Strange Video of the Day: Tito Ortiz Asks Victor Ortiz Awkward Question at Post Fight Presser

(Video courtesy of YouTube/FightHype)

If you happened to catch the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz post-fight press conference Saturday night, you may have done a double take when you heard Tito Ortiz take the mic and ask the challenger a question. Not sure if Tito pretended to be a journalist so he could score ringside seats to the fight or maybe he was forced to get a part-time job after taking a substantial pay cut for his last two fights, but judging by his work, maybe he shouldn’t quit his day job.

We all know that Tito is a linguistics expert and an expert on the anatomy of deaf people, but let’s just say that he makes us *other* reporters look good when he tries his hand at journalism. His was longer and more incoherent than the answer given by the guy who just got knocked out.

Check out the transcription of the awkward exchange after the jump.

Here’s the awkward exchange between Ortiz and Ortiz:

Tito Ortiz: Victor, Tito Ortiz.

Victor Ortiz: What’s up, bro?

Tito Ortiz: What’s up, man. Hey, good fight.

Victor Ortiz: Thank you.

Tito Ortiz: What would you do next time, differently than for this fight? I saw little small mistakes with you backing up and not really throwing punches off it. I think you would have done better throwin’ better shots. What would you do for the next fight to showcase your skills a lot better?

Victor Ortiz: You know, every fight has its game plan. I was just listening to the corner, simply. Whatever they said, I was just executing little by little, you know? I’ll be fine.

Tito Ortiz: You did a great job, man. Decent job.

Victor Ortiz: Thank you, brother.

FYI Tito: a question like that would get you slapped where Nick Diaz is from.

Another busy week for the world of MMA has concluded.

A current UFC champion announced an injury that may keep him out for the remainder of the year, a former UFC champion will welcome a former Strikeforce champion to the promotion, and another former UFC champ will battle a legend of the sport.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva recently revealed that he suffered a shoulder injury prior to his UFC 134 title defense against Yushin Okami.  Silva defended his belt, but it looks like he may be forced out of action as a result.

Vitor Belfort announced his return to action against former Strikeforce middleweight title holder Cung Le at UFC 139 in November.

Former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz will lock horns with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 140 in December.

UFC 140 is starting to look a lot like Christmas for Canadian MMA fans as a few more of our favorite fighters were added and confirmed for the December 10th card at the Air Canada Center in Toronto.

It is extremely exciting to see rising star Rory MacDonald added to the card, although I hoped for a bigger step up for “Ares.” He will be facing Brian Ebersole.

Montreal’s John Makdessi is healthy and set to face Dennis Hallman and Mississauga veteran Claude Patrick gets a date with Rich Attonito.

Other Canadians rumoured and likely to be on the card are Mark Hominick, Mark Bocek and Krzysztof Soszynski.

Two incredible main card bouts have been verbally confirmed with Tito Ortiz vs. Rogerio Nogueira and Frank Mir vs. Minotauro Nogueira II.

I had a chance to speak to some jiu-jitsu fighters and fans at the Bravado BJJ Open this past weekend about who they would like to see at UFC 140 and you can watch it on “The Submission,” my web cast attached with this article.

Fights Confirmed for UFC 140:

Notables:

Tito Ortiz vs. Rogerio Nogueira (verbal agreement)

Frank Mir vs. Minotauro Nogueira (verbal agreement)

Canadians:

Rory MacDonald vs. Brian Ebersole

John Makdessi vs. Dennis Hallman

Claude Patrick vs. Rich Attonito

Mitch Clarke vs. John Cholish

Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Added to UFC 140

You’re telling me that Ortiz found a hat that fits him? Nice try, photoshop.

The UFC has announced that a light-heavyweight fight between Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been added to UFC 140. This marks the second time that the two have agreed to fight each other. Originally, the two were supposed to meet in the main event of March’s UFC Fight Night. However, Tito Ortiz withdrew from the fight due to a concussion, and was replaced by Phil Davis.

Both fighters are in serious need of a victory if they want to stay relevant in the UFC. While Ortiz managed to pull off an upset victory over Ryan Bader at UFC 132, he went on to get thoroughly dominated by Rashad Evans (save for a guillotine attempt in the second round) at UFC 133. Tito Ortiz is now 1-5-1 in his last seven fights. Likewise, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is riding a two fight losing streak of his own. After losing to Ryan Bader at UFC 119, Nogueira was outclassed by Phil Davis during March’s UFC Fight Night. If we’re not counting his controversial victory over Jason Brilz at UFC 114, Nogueira hasn’t won since punching out Luiz Cane at UFC 106 in November 2009.

According to a press release from UFC.com, Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are set to meet at UFC 140 in Toronto. Both parties have verbally agreed to fight.

Ortiz has endured an emotional year thus far after picking up a win against Ryan Bader at UFC 132, before losing to Rashad Evans at UFC 133. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is prepared to make his third appearance inside the Octagon this year.

Nogueira is coming off consecutive losses to Ryan Bader, and most recently, Phil Davis at UFC Fight Night 24 in March. His UFC record currently stands at 2-2. Nogueira and Ortiz were originally expected to meet that night before Ortiz was forced to pull out of the event due to injury.

UFC 140 is scheduled for December 10, live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. In addition to this bout, the card is expected to feature a welterweight bout between Canadian prospect Rory McDonald and Brian Ebersole, as well as a rematch between heavyweight contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir.

Tito OrtizTito Ortiz will return to the Octagon at UFC 140 in December, taking on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

The UFC has announced that Ortiz and Nogueira have both verbally agreed to the fight, which will take place at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

Ortiz vs. Nogueira was originally slated to be the main event of the UFC Fight Night in March, but Ortiz had to pull out of the fight with an injury. Nogueira stayed on the card and ended up losing to Ortiz’s replacement, Phil Davis. Since then Ortiz has pulled off an upset win over Ryan Bader at UFC 132 and then a loss to Rashad Evans at UFC 133.

Nogueira is on a two-fight losing streak and is in desperate need of a win. Ortiz revitalized his career by defeating Bader, but he’s in need of a win, too: The upset over Bader is Ortiz’s only victory in his last seven fights.

The UFC 140 fight card also features Nogueira’s twin brother, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, in a fight with Frank Mir. Other fights slated for the card include Rory MacDonald vs. Brian Ebersole, Dennis Hallman vs. John Makdessi, Rich Attonito vs. Claude Patrick and Mitch Clarke vs. John Cholish. There’s no word yet on what the UFC 140 main event will be.
