Proven Advanced Computer Technology is Picking Nick Diaz to Beat Carlos Condit Saturday Night

OK, we lied. THQ just let a couple of its interns fight each other in UFC: Undisputed 3 and the one using Nick Diaz won against Carlos Condit. There’s nothing scientific about their method that they claim is a result of a computer simulated formula, but in their defense they have been pretty damn accurate with their last few picks.

There’s nothing scientific about their method that they claim is a result of a computer simulated formula, but in their defense they have been pretty damn accurate with their last few picks.

The CPU had Jones winning against Machida, Overeem beating Lesnar, Aldo over Mendes, Sonnen taking out Bisping and Evans defeating Davis, even though the methods of winning weren’t accurately predicted.

One thing is for sure, they were bang-on accurate with Mike Goldberg’s choppy Yoda-esque introduction of the fighters.

If You Like Soccer Kicks, Head Stomps, Bas Rutten and Lenne Hardt, Go Play the UFC Undisputed 3 Demo Right Now!

If you didn’t already have the date marked on your calendar, the UFC Undisputed 3 playable demo was released today by THQ on both Playstation 3 and XBox 360. In addition to more fluid gameplay, this edition of the game will include the much anticipated PRIDE mode, complete with head stomps, soccer kicks, Lenne Hardt, Steven Quadros and Bas Rutten.

The demo only lets you play for one round, but the full release will be available in stores in three weeks, so don’t freak out over it.

THQ promises more intuitive controls for the reboot, but we’ll be the judge of that.

There’s nothing worse than being beaten by a smug nine-year-old button masher at Best Buy, so they better be telling the truth.

Hit me up at Gamertag XenophonisMe when you get the full version and we’ll throw down. Maybe a CP Undisputed Ope Weight GP is in order.

Video of the Day: If You Prank Frank Mir, Expect to Get F*cked With

(Video courtesy of YouTube/UFCTHQ)

THQ released this hilarious video today of Frank Mir’s final day of motion capture filming for the next edition of UFC Undisputed. Apparently this dude from THQ thought it would be funny to get all of the fighters in the game to do the Hokey Pokey — either for his own satisfaction since he was likely picked on in high school or because he was planning on releasing the footage as a special feature or Easter egg.

Well, either Frank caught on to the ploy or someone tipped him off. Either way, he made the prankster shit his pants.

UFC Undisputed to Return in January with Pride Mode. No, this is Not a Joke

Of course, you wouldn’t expect us to make inappropriate jokes about the UFC in the first place. Props: ufcundisputed.com

As a gamer, it sometimes confuses me that I get so excited about the release of new sports games. Other than updated rosters and an occasional gimmick that actually pans out, I’m essentially buying the exact same game every year. Not to mention that for every new feature that I’ll actually use, such as the truck stick in Madden games, there are two or three that I’ll either ignore or downright loathe. So for me to actually be excited about the newest edition of UFC Undisputed is sort of an accomplishment.

Earlier this week, THQ and the UFC released details regarding the game’s development. Set to be released in January of 2012, UFC Undisputed 3 will be available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming consoles. Obviously, UFC Undisputed 3 will feature the addition of featherweights and bantamweights, improved graphics and new camera angles, just like every other sequel to a sports game. For those of you looking to get in touch with your inner Mayhems, the game will also have fighter entrances. What is especially noteworthy though is that the game will also allow players to play in Pride mode.

For those of you thinking that this just means players will get to use soccer kicks in the Octagon, prepare to be pleasantly surprised. The game will not only feature authentic Pride environments (read: a ring), but also Bas Rutten and Stephen Quadros doing commentary. That alone has potential to be an awesome gaming experience, although the competition for best video game announcer is pretty stiff. Naturally, you will also be allowed to use soccer kicks, knees to a downed opponent and head stomps.

‘PRIDE Mode’ Heads to ‘UFC Undisputed 3’

Perhaps taking a page out of EA MMA, UFC Undisputed 3, slated to hit stores in January 2012, will include a new mode with a Japanese influence — the elements of the now-defunct PRIDE organization.

Game-maker THQ recently announced the addition of “PRIDE Mode,” introducing to the game soccer kicks, head stomps and knees to the head of a grounded opponent. The announcement was also for the release date and other new features, so THQ didn’t go into all the details of the PRIDE Mode, but players can expect the environment of PRIDE to be represented with smoke and lights during the fighter entrances and PRIDE commentators Bas Rutten and Stephan Quadros taking over the broadcast booth.

Of course, this won’t be the first time THQ has had its hands on PRIDE. Before PRIDE was purchased by Zuffa and THQ signed a licensing deal with the UFC in 2007, THQ published PRIDE FC: Fighting Championships for the PS2 in 2003.

EA MMA was first to make a large-scale MMA game in America to include different promotions in one game. However, with the exception of Strikeforce, the other leagues were created specifically for the game. The “Mystic” organization in the game was clearly based off DREAM with Lenne Hardt as the ring announcer and even Yuji Shimada as a referee.

The Undisputed series was originally planned to be an annual series similar to other sports brands like the Madden series, but the decision was made to skip the 2011 version of the game due to lower-than-expected sales of 2010 and to allow more time for improvements in a third game.

With the WEC having since merged into the UFC, this new Undisputed will also mark the debut of the bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

I took a first year Marketing when I was working on my PR degree and one of the first tactics the professor taught us was the trend of using the campaigns of competitors to flip the script and make your own product look better.

Like the Pepsi commercial that depicted a Coke and a Pepsi delivery driver sharing a can of their respective company’s soft drink with one another. When the Pepsi driver tries to get his drink back, the Coke driver refuses and a fight, and 90’s hilarity ensues.

Another oft used technique in comparative advertising that is commonplace during election time, is for politician’s campaign commercials to focus on refuting the claims of their opponents with counterpoints.

We’ve all seen the, "[insert name of politician] says that lowering the cost of healthcare isn’t a priority of his. That’s because his wife is a doctor. Shame on you [insert name of politician here]. Paid for for the campaign of [insert name of opposing politician here].

EA Sports is following in the footsteps of its political hopeful counterparts in its latest ad spot refuting the executive VP of THQ’s claims that no MMA fan is going to buy the new EA Sports MMA game when it comes out.
