If you missed the Countdown to UFC 130 show this week, not to worry, we have you covered. During the show both Matt Hammil and Quinton Jackson’s camps give some interesting insight into their fighter’s respective opponents and we learn a bit more about some of the lesser-known fighters on the card like Rick Story and Jorge Santiago.

As always, the most head shake-inducing quotes came from Frank Mir, who is as high on himself as ever.

At one point Mir, who went on to brag about how much better he is in jiu-jitsu compared to Nelson says with a straight face:

“If he has the confidence that because he didn’t get hit by dos Santos and get dropped, I’m a lot bigger then dos Santos and I believe I hit a lot harder. When I hit Cheick Kongo, the punch alone threw him half way across the Octagon.”

What’s funny is, they repeated the clip of the punch he threw at Kongo and it didn’t really seem to connect with Cup Cheick’s chin, as much as it grazed off the side of his face and hit his chest. It looked more like he fell while he was backpedalling trying to dodge the shot.

I guess we’ll have to see what happens Saturday night, but if you look at the stats, they lean in Nelson’s favor. Roy has been knocked out once in his career and has beaten eight opponents by TKO or KO. All of Frank’s five losses have come by KO or TKO and he has won by the same methods three times.

UFC 130 is coming up this Saturday, and although it doesn’t have a marquee main event, this is still a card that should not be overlooked.

All 10 fights will be broadcast, and five of them will be free. The first three fights on the card will be featured on Facebook, the next two on Spike TV and the final five will be on the PPV.

UFC 130 did lose its original main event, which took away a good deal of luster from what was looking to be a very strong card.

In light of that, Rampage Jackson vs. Matt Hamill was moved up to the main event, and Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story was moved to the main card.

So although many people are overlooking this card, every main card fight has the chance to be a highlight reel knockout, submission or just a damn good fight.

And you may be looking to make some money on that.

If so, then here are the odds and predictions for the main card of UFC 130.

UFC 130 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will take place next Saturday, May 28, 2011.

Originally scheduled to headline this event was the third matchup between the UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, and the No. 1 contender, Gray Maynard.

Unfortunate injuries to both fighters have scrapped this main event battle.

To fill the void of this epic trilogy between Edgar and Maynard will be a light heavyweight clash between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt “The Hammer” Hamill.

Additionally, the co-main event features the former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir, slotted to face Roy “Big Country” Nelson.

In middleweight action, the technically precise, hard-hitting ex-Marine Brian Stann will square off against former Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago.

Additional fights include a wonderful welterweight bout between Thiago Alves and Rick Story, as well as an action-packed bantamweight battle between Miguel Torres and Demetrious Johnson.

Please follow along as I provide analysis and in-depth previews and predictions of all the night’s fights.

I welcome your comments.
