The UFC heads to Singapore for UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka tonight.

Emanating from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, UFC 275 is scheduled to be main evented by a light heavyweight showdown between current champion Glover Teixeira and the No. 2 ranked contender, Jiri Prochazka. Ahead of the event, the UFC has released the UFC 275 cold open to get you, even more, hyped up for today’s event.

With just two wins inside the Octagon, Prochazka will step into the main event for the biggest fight of his career against fan-favorite UFC mainstay Glover Texeira. At 42 years old and 10 years in the UFC, Teixeira climbed to the top of the mountain when he defeated former champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 in October. Now he looks to keep his title when he meets a formidable opponent with serious speed and knockout power.

In the evening’s co-main event, Valentina ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko goes for her seventh straight title defense against flyweight powerhouse Taila Santos. Currently sitting at No. 4 in the UFC’s flyweight rankings, Santos earned four straight wins in the Octagon against notable fighters Molly McCann, Gillian Robertson, Roxanne Modafferi, and Joanne Wood to earn an opportunity to unseat the UFC’s most dominant reigning champion.

Zhang and J?drzejczyk Run Back One of The Greatest Fights of All Time at UFC 275

Also on tap for UFC 275 is the highly anticipated rematch of the greatest women’s fight of all time. In March 2020, Weili Zhang and Joanna J?drzejczyk engaged in a five-round war at UFC 248. More than two years later, the two will run it back, the winner earning an opportunity to face the new strawweight queen, Carla Esparza

Rounding out the evening’s main card is two big welterweight bouts. Promoted to the main card after Rogerio Bontorin was forced to withdraw from his bout against Manel Kape, Australian Jake Matthews takes on knockout artist Andre Fialho.

Opening up the main card will and making his sophomore appearance in the Octagon is Jack Della Maddalena who hopes to keep his momentum going against Dagestani fighter Ramazan Emeev.

Bouts scheduled for the preliminary portion of the card include:

  • Jacob Malkoun vs. Brendan Allen
  • Seung Woo Choi vs. Joshua Culibao
  • Steve Garcia vs. Hayisaer Maheshate
  • Kang Kyung-ho vs. Danaa Batgerel
  • Liang Na vs. Silvana Gómez Juárez
  • Ramona Pascual vs. Joselyne Edwards

Valentina Shevchenko

In the co-main event of UFC 275, Valentina Shevchenko will seek to defend her flyweight title for the seventh consecutive time. She takes on Brazilian contender Taila Santos, who is coming off a first-round finish over Joanna Wood.

As with the majority of her fights, Valentina Shevchenko is a heavy favorite. Let’s see if any of the LowKick MMA Staff predict a massive upset at UFC 275:

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Taila Santos

Frank Bonada

It’s been a long time since I picked against Valentina Shevchenko, and I can’t see that changing anytime soon. Taila Santos is one of the more interesting contenders to match up with the flyweight champ in recent memory, but it’s still impossible to predict the fight playing out in any other way than a Valentina Shevchenko victory.

It’s worth noting that few gave Julianna Pena a chance against Amanda Nunes, and yet she now holds the 135lb title. But there simply isn’t an aspect of this fight that you can feasibly argue Santos will come out on top in. The Brazilaianns durability may allow her to hold out to the judge’s decision, but it would be extremely impressive if she even wins a single round.

Prediction: Valentina Shevchenko by Dec.

Ross Markey

In seach of successive successful title defense number seven against Brazilian contender, Taila Santos, flyweight outlier, Valentina Shevchenko is the unmovable object at 125lbs. Prolonged periods of dominance within divisions in professional mixed martial arts usually have their sell-by date or, at the very least, an eventual tell that stylistically, an end of an era is close.

However, when it comes to Shevchenko – it feels like Santos, nor any other contender, currently at their level can cause the Kyrgyzstan native any real, noteworthy cause for concern. An upward move back to the bantamweight limit may be on the horizon for Shevchenko in the very near future, and beyond a return to 135lbs, I really find it difficult to picture the champion in any significant distress at flyweight. Shevchenko, And Still – within the distance seems like a safe pick – but it’s really just giving credence to her unmatched ability.

Prediction: Valentina Shevchenko by KO or Sub.

Makoa Goble

Valentina Shevchenko is looking to add another title defense to her impeccable career at UFC 275. Meanwhile, Taila Santos is preparing to face a legend. Not too long ago we saw one of the greatest fighters in Women’s MMA suffer a historic upset loss when Amanda Nunes was dethroned by Julianna Peña. At UFC 275, anything can happen, but don’t expect to see the same thing.

Prediction: Valentina Shevchenko via Third round KO/TKO

Nikhil Sharma

Valentina has been so dominant on her way to UFC 275. Her aura of near invincibility can also play against her. People seem to be counting Santos out even though she has more KO wins than Valentina. Santos has also never been finished in her career so far. I see this going the distance with Valentina coming out on top but probably not in a lopsided decision.

Prediction: Valentina Shevchenko by Dec.

Craig Peikos

Taila Santos’ best chance is to use her strength and grappling to work Shevchenko to the ground and keep her there. Unfortunately, I don’t see her doing that for five rounds. ‘Bullet’ gets it done with technical striking and scores a unanimous decision.

Prediction: Valentina Shevchenko by Dec.

