Kevin Holland has announced his next fight in a very theatrical way.

Kevin Holland is ready to get back in the cage and instead of letting the news leak through the media, he has decided to announce his next bout himself. Holland has created a mini-movie-style post announcing that he will be facing Tim Means on June 18 in Austin Texas.

In his video, Holland is shown fictionally collecting his fight bonus from his most recent second-round TKO win over Alex Oliveira. When he is asked what is next, a dream sequence begins with him in a battle with a Big Bird character aka the dirty bird. “The Dirty Bird” is Tim Means’ nickname. In this video Holland does name Means directly.

“I’ll be choking my f–king chicken,” he said in the video.

The win over Oliviera got Holland back in the win column following two losses and a no contest. Holland was quickly rising up the rankings in 2020 when he secured five wins in a row that year.

Means is currently on a three-fight winning streak. He last fought a year ago to the date of his scheduled fight with Holland. He won a unanimous decision victory over Nicolas Dalby last June. Means is a veteran of the UFC, making his promotional debut back in 2012 and has been a staple in the welterweight division since his return in 2014.

The event on June 18 has yet to be scheduled a main event. Here is a list of fights on the Austin Texas fight card:

  • Julian Marquez vs. Gregory Rodrigues
  • Phil Hawes vs. Deron Winn
  • Roman Dolidze vs. Kyle Daukaus
  • Jasmine Jasudavicius vs. Natália Silva
  • Damir Ismagulov vs. Guram Kutateladze
  • JP Buys vs. Cody Durden
  • Cody Stamann vs. Eddie Wineland
  • Court McGee vs. Jeremiah Wells
  • Kevin Holland vs. Tim Means

Tim Means is planning to “violently” finish Danny Robert and keep his impressive win streak going at UFC Vegas 29 on June 19.

‘Dirty Bird’ has put back-to-back wins together for the first time since 2016 by beating Mike Perry and Laureano Staropoli in consecutive fights.

On the undercard of Chan Sung Jung vs. Dan Ige, Means hopes to make it three in a row when he faces the always exciting Englishman, Danny Roberts.

In an interview with LowKickMMA, Means gave props to his next opponent but says Roberts will be finished violently later this month.

“Good left-hander, you know, good boxer. He has a ton of heart,” means said. “He’s not a guy that’s gonna quit. I know he’s a guy that’s going to come look for me and make it a fight. I think the fans are in for a real treat with the way our styles clash and like always we’re gonna meet in the middle and figure that out.

“Nothing but respect to the UK guys and Danny and those guys over there but, I have to make a statement out of Danny,” Means added. “All due respect but I’ve got to finish Danny violently.”

The 37-year-old is predicting his fight with Roberts will be a fun one for as long as it lasts.

“It’ll be a barn burner,” Means said. “It’s going to be a back-and-forth affair. You always go in wanting to get your hand raised or whatever. Our skill sets are a lot of the same. It’s just going to be who’s going to get to who first.”

‘Hot Chocolate’ hasn’t fought since spectacularly knocking out Zelim Imadaev in November 2019. Before that, Roberts suffers consecutive knockout stoppage defeats against Michel Pereira and Cláudio Silva.

Tim Means was not surprised when his UFC 255 opponent Mike Perry missed weight by 4.5lbs. ‘The Dirty Bird’ claims Perry had been sending him direct messages eating burgers when he was meant to be cutting weight.

Perry forfeited 30 percent of his fight purse to Means who stepped in on short-notice to replace former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler who was originally booked to square off against ‘Platinum’ at the UFC APEX on November 21.

Means says he was not surprised to see Perry spectacularly miss weight after receiving messages from his opponent who was eating junk food in the weeks before their UFC 255 fight.

“He was sending me Instagram messages like, two weeks ago, eating big cheeseburgers with onion rings on them, stuff like that,” Means said. “It looked delicious. He asked me how the weight cut was going. I sent him some pictures of broccoli and avocados or whatever.

“But we knew that with Mike coming into this fight. I know him behind the scenes and stuff, what you get on camera that’s exactly who he is off camera. I have nothing but respect for the guy, I know he’s going through some adversity and stuff and sh*t will just make him stronger.”

On the night Perry was still able to cause Means some trouble and even managed to take the first round. As the fight progressed Means started to dictate the exchanges and ultimately pull off a decision win as planned.

“I thought the fight went as planned,” Means said. “I wasn’t really stressed about him not making weight yesterday, I knew he did just enough energy-wise to get within that five-pound limit to where we could still have a fight. He got up there dancing so I knew he still had plenty of energy. I knew he was gonna be strong, have a lot of heart, be durable, and that all happened the night of the fight.”

Means is not concerned about if Perry did or did not make a genuine attempt at welterweight and is happy enough with the extra $27,000 he picked up for the fight.

“He gave me $27,000, so I don’t care about what he does,” Means said. (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Controversial UFC welterweight striker, ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry looked as shocked as us viewers ahead of his UFC 255 pairing with Tim ‘The Dirty Bird’ Means as he was summoned to the Octagon, with Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ playing him in.

Perry has been in the headlines recently after his ex-wife, Danielle Nickerson, alleged the Michigan native had domestically abused her on multiple occasions during their five-year relationship.

In a miscued weight-cut before the UFC 255 weigh-ins on Friday, Perry tipped the welterweight scales at 175.5-pounds – dabbing on the scales afterwards, before forfeiting 30% of his purse to eventual victor, Means.

The brash striker had posted videos on his social media in the days leading up to the fight of him enjoying pizza and a burger, and in the hours before his weigh-in, took to his official Twitter where he informed his followers that he wasn’t confident of making the welterweight limit for his pairing with Albuquerque native, Means.

Originally scheduled to compete opposite former welterweight champion, ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler, Perry clashed with Means on short-notice, and cornered by his pregnant girlfriend, Latory Gonzalez – dropped a unanimous decision defeat to a highly technical Means who scored an impressive one-hundred and forty-three total strikes over the three-round affair.

Drawing attention on social media even before stepping foot inside the Octagon, Perry made the walk to ‘Halo’ by twenty-one time Grammy victor, Beyonce, and notably sang along all the way into the Octagon, even saving the chorus for opponent Means when standing opposite him – after questioning his corner, is this ‘Halo’? on his way to the inspection zone.

The unanimous judging loss to Means
snapped any hopes for a two-fight win streak for Perry who had taken home a unanimous decision win over Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu player, Mickey Gall at UFC Vegas 4 in June.

Dropping to 14-7 overall with the defeat, Perry also saw his Octagon record slip to an even 7-7. Scoring wins over Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, Alex Reyes, Paul Felder, Alex Oliveira, and the above-mentioned Gall, the 29-year-old Flint native has suffered defeats against Alan Jouban, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Max Griffin, Donald Cerrone, Vicente Luque, Geoff Neal, and now Means.
