noons vs. Billy Evangelista to December 17th card.

UFC plans to move pay-per-view times back to 10pm (ET) and 7pm (PT) possibly due to a slump in ppv buys. The new-old time slot (or “classic” time slot to those of you who recall the failure of New Coke) will start with UFC 141.

If you haven’t read the dirty details of 22 year-old model? actress? waitress? …whatever she is, she’s at least 6 figures richer, Sara Leal‘s unprotected sex romp with Ashton Kutcher on the eve of his 6th year anniversary to Demi Moore, for which he patted himself on the back, you can check it out: here.

Apparently Melendez Will Have to Get Past Masvidal in Dec. Before Heading to the UFC

(Gilbert is just going through the motions until he gets to the Octagon.)

Zuffa announced today that tickets for its planned December 17 Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal event will go on sale next week, meaning Gilbert Melendez likely won’t be heading to the Octagon as planned until at least 2012 if all goes well.

It makes sense that they would have the San Francisco-based fighter headline the event, which will take place in San Diego at the Valley View Casino Center, but the question is, who will UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar fight in the meantime? Since “El Nino” likely won’t be ready to go again until at least February, it’s unlikely that the UFC will keep “The Answer” on the shelf for five months.

The card will also include a women’s featherweight championship bout between Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Hiroko Yamanaka, KJ Noons against a yet-to-be-named opponent, as well as the return of Gina Carano.

A month after re-signing with Strikeforce, Cristiane “Cris Cyborg” Santos finally has her next opponent. As announced during Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers 19 broadcast, Santos will defend her 145-pound title at the “Melendez vs. Masvidal” event on December 17th, against Jewels/Smackgirl standout Hiroko Yamanaka (12-1). Here’s an amazing bit of biographical information from Yamanaka’s wikipedia page:

“Before entering into MMA, Yamanaka was a dominatrix and worked in a SM club for four and a half years. She used the name Chiaki in catfights when she was working there. She didn’t have sports experience and started to train in MMA because she thought that it would help her in providing a better service to her clients.”

Me-ow! Now riding an eight-fight win streak, Yamanaka was the final Smackgirl Open Weight Champion, and is ranked #2 on MMARising’s 145-pound women’s list. Watch her in action after the jump…