Shevchenko Details Why Santos’ Power Hasn’t Translated To The Octagon

UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko believes that there’s a clear explanation for Taila Santos’ struggle to finish her UFC opponents with strikes. UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko believes that there’s a clear explanation for Taila Santos’ struggle to finish her UFC opponents with strikes.

This weekend at UFC 275, one of the promotion’s most dominant titleholders will look to extend her record-breaking reign even further. Since capturing the belt in 2018, Shevchenko has defended it six times, brushing past the threats posed by contenders like Jennifer Maia, Katlyn Chookagian, and Jéssica Andrade.

In her way of a seventh retention will be Santos. The Brazilian currently sits at #4 in the division and has earned a championship opportunity off the back of four straight wins inside the Octagon.

Aside from a split-decision loss to Maro Romero Borella on debut, Santos’ record is unblemished. As well as the impressive nature of any 19-1 slate, the manner of the 28-year-old’s victories prior to entering the UFC go some way to explaining her signing and fast rise.

Prior to joining the MMA leader, Santos boasted 15 professional wins, 10 of which came via knockouts. But since swapping the regional cages for the sport’s premier promotion, the Brazilian’s hands have appeared somewhat less lethal, with three of her four victories coming on the scorecards, the other via submission.

During UFC 275 media day on Wednesday, Shevchenko, who knows a thing or two about stopping her opponents on the feet in the UFC having done so four times in her last six appearances, explained why Santos’ power hasn’t translated over to the Octagon.

“Definitely it’s the level of competition, because we’re speaking of the best league in the world, of mixed martial arts,” said Shevchenko. “Here, you cannot find easy opponents, easy matchups, and there is no just weak fighters. They’re the best here, best of the best in the world.”

Ahead of UFC 275, Santos has suggested that her best hope of victory on Saturday will be by dragging “Bullet” to the ground. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that an upset victory will see Shevchenko stopped with strikes.

On the flip side, the Kyrgyzstani has the power and technique to finish anyone on the feet or on the canvas. Wherever the fight goes, Shevchenko is confident that she’ll add a seventh title defense to her résumé on June 11.

Why do YOU think Taila Santos hasn’t been able to knock anyone out in the UFC to date?

Shevchenko Thinks Santos Is Recycling The Rhetoric Of Her Past Victims

Valentina Shevchenko believes Taila Santos’ confidence ahead of their UFC 275 clash is an attempt to “hypnotize herself.” Shevchenko will put her 125-pound title up for grabs against the Brazilian challenger. Valentina Shevchenko believes Taila Santos’ confidence ahead of their UFC 275 clash is an attempt to “hypnotize herself.”

Shevchenko will put her 125-pound title up for grabs against the Brazilian challenger. Speaking at a press event recently, Shevchenko spoke on Santos’ confidence heading into the matchup against “Bullet” – undefeated at 125 pounds.

The champion says she believes Santos is simply trying to “hypnotize herself” into a positive mindset heading into the fight.

“I think it’s kind of like, hypnotizing herself, trying to convince that, ‘There is something, there should be, everyone is not perfect.’

“Definitely not everyone is perfect, but it’s kind of like, all my opponents were saying the same, the same over and over. It’s like, ‘No one is unbeatable, she has some hole in her game,’ but when they step inside the Octagon, they feel the opposite…”

“She’s trying to hypnotize herself to convince that there should be, but she is wrong. It’s not going to work for her.”

Santos is currently the No. 4-ranked flyweight in the UFC. She rides a four-fight win streak heading into the title fight with Shevchenko.

As for the champion, Shevchenko has never lost at 125 pounds. The only losses in her career have come at 135 pounds against Amanda Nunes (twice) and Liz Carmouche.

The latter of which was avenged in a flyweight title fight in August of 2019, where Shevchenko picked up a dominant decision victory.

Now, Shevchenko is looking for her seventh successful title defense against Santos, further cementing her legacy as one of the greatest female mixed martial artists of all time.

UFC 275 takes place live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on Saturday, June 11.

UFC President Dana White thinks fans are underestimating Taila Santos against flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko this weekend.

Santos will face Shevchenko in the UFC 275 co-main event in Singapore this Saturday. She earned the title shot after four-straight wins, including most recently over the likes of Joanne Wood and Roxanne Modafferi.

Shevchenko has been one of the most dominant champions in UFC history and not a lot of people are giving Santos a chance to claim the belt. However, White says not so fast.

During a recent interview with TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, White explained why fans shouldn’t overlook Santos.

“The big problem with this fight is this is a very dangerous fight for Valentina Shevchenko and not enough people know it,” White said of Santos. “This is one of those fights where [fans will say] ‘I don’t know who this girl is, I’ve never heard of her’ and then you hear some big upset happening on Saturday. This is a big fight for Valentina. If Valentina runs through her, like she’s running through everybody else, holy shit.”

Santos earned a shot in the UFC following a unanimous decision win over Estefani Almeida on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018. The show has produced top talents such as Sean O’Malley and Santos.

Shevchenko has cleared out the flyweight division of most contenders, with Santos being one of the few exceptions. She’s defended her 125lb title six times, including in recent finishes over Lauren Murphy and Jéssica Andrade.

Similar to her opponent, Santos brings a well-rounded style that can be a matchup nightmare for most flyweights. She’ll look to pull off one of the greatest upsets in UFC history this weekend at UFC 275.
